Are you a new player, returning after a break, or seeking to level up your play style? We invite you to join WoW Portal Room, a Discord server where you can meet just the right people.
No thank you.
I want less Discord, not more.
Wanting to help new players (as far as we’re still getting those) find their way and have a place to go is nice and all but your first go-to move for help and support really shouldn’t be 3rd party websites or programs.
If I’m a new player to any game and it tells me to join some discord in order to play it “properly” you’ve already lost me. Same goes for support telling me to check wowhead ![]()
Participating Discords enjoy special recognition, access to exclusive events, and direct support from Blizzard—making every server a more vibrant place to connect.
And this is why it’ll be full of even more disingenuous people than the newcomer chat.
I’d be happily proven wrong though. Best of luck to new players!
here’s an idea, encourage people to engage with other players in-game and on the forum of the official site where we are now
i don’t engage with fandom communities outside of official websites because, quite honestly, they’re insane and prone to needless petty drama and flawed moderation that conveniently cultivates a, well, cult
This is 100% accurate. They should stop pushing players toward external tools, but for them it’s easier and cheaper because they don’t have to put any funding or development time into it. But Blizzard really needs to pull out their finger and reinvigorate the guild finder because it’s absolute trash. The community section within World of Warcraft needs to be properly maintained and, more importantly, upgraded, because none of it has ever been touched. This game is supposed to be social, yet they’re making it so that if you actually want to be social, you have to take it outside the game, which is honestly pathetic.
Pretty much I would prefer if people would have more reason for guilds and communities in general inside the game.
Didnt they just announce add some face id thingy on discord, not interested of that or discord in general though.
Exactly this, group dynamic and communities are dying in the game since they made pvp majorly played through soloqs. I would much rather see some reason to network and guild up inside the game than some add for 3rd program.
As someone who came back after a 10+ years hiatus, I couldn’t agree more ![]()
The newcomers channel is a good idea… but you get removed from it pretty quickly.
I too find it odd that the interaction with other players is not encouraged to be made through something inside the game but some 3rd program that not everyone even use.
One thing that all of us use though is world of warcraft, were all here because we play the game named wow and are connected by this video game so wouldnt it make more sense to focus on the game then than some stuff which not everyone use, discord, twitch and whatever.
Everyone are free to do whatever they want with those other softwares on their own decision but we dont need to make any of those 3rd program part of wow somehow (twitch drops?) if obviously not everyone use them.
I play wow and so does everyone else found in the game, we are connected through wow.exe. Thank you.
It’s not a support server it’s to help connect players up with communities.
Because pugs are not necessarily very friendly and players complain about how they are treated.
The support thing was just another example of them referring 3rd party options which I’m not a fan of that’s all.

A discord server isn’t going to help new players, we need a good new player experience. The current state of the new player experience is … bad.
Yey more layering more phasing sharding and more discord. Let the few thousand of players split.
Is that even MMO?
yes. discord is spyware
Help people? Yes, of course
Free labor through a third party app? I don’t think so.
You have removed almost every in-game assistance and now are asking the community to do what is meant to be your job.
This game runs horribly. It might be that my laptop is too weak, or that it’s lagging. Maybe both, but it’s unplayable.
lets hope it doesnot mean the end of forum down the road in future but then you can expect such dumb decisions from blizzard .
