Steps to reproduce: attempt to save highlight in game. Error is also present other times but has occurred with 100% frequency today when doing this.
Hardware: Intel 3570k
AMD R9 Fury X
16GB RAM
All latest drivers installed from clean install. GPU driver is 18.5.1, relive is not installed
Overwatch crashes to desktop with the message “your rendering device has been lost”. I have tested my full system under maximum possible thermal and electrical load and the problem does not appear. The problem has never appeared in any other software. Issue appears on at least 2 different driver versions, 1 of which was known to be good before today. Superfetch is running and is automatic.
All parts were returned to stock clock speeds and factor specifications, this did not solve the issue. All signs point to this being an issue with the Overwatch Application or the way it interacts with something, as it is not present with any other software, as mentioned.
topic 17616733590 is clearly out of date as the issue occurs on much newer drivers, so it would be good to have an official comment on an up to date solution
A quick search of Reddit shows an increase in the past few days of the number of people posting about this issue, so a recent change to something may have effected it
Have you checked this thread and tried all the steps?
The problem with this error is that it can be caused by many different reasons, so it’s a bit hard to diagnose. Specially in a forum, since often it can indicate problems with the OS, power system or some piece of hardware.
That post contains the same information as post 17616733590 from the old forms that I mentioned doesn’t it? In any case I followed those steps before posting. Reinstalling the game seems to have solved the issue, so touch wood I’m okay for now. I really hope we can get to the bottom of this issue, it seems to be effecting a lot of people
