Class Tuning Incoming – 1 September

This week, we’ve continued to examine Mythic+, Raid, and PvP data. Considering last week’s tuning, there are some specs that could benefit from further adjustment, especially underperforming specs in Raiding and Mythic+. For PvP, our goal is to reduce overall defensiveness and healing while also increasing offensive capabilities for low performing specializations.

Classes

  • Death Knight
    • Frost
      • Developers’ notes: We’re aiming to increase Frost Death Knight’s performance in single target and two target cleave scenarios.
      • Howling Blast main target damage increased by 15%.
      • Obliterate damage increased by 15%.
      • Frost Strike damage increased by 20%.
      • Melee damage increased by 10%.
  • Demon Hunter
    • Havoc
      • All damage increased by 4%. This does not affect PvP combat.
    • Vengeance
      • Developers’ notes: Vengeance is still performing below expectations defensively, so universal mitigation effects are getting a buff. Additionally, Fel Devastation’s effectiveness as a recovery tool has fallen behind as maximum health pools go up, so its healing is being increased.
      • Demonic Wards now reduces damage taken by 15% (was 12%).
      • Void Reaver now causes Frailty to reduce damage taken by 6% (was 5%).
      • Fel Devastation healing increased by 25%.
  • Druid
    • Shred damage increased by 10%.
    • Balance
      • All ability damage increased by 4%. Does not affect PvP combat.
    • Feral
      • Developers’ notes: Feral is performing below expectations, particularly in raid encounters, so we’re providing both an overall lift as well as some specific buffs to single-target abilities.
      • All ability damage increased by 5%. Does not apply to PVP combat.
      • Auto-attack damage increased by 10%.
      • Ferocious Bite damage increased by 10%.

      • All ability damage increased by 3%. Does not apply to PvP combat.
    • Frost

      • Consecration damage increased by 30%.
      • Divine Guidance damage increased by 30%.
  • Priest
    • Discipline
      • Shadow Mend mana cost reduced by 20%.
  • Shaman
    • Hero Talents
      • Farseer
        • Fixed an issue that caused Natural Harmony to increase the healing of Nature’s Guardian by 20% instead of its listed and intended 10%.

Player versus Player

  • Developers’ notes: Healers are able to top off targets too quickly in PvP, resulting in very long combat times. We’re reducing the primary stat from the PvP trinket set bonus for all healer specializations to increase the pace of combat.
  • Gladiator’s Distinction set bonus grants 5% primary stat for all healing specializations (was 10%).
  • Demon Hunter
    • Devourer
      • All ability damage increased by 5% in PvP combat.
    • Havoc
      • Rain from Above now deals damage equal to 6% of max health per bolt (was 8%).
  • Druid
    • Innervate grants 20% mana in PvP combat (was 25%).
    • Feral
      • Developers’ notes: We’re increasing Feral’s general damage, especially for Druid of the Claw, and nudging down their defensiveness to speed up the pace of combat for Feral.
      • Ravage (Druid of the Claw) damage increased by 15% in PvP combat.
      • Survival Instincts reduces damage taken by 40% in PvP combat (was 50%).
    • Restoration
      • Developers’ notes: We’re increasing Restoration’s overall healing while at the same time reducing the power of Swiftmend and some of their mana regeneration talents. The goal is to better balance Restoration’s healing kit to not be so reliant on Swiftmend to top up allies.
      • Potent Enchantments increases the duration of Incarnation: Tree of Life by 4 seconds in PvP combat (was 6 seconds).
      • Reforestation grants Incarnation: Tree of Life for 8 seconds in PvP combat (was 10 seconds).
      • Swiftmend healing reduced by 20% in PvP combat.
      • Blossom Burst (Ancient of Lore PvP talent) costs 1.89% base mana (was free).
      • Blossom Burst (Ancient of Lore PvP talent) now prioritizes applying Rejuvenation over Lifebloom.
      • Mass Blooming (Ancient of Lore PvP talent) costs 3.5% base mana (was free).
  • Evoker
    • Devastation
      • Developers’ notes: The Devastation Flameshaper build is not being utilized much compared to Scalecommander. We’re increasing the power of some Flameshaper focused spells to open up more options for them.
      • Disintegrate triggers Consume Flame at 200% effectiveness in PvP combat (was 150%).
      • Enkindle damage increased to 30% in PvP combat (was 20%).
      • Expanded Lungs increases damage of Fire Breath’s periodic by 40% in PvP combat (was 30%).
    • Preservation
      • Mana regeneration is now reduced by 35% in PvP combat (was 30%).
  • Hunter
    • Beast Mastery
      • Developers’ notes: Beast Mastery’s damage during burst windows is higher than we’d like in PvP, reducing some of the abilities that can contribute to this situation.
      • Bloodshed damage reduced by 25% in PvP combat.
      • Bestial Wrath initial damage reduced by 10% in PvP combat.
      • Pack Leader: Stampede! damage reduced by 10% in PvP combat.
  • Mage
    • Developers’ notes: Mages have been extending the duration of PvP matches with frequent access to strong defensive abilities, so we’re reducing the effectiveness of their barriers and the cooldown of Ice Block. Fire damage is also being reduced to bring them in line with other specializations.
    • Improved Conjuration reduces the cooldown of Mirror Image by 15 sec in PvP combat.
    • Winter’s Protection reduces Ice Block cooldown by 15/30 sec in PvP combat. Tooltip in PvP will be updated in a later patch.

