Two of my friends did placement games in 2v2. One is a low-diamond 1v1, the other one never placed anything, completely new (<50 apm). They Went 1-4 and placed Master3. Is that some kind of bug going around?
MMR catchments are lower in 2v2. Initial placement gives you something like platinum level MMR.
Depending on how highly rated the opponents are by comparison (not actual skill), the game will give a semi-false reading on MMR.
That’s true for all players on all multiplayer systems using an MMR type of system.
Takes around 40-50 games before the rating matches the skill level.
2v2 or more it’s even harder because the system forces players with wildly different skill levels.
