I was tracking Treble the mechanical dog in Highmountain and, having no previous experience with hunters and tracking, I was delighted to hear a jaws-influenced theme when I got close. Things like this make me way more happy than gear or gold ever could. Old news for every one else Im sure, but new to me. I want to tack more things now.
This is only indirectly related to the game, but it did more than make me smile, it actually brought a tear to my eye.
I am a member of a WOW solo players group, it’s over 20k strong now and someone commented today that really made me think about what Azeroth means to me, and what it could mean to others.
I’m going to share it here, in hopes it actually means as much to even one other person…
I know a lot of people think that Blizzard has “dumbed down” World of Warcraft, but…
I am not a “gamer” by any definition of the word. I have been playing my Mage for twelve years, and I have gotten pretty good at it. Other classes, not so much, but I do okay.
For me, I don’t think the game has been “dumbed down” as much as it has been made accessible to more people like me who are not very good, but enjoy playing.
Yesterday, I went to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving, and I took my laptop with me and my mom (who has never touched a video game in her life, and can barely find her way around her computer) chose my Worgen Mage, Arcaydia, and she flew a dragon for the first time, killed a spider in Duskwood, and did some fishing. She loved it !
I believe Azeroth is for everybody, not just “gamers”.
We all need a Happy Place, and everybody should be able to fly a dragon and forget for a minute that the world can kind of suck sometimes
That last line, Azeroth is for everyone, not just for gamers, kind of summed up what this world has been for me…
It’s not the raids, it’s not the rewards, it’s the world, the environments, the settings, that chance to experience…however briefly the magic of a world untouched by whatever cruelty or darkness is tearing at your reality…
It’s the people who run past, the brief flashes of light, all escaping into their own realms, contained within the narrative of a shared world.
Thank you Blizzard, Thank you fellow Players…
For Azeroth…it’s that simple. (hugs)
Finding out that we can actually thanks to flying mounts just land on the Zeppelin in Grom’gol and get safely transportet to Orgrimmar as Ally to get close to Azuregos.
Here i am bored and daydreaming again in stormwind, laughing at my own ideas.
Now that we have dracthyrs flying around, a bird in the head is not that bad anymore. It could be worse…
That’s lovely. It’s exactly how I feel.
This needs to be quoted in an article in NYT, WT and any of those famous newspapers millions read worldwide.
People tend to forget this little touch…
