Not sure how to title this. I sometime wonder the realistic of the graphic don’t make sense. E.g. Medivac unit can carry 2 siege tanks which look way bigger than the actual plane. How the hell they can fit into it? That Medivac can also lift a massive unit like Thor. lolol. You gotta laugh.
Also in the ghost story mode one of the mission where 3 massive air units pop out in the city. They are way bigger than anything in the game even bigger than Hyperion and how can they fly so low to the ground? What the hell. Also Fenix in story mode is a lot smaller than the one in Coop game.
I know that probably people don’t care about these details since they are just visual effect but company like Blizzard should make those units more realistic. It just lazy coding and design.
Its because vidya games, the scale in gameplay does not at all reflect their actual sizes.
An SCV is twice as tall as an Marine and Vikings (in landed mode) is three times, keep in mind that Marines suits adds a good couple of centimeters height to an human so take that how you will.
An Battlecruisers optimal crew size is between six thousand and eight thousand people purely to be operated, it also serves as Terrans main means of transport for armies. ARMIES. The Heart of the Swarm third missions mission cinematic I think where you eventually see an glimpse of them in the skies as anti air batteries are gunning willy nilly does them justice.
In the Starcraft 1 cinematic where the four marines and lead guy is carrying an cold fusion nuclear bomb or something through the space facility? Thats an science vessels scale.
Motherships are roughly three kilometers in diameter if I judge the Field Manual book correctly, and the Spear of Adun is 74 kilometers from tail to nose.
The gameplays scale does not match up to the lore, if they did you would be fighting onboard Battlecruisers using Marines and Zealots, not with Battlecruisers.
Wikia quote.
Not standard outfit if I recall the books correctly, only some with stabilizers for atmosphere can fly in planetary atmosphere.
I really don’t like this guy Carnifex attitude and I bumped into you a couple of times in the past in this form and you always seems to be negative and defensive. Look like a really immature kid. Someone like you actually don’t solve any problem and just put the blame on people. For your information I am do actually know a lot about game design and coding. Do you have a degree in Computer Science or know any programming language? How many coding language do you know to a professional level?
I also surprisingly bump into Likkan too and he can talk properly. I also do know that in game doesn’t supposed to scale up to the real world. I think generally Blizzard put enough effort for the visual aspect and most of them are convincing enough but in some area feel a bit odd. I play mostly D3 and other games and not SC2. In my life time I have played over 400 different games (I have records of every game that I played for more than 10 hours or owed) and I do know a lot of game graphic, physic, realism, sound effect and maths.
Like you said BC looks smaller in game than real world but Hyperion size does make sense. Obviously has to scale it down to mini version, otherwise on the screen is impossible to see anything like Abathur and has to overlap every air units.
I also consider that marine suite for Typus in the first cinematic, make sense. They will be bigger than a normal human size which mean SCV and everything look realistic to my view except for those points that I mentioned above. The biggest scale issue is Medivac and those massive space ship in Dark Skies where Alarak attack city. You can find it on the YouTube Lowko channel. I just think they should make it a bit more realistic to the idea.
Even a 10 years old boy can understand how could two tanks can fit in the tiny medivac? I have to explain to him that it is magically shirk inside. It’s game, doesn’t need to make sense. Don’t think too much and just have fun.
The point is such a big gaming company like Blizzard should put every possible details to their games and patches. Nowadays everything is all about realism and 4-8k. They really need to step up their game. Like you heard rumour about this WoW Reforged and I have a lot of issues with current D3 (not about the visual, actual game design itself which is even bigger problem than SC2). I am not currently convince about buying D4 after their mess up. Not just me saying it, also my mates who played the game for years since D2. Some are switching to Path of Exiles or Worclen, moving away from Blizzard.
Same goes for you. Making irrelevant, stupid topics like this one and what was the another one, ah yeah Why Mengsk Suck. Waste of time and space.
You have knowledge for programmig? Great! Make a game, sell it and lets see the results. If you think you could do better than this company.
What is your problem dude? You don’t even know me mate and the success I have in life. Is Blizzard paying you? Irrelevant? We live in the world of realism, special effect and CGI buddy. Why companies and Hollywood spend so much time, money and effort to make game and movies? Why everything is high def, 4G-5G, fibre optic, VR, 4K?
Maybe there are some people like you who only care about the good story and don’t bother too much about visual aspect of it but there are also a lot of people like me who care about those technical stuff as well as good story. It just different views and what you should do is respect other people view as well.
You know what, never mind. I don’t need to explain this sort of idiot or chav who act like a 15 years old teenager and why am I wasting my time teaching some manner to this kid who probably drunk and get angry all the time. Instead of finding solution and improving all you do is defensive and take negative approach. And by the way, I wasn’t talking to you in the form. I am talking to mature people and Blizzard.
That’s why I don’t post much. I used to post a lot in D3 in the past years and Blizzard seem to listen to some of the discussion and feedback in their future patches but I don’t care anymore because I bump into people like Carnifex. Sometime small things can make a big difference to the success. If you are coder, you would know.
Well I could agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong. Also keep posting, someday you’ll post something intelligent! Don’t give up!
If a topic is irrelevant to you, feel free to just skip it …
To the matter at hand. KKWIN, it does not fix the fact that Blizzard went for this, but there is a mod called “Real Scale” which tries to set every unit and building to a more appropriate lore-size. You can find it on the web. Some YouTubers also took a look at it - “LowkoTV” for instance.
Maybe that tickles your fancy.
EDIT:
Sorry, got the YTer name wrong. Corrected it.
