You like your dental care being done by blacksmith? :stuck_out_tongue:

im guessing you are refering to medieval dental care. they would take out teeths if any problems like toothaches rise yes. i dont think it defines the entire era of some time periods tho.

Sorry, I didnā€™t mean to imply I ā€œlikedā€ anything about the period - more a fascination over how a simple thing like a cut could kill you, life was certainly nasty, brutish and short for a lot of people in those times

An Owl and the Pussycat Poem

ā€œHer furā€™s as dark as midnightā€™s lovely gloom
And when she walks in silence through the night
Her paw pads kiss the earth with rare delight:
Sheā€™s so sublime and elegant a bloom !

A flower of all felines, with her grace
A magical enchantment full of dreams !
Oh, how she has survived through lifeā€™s extremes !
I canā€™t imagine how she bears this place !

She was abandoned by some felon. She
A house cat oh so civilized and rare !
She knew how to besot with every stare,
From those delightful eyes and from each tree.

I know weā€™re different. Iā€™m like moonlight, bright
With silver feathers and sublime repose;
And she? She has those magic sable toesā€¦
I love her. Life can be passionā€™s delight.

So how will I comprise a starlight ode
Enchanting my sweet damsel princess queen?
She needs to rule in a secure demesne:
Iā€™ve made a nest for her because itā€™s snowed.ā€

Today Iā€™ve made the mistake to log-in to my taxes and pension portal and Iā€™ve seen the how much Iā€™ve earned since Iā€™ve begun working vs how much Iā€™ve spent in direct taxes. Iā€™ve added to that how much Iā€™ve spent in rent through the years, as well as bills, and now I want to cry and die.

Luckily enough I didnā€™t dare to look how long until my pension, or else Iā€™d be so dead that someone would actually need to bury me atleast 3 times.

The more I go on, the more I think this is all just a modern way to say slavery.

Random topic: Just seen that Threads is now available in the EU and I am wondering if people think companies and people will migrate to it from ā€œXā€. Quit Twitter soon as Musk bought it and it is infuriating that most news is still best got from the site and you canā€™t see it without an account.

Iā€™ve even given up all hope of ever retiring ^^

But ye you can easily bet on working all your life and any wage progress you make will be covered by inflation and taxes. Such is life.
Best one can do is finding work where you can either get away with not doing anything or actually enjoy enough that it doesnā€™t feel like working.

exactly related wages and the inflation, here wages are not even going up as much with the inflation. also when the prices spiked at one point people in theory couldnt afford to go work. people paying more in living and on gasoline to get to work than what normal wages give them is pretty dumb.

they also been rising the age for pension constantly so soon that will be 70 or something if theres anything left in the fund that our goverment keeps messing with that aswell, its not something to look for in any case, its just safety net when too old to work otherwise, also the difference to normal pension from wages and to some who has no wages for their entire lives is something like 50-100 dollar, also seem like something not even worth to think about as a motivator, better just do something that like enough to not want kill oneself after each day at work, definitely shouldnt do anything with solely pension as motivation, difference is one tank of gasoline more per month and then goverment takes your lisence away anyway due too old

Well atleast this ā€œwarmsā€ my heart a little bit, as there are many people here who believe it would be better to change country if you wanted a better life, but I keep telling them this may have been true once, but now itā€™s more or less the same situation everywhere. You may find some slightly better places, but the effort to do so and leave everything you have and everyone you know behind for that, itā€™s not actually worth it (not for me anyway).

Although Iā€™d say that you talk about wages not going up as much with the inflation, here they havenā€™t went up at all, despite the inflation. I can effectively buy half the groceries I could buy 2 years ago at the same market  I should recover some old receipt and try to buy the exact same things and see how it goes, but Iā€™m fairly sure I would spend more or less the double.