    • Fire
      • Blazing Barrier absorb reduced by 25% in PvP combat.

    • Frost
      • Ice Barrier absorb reduced by 25% in PvP combat.
  • Priest
    • Discipline
      • Developers’ notes: Discipline could use some help, particularly Voidweaver, so we’re increasing some of its absorption and Atonement healing capabilities to bring them on par with other healers.
      • Void Shield absorption increased by 15% in PvP combat.
      • Power Word: Shield absorption increased by 15% in PvP combat.
      • Atonement healing increased by 10% in PvP combat.
  • Rogue
    • Developers’ notes: Rogues’ defensive potential improves in coordinated play and as ratings increase, with the predictive effect of Preemptive Maneuver standing out as being too rewarding, so it’s being brought down to be more appropriate.
    • Preemptive Maneuver now reduces damage taken by 25% while its effect is active (was 40%)
    • Assassination
      • All ability damage reduced by 4% in PvP combat.
  • Shaman
    • Elemental
      • Developers’ notes: Elemental’s Farseer hero talent tree is performing better than expected defensively, and its Stormbringer hero talent tree is performing below expectations offensively. As a result we’re targeting key effects of each type to adjust: Natural Harmony’s improvements for the Nature’s Guardian effect are being diminished, while multiple key Stormbringer effects (including Tempest itself) are receiving buffs intended to improve overall damage and burst potential.
      • Farseer: Natural Harmony now reduces the cooldown of Nature’s Guardian by 10 seconds (was 15 seconds) in PvP combat.
      • Stormbringer: Tempest damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
      • Stormbringer: Natural Gift now increases Nature damage by 4% (was 2%) in PvP combat.
      • Stormbringer: Stormcaller now increases Nature spell critical strike damage by 10% (was 5%) in PvP combat.
    • Enhancement
      • Developers’ notes: Enhancement is on the weaker side offensively, so we’re increasing some of its sustained damage while also reducing its healing capabilities slightly.
      • Healing Surge healing reduced by 20% in PvP combat.
      • Stromstrike damage increased by15% in PvP combat.
      • Lava Lash damage increased by 15% in PvP combat.
  • Warrior
    • Developers’ notes: Arms and Fury Warriors provide strong group defensive utility through the Safeguard PvP talent, but the frequency of damage reduction prevented enemy teams from having a window of time to strike.
    • Arms
      • Safeguard (PvP Talent) now increases the cooldown of Intervene by 20 seconds.
    • Fury
      • Safeguard (PvP Talent) now increases the cooldown of Intervene by 20 seconds.

this is the 3rd consequtive class tunning you buffing bm while this will make bm probably best hunter spec in M+

raid viability is not great

still maybe you should not THAT massively nerf a spec from ptr

Whose expectations? Bcuz it cant be players. You’ve clearly decided Feral isnt going to be a good raid choice with Midnight as we can see from the lack of of actual devleopment.
Why not add Saber Jaws to also provide damage to Ravage?
When will Incarnation be buffed to make it even close to Convoke? Right now its atleast a 10-15k dps drop.
None of these changes will make Feral better in Raid fights where there are adds. They either die too fast or are too spread for Primal Wrath to be of actual value.

Primal Wraths Rip damage needs to be on a shorter duration for it to do any significant damage. 10-12seconds is too long. Cut it in half but the same damage and itll be of note.

Please fix Unholy DK. Blightfall doesn’t take into account all the damage modifiers from Dread Plague and Virulent Plague.

Also why is every Unholy DK’s pet damage not displayed correctly in the damage meter? It wrongly displays that they deal 8-10% less damage.

aaand that seals the hope of shadow beeing a decent class choice in pvp once again..

Why are you trying to punish Unholy for being one of the most popular specs?

