Yet another "Overwatch using wrong GPU" but nothing worked

I have read pretty much all the posts on this subject on the official forums and reddit.

I have tried all suggested actions including:

  • Setting a power plan with high performance
  • Forcing all applications to use Nvidia card as default
  • Forcing overwatch.exe to use Nvidia card , but also the Over launcher and the battle.net application
  • Setting physx to use Nvidia card
  • Unplugging any external monitor, resetting all settings to default, forcing the Overwatch application from in-game settings to use the laptop Monitor in windowed mode
  • Checked that my drivers are up to date

Still, Overwatch uses “GPU 0” (integrated graphics) instead of “GPU 1” (Nvidia card) even though the game says otherwise. I know the game is not to be trusted because I have 15fps with only the game and battle.net open (sometimes it magically goes up to 60fps for a lil bit)

I can’t contact support as there a mysterious error and I am just told to retry later, please help

Hey there Ddeokbokki,

Sounds odd as usually one of the things you have tried already solves the particular problem. If I can ask though, how do you know it’s running on the internal graphics card rather than your Nvidia one? I understand you are not getting great performance but was just curious if there is something somewhere showing definitively that the intergrated graphics card is being used.

I ask because we need to make sure there isnt a fault with the Nvidia card you mentioned. Either way if you can get back to this thread with your system files, we can take a closer look at things for you. You can provide those files by copying them once generated into a website like Pastebin and then provide the links to that in your response. Use the </> symbol to provide the links.

Hey, so I use a Lenovo Legion Laptop and I am having the same issue like everyone: The game uses the Intel GPU (I know for sure, since 1. task manager shows only Intel GPU usage and 2. every other game (CSGO, The Witcher…) works just fine.) I have tried every possible fix I could find so far, including the ones mentioned aboved. The only thing that helped was deactivating my Intel GPU which makes my Laptop do some questionable things, like freezing, display not working temporarily, brigthness adjustments are also impossible.

Any ideas? I find it quite confusing that there is still no fix for this.

Best regards.
