Designed to empower players to help shape the World of Warcraft community, the WoW Ambassador program opens new opportunities to connect with others, find support among your peers, and make new friends.
Didnât we have this as the âWoW Discord Community Programâ before?
I feel like this is just a re-branding.
Pretty much. Lets hope Blizzard donât try to strongarm âAbassadorsâ into signing legally binding contracts.
Still.
It all smacks of âwe donât have GMâs anymore, so ask these guysâ
Edit. I am not suggesting they will have any powers. Thatâs my point. They will have absolutely no powers. They are essentially just a smokescreen because Blizzard canât be bothered to âlook afterâ their own game as it were, and once again, donât seem to understand how the internet works. They actually think everyone who logs in to WoW skips hand in hand down a path.
Blizzard is a multi billion a year company.
This sounds a lot more thought out and could work. Iâm sure it wonât be immune to trolling and drama because unfortunately thatâs just what people bring anywhere. Itâs good that they have embraced Discord and I hope it helps newbies to the game and different features.
Like they did with the forums. Now MVPs have markers⌠like Blizzard employees.
Iâm guessing MVPs had to agree to some terms to âget greenâ.
I remember newcomer chat having some idiots spamming various things.
Our vision is simple: foster engagement and connection among players
Start by creating housing with a real town center, where players can settle around bustling streets⌠and not on plots of land 500 meters apart. With real group activities, not just sweeping up oil ponds and rounding up chickens.
Doing things on Discord is like Twitch drops : it just takes players away from the game, and the in-game content becomes more and more idle and secondary.
Donât bother Blizzard, Iâve been trying this for over 20 years. This lot are a hopeless cause. ![]()
Well i guess third time is the charm after the council fail and discord programme. Only thing that ever worked is the MvP Punyelf, Anada and Sen do good work hell even Jito did back in the day ![]()
I am not sure why people think they are going to be GMs.
Just like most people think mvp are gm ![]()
Workplace thinking attempting to shape gaming communities, thatâs what I see here. People do not want to be âmanagedâ either in the workplace or in their communities.
I would like to be the ambassador for people who want a better story, can you schedule me a meeting with the story team please? Thank you.
Been reading through this, and I donât feel like putting forth the Vulpera community for this.
Iâd rather have people just find us on the forum and join our Discord that way than be bound by Blizzard.
I would be interested in the terms.
What exactly have the ambassadors to do?
What will be the benefits for the participating communities?
What rights does Blizzard want regarding the participating communities?
Will there be a legally binding contract, like there had been (or still is) for the community discord program?
I am all up for working together, even more if it supports or benefits the community I run - Iâd just want more information than what is given to us atm.
It is not very transparent to write an application for something I have so little information on.
Chaermi of the Argent Dawn EU Roleplay Discord
Thereâs very little substance as to what the criteria are for this.
For example, I run a city-based server. But I also run an artist server for AD artists, and I run a guild server, and I run a multi-guild server. Those are just the ones I consider my more important ones.
Which one would be considered the one to apply with?
What are the limitations?
What kind of experience am I required to have? Do I need to do content all the time? Do I have to PvP as well? Is there a minimum on how much content I have to do?
Is it just content players or are RPers allowed too?
Is there a contract we would have to sign and if so, is it going to affect how we play and run our servers? Is it going to inflict its own set of rules on our servers?
This is just a tad too vague and Iâm not sure how this is any different from previous attempts.
If it plays out how I think it plays out, itâs a bad idea.
You should not empower players to have any decisions on how the game evolves.
They did that in Eve-online, what tended to happen is those representatives, ended to up representing mainly their own corps (which were large, how a lot of them got elected) and their own play styles. Probably one of the reasons I gave up playing it.
So do not give players power to change the direction of the game as representatives as they all have their own agendas and itâs open to abuse.
I donât think it is really anything like that, just an expansion on communities so people can find their niche. How many times do people come to the forums asking how to make friends or get into x content? With gamers mostly being on discord it makes perfect sense to have one imo.
If thatâs the case then thatâs ok, as long as it doesnât evolve into what I said.
I suppose weâll see, butâŚ
âfoster engagement and connection among players, ensuring everyone feels at homeâ
Server mods already do this without needing a special program and there are people who take initiative to ensure servers and useful threads are listed somewhere easy to find. I am not sure what this program can add that isnât already there other than some blind sense of prestige. Not be negative, but we already have enough of that in the community, believe me.
