I know Mercy had been nerfed many times and not in meta but she can heal a lot and resurrect. Yet many support players go Moira and Ana. Not only that but also they deal more damage than healing.
I am so sick of reporting and avoiding useless healers.
It’s rather simple, people like playing different stuff and you saying “useless” healers just shows your lack of understanding for the other supports which is kinda unfortunate, since some of them (all of them) are really good if you know how to play them
I am myself more into playing Ana and Moira (and yes I get lots of gold medals in healing even with a Mercy on the team) than Mercy. If you really want a “good Mercy” you are more than welcome to go one.
Also saying people not going Mercy is simply not true, there is so so many people playing Mercy

The healing and the dmg output from moira and ana are much better than mercy’s healing. Yeah she can res but is not better than keeping ppl alive and active. For ex ana’s nanoboost also heals the target and can save his/her life + the extra dmg it provides. So yea ana is much better than mercy, not to mention the sleep dart which renders an enemy usless for 6 seconds , or the antinade which can deny healing. So yeah to be fair res is not that big of a deal . Also moira has nice healing output , and can stay alive for a long period of time, she can avoid alot of ults with fade , she can do dmg also. Plus both of them have burst healing which mercy lacks.
People are not going to pocket you and carry you. Mercy is a borderline throw pick and the only reason anyone plays her is because THEY want to, certainly not so they can stand behind you and damage boost while you miss shots as Widow.

It’s not “healer”, it’s “support” (also, it’s not “Alptraum”, but “Albtraum”, unless you’re dreaming of mountains…) - Mercy can heal, true. But:
a) Moira can heal much better - not only more in volume but also burstier and more spread out.
b) Ana has impact beyond healing - Nano is a great combo piece, the Nade and Sleeping Dart are both great at shutting down specific ults.
c) Lucio has speed boost which has incalculable worth, as well as an option for displacement of enemies.
d) Baptiste again has more healing, a panic button to counter some ults and a great combo piece.
e) Zen, while very much suffering under this meta, is unique in providing better healing to flankers, has the best support ult and with a bit of coordination can help melt enemies.
Still, Mercy is picked more often than 3 of those despite being weaker. She’s stronger than Brig though who is barely ever picked (and never was, not even during the supposed GOATs meta).
I don’t play her because of the need to weapon switch between healing and doing damage to protect myself, I don’t have that with other Supports (I prefer Ana, Brigette, Zen and Moria)

Mercy is in a good place. She is still the best support with long range dps which is supposed to be where is played. You Play for Damage boost and mobility
useless healer = healer who doesn’t heal enough and lets his/her teammates die over and over again.
I am Mercy main but I cannot play with a Tank tero and Mercy at the same time you know.
I appreciate that no matter what game breaking patches she receives there will be people defending her pathetic current state. So please try to understand that your personal feelings towards a hero do not affect the actual value that hero provides.

Its not so much my personal feelings as it is my personal experience, ive been able to maintain a 65% winrate with her at 4.1k if she brought no value to the team this wouldnt have been the case

Zen’s Orb of Harmony brings value to the team but I wouldn’t call it a hero either.
If that’s your view on this game i’m not suprised you are plat

Wow, insulting someone with his rank, that’s rude don’t you think ?
People want to play what they want, let them.
Mercy’s rez isn’t that great, being stuck while rezzing, unable to do anything else and potentially seeing another teammate die in the process (and any mercy player knows what i’m talking about, how many time we saw our teammates collapse while rezzing, it’s amazing how fast you can die in this game).
Ana has more potential to have control over a game and Moira can add that little damage you need to finish people/change a fight. Let the support decide which hero is appropriate for the situation.

You’re free to enjoy whatever heroes you want, but you need to separate your love for a character with their actual viability compared with other heroes in their role if you want to talk about game balance. There is, at present, no sound reason to pick Mercy over another healer beyond personal preference, which is not healthy.

If someome is about to die, you shouldnt be using res in the first place, and yes it was rude however they simply dont understand that mercy is still fine
Oh look what i found Mercy - YouTube
It’s hard to justify picking something other than Ana + Moira if you look at healing output and their secondary ability (sleep, nade, fade, damage). Still, there are situations where I pick something else:
- Brig if we struggle with crowd control and have a melee comp.
- Lucio if there’s environmental kill opportunities, a long walk-back to point, and/or mostly close quarters fights. Also for example to help Rein/Reaper run down enemies. Also, in close quarters fights Ana needs to rely on nades if she wants to outheal Lucio, which isn’t necessarily the best use for them.
- Baptiste … I haven’t really found a reason to play him yet
His immortality field is awesome but these days people know to kill it instantly. His maneuverability isn’t better than Mercy’s.
- Mercy if you have a spread out comp so that you have great maneuverability (like with a Pharah & a map with height differences) or when you notice you have an ace sniper in your team who you can dmg amp for a bigger advantage. When the enemy focuses down healers hard, Mercy has more means to get out of harm’s way than Ana (unless you’re ace with that dart, but wouldn’t you rather sleep that nanoblade or charging Rein rather than keep it for self defense?).
- Zen if you have the team coordination to focus down discords, or when your team is struggling to shoot down tanks like Hog or Hammond. Also for dive heroes like Doom / Genji / Winston / Hammond, a Zen healing orb is easier to apply than Ana’s aim or Moira ball.
And if you have other healing heroes (Bastion / Reaper / Roadhog / Sombra / Soldier) in your team, you should definitely more strongly consider the secondary abilities your support characters bring to the table.
Also: Ana requires aim. Overwatch caters to more people than just aimgods.
That’s rather odd since the best healer in the game by your definition then is Ana and Moira since they have a lot better healing potential than Mercy
