Since our previous note on the subject of addressing Real Money Transactions (RMT) in WoW: Forever, we have been continuously actioning accounts that were found to be botting to amass gold in the WoW: Forever Beta, as well as the accounts of those who were found to have purchased or knowingly received illicit gold. We will continue to take action against RMT in both the Beta and the live game after the launch of WoW: Forever.
We will soon add a warning to the game that will appear whenever you trade with strangers. The warning reads:
Be wary of accepting gold from unknown or suspicious sources. If the provider is engaged in Real Money Transactions, you could put your account at risk of closure. Please see the following support article for more information: https://support.blizzard.com/help/article/379634
Our stance on RMT in World of Warcraft is crystal clear: any account belonging to any player that is found to have participated in generating, selling, buying, or receiving illicit gold is subject to the gold being removed, account suspensions, or permanent account closures.
Thank you to every player who has provided feedback on this subject. You’ve participated in making this Beta invaluable to us as we refine our processes around this and many other issues.
So basically don’t take enchanting as a profession, just incase the person trading you gold for an enchant bought it or got bought gold from somewhere?
Or don’t trade items at all and just use the AH, never know if the gold the person is paying for a rare drop with is bought gold, it doesn’t come with a tag you know.
to fix this and protect users can you implent scrolls for enchanters to upload enchants to and sell on auction house as at the moment the system leaves enchanters exposed to dodgy gold owners using there gold to buy our enchants as we wont know whos gold is dodgy and if we use our mats and a bad apples abuses the gold buying we loose our gold earned which for us is fair trade (not the way they earned it) but also the expensive mats used to create said enchant
if the streamers make another account. and blizzard has allready banned the “main” account. Knowing who it is. they really should just ban the new account.
they probably wont. but they should. it would show the world they take it seriously, and that “bypassing” the ban is no guarantee at all
Not to be that guy but the few recent high profile streamers who were “caught” should be used to send a message.
This message won’t appease the mob unfortunately.
Do a thorough investigation and punish the perpetrators. Ban all their accounts for 6months, extending in the release and not just the one they RMT’d on.
If any of us got banned and created a new account we would be banned for ban evasion.
Streamers should be held to a higher standard to the rules, because they are the face of the game.
please enable reporting it always says it’s unavailable, we see lots of bots but they are stuck in the game. let them waste their money buying new access, subscription and ban.
the focus have been on the farmers and the sellers for years now. it aint working. atleast not alone. they really need to put a high focus on the buyers. because as long as buys get away with it. they will keep buying. and as long as they keep buying. the farmers and the sellers just write the bans off as “buisness expense”
Having competitive resource nodes leave the door wide open for bots. Blizzard find it hard to deal with bots whilst leaving the door open for them. It’s easier to fix the problem by closing the door than it is to ban the bots and gold buyers. This leads me to believe that Blizzard has a symbiotic nature with them and readily allow them in. You dont complain its hard to catch flies in your house if you leave the windows and doors open, you close them and not have to deal with them. No other game has this issue, so why does Blizzard? Let’s see that on a discussion video?..
I play on my main account and make money on my second account with crafting while i play and then send the gold over to my main. Both on the same battle.net account
Will this provoke an automatic system alarm or something?