The logs clearly show that Unholy is currently the 6th-worst DPS spec, yet you buffed several specs that were already performing worse than Unholy, while one of the strongest DPS specs in the game is also receiving a buff.

At this point, it genuinely feels like these balance changes are being generated by AI that simply isn’t being fed the correct data.

If balance is supposed to be based on actual performance, the current decisions make absolutely no sense.

Prot paladin is less tanky then season 1 prot paladin, and it was not even meta fix that please.

Also do m+ trinket tuning and cut the crap with increased item levels and cantrip effects from raid.

Soo ATM, u tunned H Paladin into trashbin(and gap is bigger with every week-other healers are constsntly getting buffed). Another season of priest/druids in top. ATM Playing as h pala against disc/rdudu is already hard and soon will be impossible. AWC will show how strong is holy pala -prediction 0 or 1 player will use spec.

When Disc was undertunned spec got constant buffs from beggining of the season alltrought all spellbook compared to MW ? Guys why Hpala need to suffer in PvP for so long?

Give malicone his voodoo :dracthyr_nod:

As a long time resto druid enjoyer, no amount of numerical buff will make resto druid enjoyable in M+. I would copy paste the message I put in the last class tuning announcement, but it’s not like it’s gonna make a difference.

Subscription runs out in 6 days - thank you for an excellent season 1! Even if druid ended up being the weakest healer of all, I had a lot of fun with the class while it lasted.

hope they will buff it to bring you back .:dracthyr_nod:

What the hell is wrong with you guys???

You’ve already reduced our healing by 20% in battlegrounds (and in all other instanced PvP with the dampening). The healing we currently have is insufficient. You’re just blindly stumbling around without any idea of the PvP situation.

Enhanced shaman will have, between the previous reduction and this one, 40% less healing in PvP, having the worst defensives in the game, and you call It “SLIGHTLY”???

Hey there Linxy!

I appreciate you posting these perhaps you are just the messenger passing along what the team already “Tried to balance” and you are not the one making the calls.

However, genuine question for whoever actually is tuning the numbers… Did anyone sit down and compare these changes actually side by side before merging the pr ? Because if they did, this wouldn’t have made it out the door!

Honestly, if they just fed the data into claude and ask it to do a sanity check for gaps between the different specs before publishing, it would probably do better job than this…

Resto druid is already in a strong spot, and this patch just widens the gap instead of bringing healers to the same level 4% overall healing on top of their utility and then this doesn’t impact them at all

  • Gladiator’s Distinction set bonus grants 5% primary stat for all healing specializations (was 10%).

Resto shaman has already been nerfed into the ground over the past few patches and it’s unplayable.Don’t even get me started on tier set for PVP - great joke tbf, but the universal cut destroys holy paladin and mistweaver monk even futher..

Meanwhile Disc walks away with three stacked buff on shield , atonemend healing and shadowmend mana cost?

Anyway we all know what healer is getting played at blizzcon at this point lol.

where is AUG EVOKER ???

EVERY SEASON AUG EVOKER GETS DESTROYED AGAIN AGAIN AGAIN AND AGAIN
WHAT IS YOUR PORBLEM WITH THIS CLASS ???
EVERY SEASON I NEED TO REROLL MY MAIN SPEC BECAUSE AUG EVOKER IS TRASH

(getting kicked or insulted for playing my main spec is really not fun !)

Stormbringer pvp changes: you still know lightning bolt the main ability of stormbringer does 30k dmg? I had a game freecasting and enemys passivly healed against that dmg. Devour consume ability same cast time cast while moving 85k. Hmm. Lightning bolt is at least 40-60% undertuned in pvp. But at least some baby steps i see. Maybe i can play my class at end the season… 4% nerf on assa no comment. Maybe now only 95% of the lobbys are with assas

Are we for real still leaving Blur at 15% damage reduction?

You literally get tab targeted with Blur active as a DH right now and you still die

Blizzard, you REMOVED NETHERWALK. AN IMMUNITY.

Stop keeping DH the equivallent to mosquitos that get swatted by a newspaper. We already immediately die and force healer cooldowns if we take the slightest stun.

(talking PVP)

Let me just look at the Archon data to see if that +5% for Mistweaver is going to help… Nope, it’s not going to do a damned thing. Time to just bench my healer I guess.

is blizzard new way to tune specs to make one good in raid and another in M+

guess we finally have a season without a dk being s tier but blizzard just could not STAND warlock not being in S team rite

anyway i have no clue why some specs are trashed to bottom like aug tbh the explaination i can come up with is that they have no clue what to do with it without not making it broken or trash
