Why The Brigitte Hate?

Ive seen a lot of hate and I think people saying she’s already lined up for a Nerf? How come? I went off Overwatch for a while, getting bored of the same old tactics and team line ups. Brigitte was a refreshing change. As the new Hero on the roster I’ve tried playing her a lot and I’m really enjoying myself.

To me it seems people get annoyed when the only way they can play the game gets threatened by a new character, then claim the people who like that character are just rubbish at the game, despite the fact they’re the ones unable to adapt to a wee change?

The change of pace was sorely needed. I play a mix of heros like Tracer, Soldier, Orisa, Bastion, Brigitte, Moira and Mei and whenever I’ve played heros other than Brigitte I’ve had no real problems in killing her? Junkrat is way more OP, deadly and annoying for example? No self explosive damage, damage radius weapon, traps and mines? But we moan because someone can bring down Reins shield for a wee bit? Sure as Tracer you need to keep your distance, but again that’s just making you adapt your gameplay to cater for this, which I guess people don’t like? As someone who loves playing Tracer I don’t feel threatened against any hero bar McCree and usually flank myself causing a big distraction for the defending team. If Brigitte is there I feel very threatened though and need to watch what I’m doing. I guess people don’t like that and want it to go back to them being able to just blip about building their ults?

Anyway, to me Nerf in this game just means keep the constantly picked Heros safe and allow players to stick to their usual tactics. God forbid a new Hero should force you to rethink your usual gameplay style.

Hopefully she doesn’t change too much as I really enjoy playing her and playing against her.

Of course you enjoy yourself. You main a completely overtuned character that takes a few minutes to master.

No you dont. You want her to stay broken so that you can get a rank you dont deserve. Nobody sane thinks that brig is fair and fun to play against.

Says the tracer main. Hows that karma feel?

Moira: A unique character with strong place in the lore, interesting and new mechanics, and filling a niche rather nicely(the niche being support players who want to go full heal instead of an off healer but don’t like Mercy and think Ana is weak).

Brigitte: An amalgamation of other characters bringing nothing to the story besides being a sidekick, created to change the meta instead of enriching the gameplay, possessing abilities designed to annoy a large chunk of the population even people who play characters who didn’t need counters, is a pain to counter herself, has no defined place other than being supports’ easy get out of jail card if they are being owned.

Its not hard to see how Blizzard’s hero designs have taken a significant dive.

She bothers me less as Tracer than other heroes tbh. as she can pretty much 1v1 every hero in the game, i can atleast get away as tracer.

This is what made me lose all respect for blizzard (the little i had left) instead of being competent and balancing heroes to enable new strategies except dive, they create this pathetic joke of a hero.

The strawpoll that got posted said it all. it was something like 85% of the playerbase doesnt like to play with/against Brigitte

To be fair they also said

I totally agree Brigitte could use some nerfing, but I also think it’s a good point that we also need to adapt our play to counter new heroes as they come into the mix.

I dont trust anything coming from a Brig main telling me she is balanced lol.

Yeah sure, i agree 100%. But before Brig, heroes soft countered other heroes. Brig though counters whole teams and strategies by herself. while not having any real counters.

I dunno if they actually main her, but that made me laugh.

Yeah, fair comment.

I wouldn’t say I ‘main’ anyone, I don’t play it enough for that. This season is the first I’ve played her and she took some getting used to, which is why I’ve got more play time as her.

I’d say the second comment is a bit unfair, I enjoy playing Brigitte because she’s fun to play with, the same as any character in the game I use. I play this game to enjoy it not to rank up in some arbitrary ranking system. That’s why I went away, I was bored of the same gameplay and Hero’s.

I think this meta is the worst OW has seen so far. Full of too-easy-to-play spamfest heroes being strong. Brigitte is good against too many heroes. Not just tracer/genji.

You guys are mental if you think blizzard will leav 3 supports 2 tanks be the play style for overwatch.
Like alot of people say why try when you can just sit n never swap on brigitte and aways do good. So why will players try on dps when she does the job easly and effectivly on top of provaiding cc tanking protecting and healing.

If anything brigitte needs to be tuned so she doesnt take a dps pick from the team.

Brigitte is not fun to watch aswell. Much ratter watch a mccrre tracer or widow just strath up woop ass with skill then watching brigitte drool on her keyboard and be supper useful with just her mere existance.

