Having seen what it actually was Iām glad I saved the 50kā¦
I do tend toward the frugal in wow.
I donāt farm gold, never did (even when we had all those gold missions on those tables). Accross all my alts I must have around a million gold (which to me seems like a lot) but I still wouldnāt pay 10,000g for most of those mounts. I could go buy 100 for those mounts and add to my collection and achievement points but I donāt really want to. Iāll continue to earn gold by playing the game and spend it as frugally as ever.
Iāve never bought the Yak as the 120,000g seems like a lot for a mount that Iāll never use as a mount. Iām quite happy with the recent transmog toy as I donāt have the yak.
I will never buy anything like the Long boi or the big spider mounts, the thought of it hurts my brain.
I had a repair bill of ~1200g recently in Zaralek Cavern when I ventured over to that World Boss area. This amount of gold for repairs feels a lot to me still.
Even when you realize that thereās WQs that reward around 1k gold?
Yes. I know itās not entirely rational but thatās how I feel. I just couldnāt spend 50,000g on a customisation. I doubt I could spend 50,000g on the most imba op bis weapon in the history of the game.
Fair enough.
We all spend our gold the way we see fit.

I did buy it but it wasnāt worth more than 5k IMO.

I just felt for 50k it should, SHOULD, have been a lot more worthwhile, especially taking into consideration it was linked to (what was this time) a very short timeframe window.
For 50k I expected a lot more than a couple of gaudy bracers, equally gaudy anklets, a saddlechain and a treasure box on the back of the saddle. I never have more than 200k on my toons as a whole so 50k would have been a huge chunk out of my budget for things I see more worthwhile for my toons. Iāve also never ever seen the fascination with collecting videogame currency to extreme levels. What do I need 5 million gold for if thereās nothing worthwhile (to me) to spend it on? But if people want to, fair play and good luck to them. same for the people who spent 50k on this customization.
Anyway. on a personal rant. Pirates are cliche ridden abominations as it is without charging 50k to more or less confirm it. And the announcement full of āarrā¦ avastā¦ scurvyā¦ā etc etc was justā¦

Today there are 4 WQs over there each giving 844 - 944 gold. Might actually be worth going over there this week, I might come out richer than going inā¦
you hoarders having 50m in your account doesnāt make 50k gold easy for everyone . there might be new players etc. so they should let players know beforehand if they add these kind of things. stop with the i grinded that with crafting in 10mins, good for you how much gold or time you spent to get that level and do new players know about that ? stop thinking everything within just your own world. this is too much gold and once again wow punishing new players for starting the game.

Well, simply put: gold doesnāt feel like good currency anymore.
Whilst it would have been cooler if we had to do a questline and only then it became purchasable.
50,000 isnāt much gold at all. You could probably save that up by doing herbing for about a week.
Heck, from the elemental things u get alone youād easily be able to get that amount.
It isnāt available on the proto-drake or the snek dragon, so I had no interest in it.
I also kind of expected all the resto shaman healing rain to flow out of the forums once people see the price of it. I do not personally think it is too high, but a forewarning about it would have done some good in this case.
That way those who want it and do not have the gold for it can start working on accumulating gold/whip out their credit card for it.
Not for a 1 day event.
I think for that price itād have been better if it was a customisation for all the DF dragons, instead of just one. I still wouldnāt have bought it, I didnāt like it shrugs, but I thought it was rather steep.
much as i like to criticise blizzard, these days 50k is like 3 greens
