Get ready to make your mark in Azeroth! World of Warcraft: Forever Early Name reservations will be available from 27 October through 3 November, offering an early opportunity to reserve names for up to three characters.
No thanks no RP PVP means I could not care less.
The wording suggests we will get it but I’m surprised after their hard no before.
During the reservation period, eligible players* can create and reserve names for up to three characters total across all Rulesets. This means that if you create two on a PvP Ruleset, you’ll only be able to create one more character in a Normal or Role-Play Ruleset. This restriction only applies to Early Name Reservation.
They way it is written makes it look like PvP Rulesets will have Normal or RP.
Name Reservation Start Times
- Europe: 27 October at 18:00 CET
Could also be interpreted as PvP / Normal / RP as the three rulesets available.
You’re 100% correct. The wording sends the wrong message, especially after that video where they said there wouldn’t really be any RP-PvP servers. It makes me wonder whether the article was written by someone who misunderstood the server structure or whether AI was used without the correct parameters.
Another thing I dislike is that they wait until the very bottom to tell people they need to buy one of the packs to reserve a name. That should be the first thing mentioned, followed by the details. Leaving it until the end gives people the impression they can reserve a name for free, only to reveal the catch later. It feels misleading and unnecessarily predatory.
True I think think I’m just reading it wrong.
There is no other way to read it than what they wrote. 3 Rulesets, 3 names across all 3 Rulesets. The 3 Rulesets are PvP, Normal, and Role-Play. There won’t be subsets to any Ruleset.
They showed at Blizzcon there will only be the three (Normal, PvP and RP) megaservers at release with Hardcore being the fourth in a few months
I’ll be on RP, it’s fun to watch folks RP’ing in town
I know what they showed and the No RP PVP realms in the interviews.
What is not said if we will really just need the Heroic Package or if also active Gametime is needed to acess the Servers for Reserving our Names.
As per the pre-purchase overview, WoW: Forever Early Name Reservation requires at least the Skyborne Heroic Pack.
Nope it requires just Heroic.
Is it still the double name crap?
No one reserve Dwarfy McDwarfface.
Hard agree on this, no RP PVP ruleset means I will refund WoW Forever on the spot, regardless of whatever I will be missing out on.
GIVE US RP-PVP, WOW FOREVER TEAM!
I got my names ready, and I’m excited for launch!
So, do you create your characters you are actually going to play so the name reserves? or you just create names?
We really need to talk about our lord and savior, the RP-PVP server.
Here is my take:
While big planned RP-PVP events on a RP-PVE server is cool and all, and they really are, the feel of battles and conflicts happening organically, is the bread and butter of RP-PVP.
Just like you can grief on a RP-PVP server and corpse camp and be very “Non-RP” friendly in your approach, you can also “ambush” RP-PVPers on RP-PVE servers by keep your flag off, only to turn it on, when you know you will “win” or got the upperhand or all your friends have arrived to make a united push, instead of risking anything, cause they have “Untouchable spotters” which you can´t kill or interact with, in a RP-PVP scenario, unless you are on discord or such together.
I like both concepts, butt RP-PVP is at its best in classic, and the game lend itself really well to such scenarios, and robbing people of the chance of this experience is nearly a crime, atleast from the “thrill” and the love of organic/random warfare in the game, really is a thrill.
I had more great than bad pvp experiences on RP-PVP, than not, and you can still grief and destory events on both RP-PVE and RP-PVP. - Having “unkillable” players harassing RP’ers is just as annoying as RP-PVP harassment, if not more in certain situations, cause the only thing you can do is, move to a “safe” location / instance, or report them them to Blizz, which rarely amounts to anything.
If there is a good core of RP’ers on a RP-PVP server, you can rally up an army and beat the trolls in their own game, if you so prefer, there is a “outlet” in a way.
But these are just “bad cases” of a mostly epic situation, more than not, people will have fun interactions, and not always just attack on sight, sometimes there may even be attempts on communication or even skirmishing, which lead to big battles, where the narrative slowly writes itself, and people across community chats + discord, can establish communication between factions, to deep the rp, need it be.
RP-PVP is just the “organic Wild West feel” vs the more organized version, where planning every step is needed, which needs organization, time and planning, and time.
The “fear” and unerving feeling of being a target always, is a thrill too, that you can really recreate the same way on a RP-PVE server, you can, but its very artificial and you can opt-out easily aswell.
As cool as one big mega über rp server may be, it may create unwanted situations, if not both “paths” are heard and facilitated, even resentment or colides in visions and goals.
The is no “true” or right path here, both are great, but they are vastly different in both feel and execution.
TLDR: Both are great, but let people choose themself which they prefer, rather than forcing one path upon the playerbase/each other.
This is to me the most optimal path, for both maxmium happyness, and the health/spririt of the communities.
The freedom of choice is the keyword here, and let people choose themselves what kind of experience they would like their Forever War to be like.
“You think you do, but you don´t” Is not the right path, thats for sure.
- To quote some guy, who had to eat his words in the end.
PS: Looking forward to fun RP events and epic momments with y’all <3
- Shout out to Zandalari Tribe and the old school RP-PVP servers of ancient times like Defias Brotherhood and others! From the very beginning, to the fresh new folk around!
We create the character(s) we’re actually going to play to reserve the names.