This is the key point and the thing which makes her so unlikeable. Want to counter the flankers? Fine, do that! Do not mess with tanks who didn’t need to deal with a character who can stun and disrupt them so easily. I am sure not only flanker mains hate her for this reason.

Honestly nerfing the flankers would have been much better than her introduction.

If brigitte stun is removed for a root it will be a gr8 start.
Root a tracer so she doesnt recall or dash.
Root genji so de doesnt dash away, he can use his deflect its not gonna matter vs brigitte or rine.
Root a rine so he doesnt move just dont stun him 100% of the time without a miss and counter play just to remove his shield and ult combo him with someone.
Brigitte stun is by far the easiest way to insta stop ults on demand aswell.

In general brigitte is here to make ppl feel safe not to let a rine get team shatter by removing the others rine shield. So its bad when a genji kills a suppot but its fine when rine brigitte cam desomate a team with a easy combo.

The definition of Overwatch today - look at the enemy team with Zarya and press Q, do the same with Hanzo, right click the Hanzo with Mercy. Profit?
I’ve played some games without Zarya or Hanzo or both and man, this is the real Overwatch, the game I soooooo missed.

Your analysis is accurate.

The people moaning about Brigitte are the ones who are unable or unwilling to learn. They want to aim at stuff, with weapons that kill it as efficiently as possible with minimum risk, while making cool action sounds. Their reward comes only from the reinforcement of their feelings of superiority, and not from achieving something through time and effort.

There are plenty of games out there where aim and AD-strafing are all you need, and I honestly hope they switch to them instead. These are usually the ones blaming their team mates for any loss, as they have gold elims.

Play against her like you would play against a Reinhardt. Keep your distance, shoot her shield, and when she starts swinging shoot her.

Some things that might needs some tweaking is:
Her Shield: She gets her shield back too fast.
Her selfheal: She self heals a bit too much
Remove speed boost from her ult, and make the armor from her ult last as long as her abillity armor…

Thats not true at all. I have healer/tank friends that have quit the game because having your shatter canceled by a 6 sec cd near intant stun is incredibly frustrating and anti-fun. And the healers feel forced to play brig, because if the team doesn’t have one and the enemy does, its pretty much over

This is actually pretty funny since mccree, rein, mei, zen, lucio, pretty much every hero in overwatch takes time to master through time and effort. Brig on the other hand takes five minutes to master, while giving brig players a false sense of superiority for hitting their fair oneshot combo and canceling ults every 6 sec

Again you seem to think that only dps players are frustrated by her, which simply isnt true.

People can quit the game, that doesn’t mean Blizz is gonna balance around those few quitting for those reasons.
The counter argument would be if Blizz nerfs Brig, all the portion that love Brig will quit… So now what ?

For one she’s a new-ish hero, usually new heroes get a lot of complaints. Apart from that she has a very large kit that is uncomfortable to play against. Shield bash that can both stop ultimates and other abilities and has very little counter play. She has 50 armor on top of her 200 hp, which disables heroes like Roadhog to punish her if she’s out of position. Has very little requirement for aim. Overall the hero is very forgiving to play and very easy to master.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind low aim requirement heroes and heroes that aren’t easily punished when out of position, I don’t even mind that she can stop ultimates, that’s all part of the game and other heroes have those abilities as well.

If she’s op or not I sincerely have no idea since I just came back to the game bit after her release. And it sure felt good stopping an ulting genji with ease on the first try. However it felt too easy, all I did was shield bash and whip him, he was discorded and stood no chance. But then again dva can eat a hanzo ult with just the good matrix timing, hoog can stop a Mccree with a good hook, etc. etc. all part of the game. However the more I played her I realized that a lot of the time I was way out of position and wasn’t being punished for it, likewise with other Brigittes I’ve seen. Warranted I haven’t played her in competitive yet, but even more so in unorganized teams she felt powerful as well.

However if our team was composed of mostly long range heroes (like it often does in qp) I felt useless as the enemy team would change to longer range heroes as well so I was just kinda running back and forth trying to keep up and eventually switched to something else.

My overall opinion is, she should be a bit easier to punish if caught out of position, but I can live with it if she stayed the way it is now.
