Remove unit from any group hotkey

Hello I really like this game , and I really enjoy GSL and WCS , most of sc is a real treat to watch. The only thing that keeps me from playing is that I do not have a button that removes a unit from a group , I know that this might be weird because ctrl + number is the norm for you SC 2 players , but that is not the case for me as I played a lot of AoE 3 and a bit of 2 , those games have a button that lets me remove units from any selected group , I hope I do not ask for much , but I would love to play SC2 and I am not that good at aoe either but this hotkey helped me a lot to be somewhat decent and switching between games is hard for me.

You have the buttons to remove selected group of units or unit from any number/hotkey(s).

Hey there , I will show you what I am talking about in a video as my English does not seem that good to tell you what I am referring to.

Oh… well, yeah. It’s hard to adapt after that.

I’m not sure to understand what’s your question, but there are two stuff that might happen:
If you have selected let’s say 10 marines, you can remove one in your selection by shift clicking it, either on your command card or directly on the screen.
If you want to unbind a unit from a hotkey group, you can select the group via your hotkey, shift click the units you want to unbind, and rehotkey your updated group. Or, since you probably don’t use the 10 possible hotkey groups, in the hotkey options there are the “add to x control group and remove from others”, you can replace say this hotkey for the 10th group by for example space bar. Then you select the unit(s) you want to unbind and you press space bar. Don’t know if it’s clear, if not you can still check on this video : StarCraft 2 - Mechanics Coaching (Plat 3) - Macro Cycle, Cloning + More - YouTube Pig has many video about all of this.

I know how shift click works , I am not that dumb , as I showed you in the video the use of having a button to remove units from a group is much more convenient as it reduces the APM and I simply got used to it , with said button I don’t have to remap a slot and use ctrl at all , and focus only on alt+ to add units to unit slots, and said command to remove them if need be , this is how I got used to playing and would like to play sc2 in the same way , and I know what you suggest redo the group after removing a unit from my squad , which I deem far inferior to what aoe brings forth , now I bought this game , if the dev’s don’t want to implement this or are not willing then so be it , I will still play aoe3 , but now and then would love to change things and sc2 is by all means a great game , but the thing that really hinders me from playing it is the downgrade that I would have to make , a downgrade from a game that came out in 2005.

Also the x control group is for a SPECIFIC group , if I have a unit in another group that I want to remove I would have to map that too , I think you can understand why I deem this a far inferior option than the one I suggest.

Sorry I really am not sure to understand exactly what you mean, but imagine you replace the hotkey “create control group 10 and take away units” by space bar- assuming that you don’t use the control group 10 - then won’t this do the job ? you take any unit, press space bar, it’ll remove it from all the control group you’re using.

That works , don’t like having a dead slot though but it is doable to play the game as I am used to , thanks for the help and it is much appreciated.I thought that take away unit is for a specific group only , which I was wrong about and will take units away from any global group.
