I’ve been playing comp for a while now, first it was pretty awful I kept losing alot, but I learnt and now im doing more or less fine…for the rank. Im in gold rn, and i got here by flexxing alot. I’ve been advised several times to pick a few characters that i can and want to play and master those instead of trying to play all but worse. So lately thats what I did. I picked 2 healers (Mercy, Moira) that I like and can play in case I need to flex (90% of the time) and 3 dds (Genji, Hanzo, Reaper) using them depending on enemy team and our team comp.
Now my problem starts here. Lately I’ve been in many many groups where people instalock 2 dps or 3 straight in first second of char selection so I get no chance to play my favorite main dps (which is Genji) or any other so I almost constantly heal. And i get bored. And then next match I try and go ahead and lock a dps but for some reason the people teamed up with me cannot do a favor and go tank/heal since we alrdy have enough dps. So whenever I want to play dps I end up with a group of 4 instalocked dps-s and noone is willing to change. Even people who i played before with, they know i healed them before, but they cannot do the same favor to me when I would want to finally play sth else than healer?
I get it, not everyone can heal and not everyone can tank. But why does it happen that whenever i make up my mind and go ahead and play dps…suddenly noone can heal and noone can tank??
It’s like this: people are having fun. People are different. People have different ideas of fun.
The problem is not people, it’s that the SR system only cares about wins (over which a player has little control). Wins are not the goal of a player, fun is. So naturally you will encounter people in comp playing the way they want, and not cooperating to victory, because they don’t care about victory. People don’t want to play a hero they hate even if it means losing.
The other problem is that DPS are inherently more fun to play, and supports receive constant nerfs that make them less valuable and less capable. Supports should be the most capable of looking after themselves, because they’re supposed to look after other team members. I shouldn’t need babysitting as Brigitte, I should be able to 3-shot the Tracer that’s flanking around. Some tanks have this problem too, Orisa has insanely low health for such a large target, and poor Reinhardt has no chance against most other heroes due to his limited ranged options. These roles are vital for a team’s victory, but so often they are ignored in favour of flashy DPS lighting up the kill feed with their ults.
Orisa is the most picked tank in GM right now. Guess her high armor and infinite shield have something to do with it.
And I don’t see the problem with the OP. If you want to play your favorite DPS don’t wait around for others to pick, insta pick them yourself.
Honestly people like this annoy me. Yes, sometimes I am indecisive myself and fill up a role, other times I want to play something and insta lock it. Recognize what you want and go from there instead of blaming it on your team.
Its seasson 16 already, what do you expect? Comp is slowly dying mate, ranking system is terrible mostly (Lets see what new 2 2 2 forced system AKA role system gonna bring us…).
Honestly, whenever i do not care much about SR, im getting good matches… Why is that? Well, its simple. Matches are the same but my attitude is different, i play chilled and relaxed so my overall subjective impression gets better… Dont chase numbers on the screen, chase fun
The SR only cares about your overall win rate and not your performance as a indvidual player. Not to mention that the mentality of PLAY WHAT YOU WANT is the reason why comp is horrible(that would be like in CS:GO if people used guns they love the most(even thou they are horrible or dont know how to use them(AWP)) or play however they want.At least in CS:GO you can kick players off the match).Quickplay exists for a reason but no one wants to play it because they cant get points to unlock the golden weapons.
