How PvP Progression in World of Warcraft: Forever Works

World of Warcraft: Forever reimagines PvP (Player vs. Player) progression with an approachable system built around Honor, Rank Points, seasonal goals, and familiar original ranks. Players can earn rewards through battlegrounds, PvP quests, weekly journey tasks, and gear upgrades while working toward iconic titles such as High Warlord and Grand Marshal.

Please don’t do the weeklies thing… WoW specifically set out to avoid this… Retail’s bleeding back into Classic again.

Also, could you start posting Forever news in the Forever forum instead?

My thoughts exactly - one of the things I’m trying to avoid is weekly checkboxes I feel I need to hit. Just having X item cost Y Honor and Z rank is enough.

Maybe give some love to retail pvp also .instead of just abandoning it for a new paint

The grind to get points on a weekly base is exactly how it works in Classic, only difference is that you dont get your Points based one the comparison from your time invested vs other peoples time. It has nothing to do with retail, its Just a system that respects your time way more then before.

There’s a reason that system was hated.

It’s completely different from anything else in vanilla.

Please don’t do that system. It’s unhealthy at all. Having to farm every freaking week without taking any break is not fun at all.

Is battlegrounds and World PvP going to be the only source of Pvp even in Wow forever?

There is a dying PvP community in all other versions of Wow, we could seriously need Arena or rated duels in Wow forever. It would finally unite a large playerbase with really fun PvP.

It’s not going to be perfectly balanced, and you don’t need any specific rewards other than tabards, cosmetics, titles and leaderboards. It would be so much fun, and so many Pvpers want this to happen in forever.

Updating battlegrounds feels like a punch in the gut, as battlegrounds usually is means to an end rather than something most Pvpers enjoy.

I hope there will not be competition on the weekly honor amounts anymore, that old vanil system would not work with all players in same realm and the needed honor per week would rise too high if made as competition with the entire player base on one realm.

Classic show the “foundation of the original system” doesnt work anymore in big realms, if in vanil 300k honor per week was good, now in classic in big realms people nolife over million per week (some characters even played by multiple people) and many people didnt see it sensible to even start.

In retail everyone on the forum is saying that pvp doesnt matter and that is a side thing to do in wow.

For years i was talking about how pvp is one of the most important part of the game because it never expire and that blizzard should do more for it. People dont agree so they deserve how empty retail feels now.

I dont remember blizzard ever learning from mistakes of the past .when Microsoft bought blizzard ,it was a match made in heaven.

I have lost count of brands destroyed by microsoft . Nokia ,bungie(halo) ,zune, encarta, groove music , mixer streaming platform.

bethesda and xbox are probably next,in line the way things are going at microsoft.

The situation is going to become even worse with more layoffs . I am pretty sure the next lay offs will also effect people working on blizzard games .

Has there been any additional information regarding how seasons will work? If I get to rank 14 will I be able to keep that when the next season launches or will it be a hard reset back to rank 1?

yeah remove pvp entirely from retail, serves no purpose

My only hope is that if I want to PvP I should be able to obtain the most high end PvP rewards and not having to worry about having to obtain a BiS or a Might of Menethil 2.0 for my Warrior char.

What, bgs have always been the preferred content for most. Even many content creators want to see pvp reimagined in Forever and would rather have some 5v5 mode added than arena as we know it now. I myself am not against adding it, but just saying.

Yes. The only reason the focus went on arenas in retail is because they made the mistake of trying make mmo about esport around tbc and later they said it were mistake but we are still stuck with this design with small scale team death match type 3v3 format giving the best end game rewards.

I say good riddance and well done if they never make the same mistake of adding such small scale tedious esport type content in forever. Mmo is suppose to be about battlegrounds and maps with objectives and bigger than the small arena terrains which are absolute horrendous for range dps to play in.

Even in most shooters the objective based modes are more popular than team death match formats. It turns out majority doesnt like sweating small scale team death match 3v3 awc type gameplay over and over, they want to go in battlegrounds and spend time in an mmo and have fun instead of sweating every minute of the gameplay.

Retail pvp is tiresome and blizzard neglect alone arent the only reason why it died. People dont care sweat every minute they play a video game, 3v3 TDM type format should never be the main focus of mmo. Leave it for the esport lads in other games better suited for it like mobas.
