Queen Regent Moira Thaurissan is exhausted. Her son, Dagran II, is rapidly coming of age and stands to inherit leadership of both the Dark Iron and Bronzebeard Clans. But Dagran is bookish and odd: He would easily choose the company of his library over leadership. Can Moira inspire her son to take up his birthright, or will her fears for his future—and the future of the clans—prove true?

Holy s***! This is good. For my money, this may be the best-written piece of Warcraft lore ever.
I knew Valente was good, but she still managed to impress me. She managed to get the point across without ever dropping character and writing a sermon (as much as I liked the Gazlowe short story, it did come across a little preachy at times). Moira has long been one of the most interesting WoW-characters and this finally gives her a voice. And what a voice! “This may be bitter soil to plant, my son. But it is spring, and you must, or there will be no harvest. The time for learning is over. The time for action has come, and I am so sorry it has.”
Looking forward to see more of Dagran in The War Within…
This is truly a brilliant story that allowed me to empathise with Moira and a great introduction to Dagran. He is a brilliant character; knowledge is power.
