In-Game Advertising & Services Channel in Burning Crusade Classic Anniversary

In-Game Advertising

Greetings!

We just updated our Support article regarding in-game advertising, in part to bring our policies regarding non-traditional services (including “boosting”) in Anniversary realms in line with other versions of WoW.

As a reminder, organizations who offer boosting, matchmaking, escrow, or other non-traditional services, including those offered for gold, are prohibited. World of Warcraft accounts found to be in violation of this policy are subject to account actions. These actions can include warnings, account suspensions, and, if necessary, permanent closure of the disruptive World of Warcraft account(s). Organizations operating across multiple realms and excessively advertising non-traditional in-game sales are contrary to the terms and conditions of the Blizzard End-User License Agreement (EULA).

This policy update does not restrict individuals or guilds from using the provided in-game tools (such as the Services chat channel) to buy or sell in-game services for in-game currency. However, “boosting communities”, especially those who operate across multiple realms, are not permitted.

Note: The policy around GDKP runs in Anniversary realms has not changed, and GDKP is not allowed on Anniversary realms in NA and EU.

Services Channel

With the launch of our Anniversary realms, we implemented a chat channel entitled “Services”. Players can enable the Services chat channel and use it specifically for advertising services such as portals, summons, and tribute buffs. All such advertising must be posted to this channel, and player chat of these kinds in other public channels are subject to player reports and actions taken by Blizzard.

For further information regarding in-game advertising and the use of these channels, please go to our Support article here: https://us.support.blizzard.com/en/help/article/187406

  • Developers’ note: The Trade channel that’s in the game will continue to exist, but messages about the request and advertisement of services like raiding, dungeons, or PvP activities should be directed to the Services channel. If you’re looking to buy or sell these kind of services, this is the channel for you! If you’re not interested in those, you can leave the channel and avoid the noise, or move it into its own chat tab. We believe that with this distinction, you’ll be able to use Trade chat for its traditional purposes of buying and selling items, seeking out profession services, and other non-disruptive chatter.

To join or leave the Services channel, players can type “/join Services” or “/leave Services”, or use the Channels UI by right clicking on the General chat tab, clicking Global Channels, and selecting from the available options.

  • Developers’ note: Unlike the modern version of World of Warcraft which requires you to be in a capital city to join or leave this channel, you can join the Services channel from anywhere in the world in all versions of WoW Classic.

Thank you very much for the clarification. Please remove the Anti-Boosting mechanics currently enabled on TBC Anniversary. Its just bad game design. It does not stop boosting it only annoys the players. The only good one out of those changes is the XP penalty if a mob is gray to someone. Fix your game and remove those nonsense features. You take all the fun away. Also take a look at Scarlet 58 mages running amok in there. Cant be that hard to write a few lines of code to detect freshly boosted 58 going straight to sm

I had a discussion a while ago with some people on this forums, that the gold boosting is not allowed. I told them then that it is.

Well, there you have it.

It is allowed , unless you are an organization.

Please do not hijack unrelated threads. Ban discussions aren’t allowed on the forums.

Just make boosting against TOS again and remove the Anti-Boosting Mehcanics.
Anti-slow/Enrage/Stun and no reset spots are not healthy for the game.

Cannot even turn in your Diremaul book without looking for a group, Cannot turn in seal of ascension without finding another LBRS group to reclear.

Imagine trying TBC Hardcore, being unable to use reset spots or kite outside of the dungeon. It’s simply not a good solution, does more harm than good. Just make boosting AGAINST TOS and be done with it.

Why are you so invested in blocking a fellow player from support? Also I have noticed numerous ban-related discussion on the forums, hence why I am also trying my luck here.

You cannot receive support for ban appeals over the forums as you were told in your own thread.

Then you have also noticed the various responses by me, or Blizzardians telling the same thing.

This entire thread has 0 to do with your penalty, hence a thread hijack.

How exactly does this change anything?

The organizations for boosting and goldselling already hire people to simply provide their service in game, that they communicate outside the game otherwise, like discord.

Why would someone boosting for RMT organizations disclose openly something that will get them banned, when they can simply communicate this on discord and have no fear of you not being able to differentiate between someone doing it on an individual level and someone doing it on an organized level.

This to me, seems like a horrible mistake, that just leaves TONS of wiggle room for RMT organizations to operate within. Very sad decision.

Was hoping you had finally taken a strong stance against RMT, but I guess not..

I’m sure they have their way of finding if some “normal player who just boost” is working with organizations or not.

Does this mean that advertising services in LFG is a violation of TOS?

And what constitutes as a service? Strictly speaking, any person offering to form a group in exchange for reserving items for themselves should be treated as a service, and as such only allowed on services chat?

I truly hope it does, so we could potentially get rid of this toxic behavior in pugs

Yes, there’s the Services tab now for that from anywhere.

Yeah they might on an individual base – but you are talking thousands and thousands of interactions every single day by potentially more and more accounts by RMTers to further hide their activity. How would blizzard ever have time or manpower to individually go into every single one of these cases of people doing these activities 24/7 and judge if there is something shady going on? They simply can’t.

That is also why the blanket ban on the advertising would be FAR better, because it would eliminate any incentive towards even attempting it and make it extremely clear when it did happen, that it was breaking the rules.

How you have a HUGE amount of argumentation ability from RMTers, that they are simply individuals that provide a service.

Well… This line is just a bunch of bullsh*t. I have done both of the activities after prepatch launched to no issue. There are ways, if only someone would inform themself.

Players on spineshatter thru lvl 1 alts - keep advertising boosting in the trade channel !

Then report them, its against ToS to use a alt to advertise services

Remember this post blizzard ?

Didn’t age well right ?

Do something before it’s too late

But they are? For example, this guy attempting to justify his advertising in LFG and got hit with a 10 day suspension:

Or today again:

Those are max lvl player doing it not subtly enough with their main char, and they don’t sell boost, they do sell tank service (yep both forbidden i know)

Real booster create a lvl 1 and spam with it, delete character and create a new one to spam every X hour/minute (so ignore/report don’t work since 1 player can create lot of lvl 1 alt for it).

A good measure would be to remove ability to speak in trade for level below lvl 10, forcing them to waste 1hour to level a char to do it.

Blizzard can both track what account a char is made on, and what IP its being played from so Reporting could actually still be useful even if the usefulness is not visible right away.
