This “faction” is currently unavailable on this ruleset due to population imbalance?
Seriously, we are a group of friends who want to play together and we have chosen a faction, now I can’t use my Name reservation because of population imbalance, wtf?

It sounds reasonable, to be honest?
If you’re fine with reserving a single name, reserve that name on the available faction. Then periodically try to recreate the character on the faction you want. At some point the server will allow it.
No what I said is:
The community team handles that, which gathers feedback from those forums/other options. CS itself doesn’t for example, adjust locks, sets quotas etc etc - this is all policy above them or in other teams. Otherwise everyone would just spam useless tickets “pls give unlock it for only me” and so on.
The game may indeed temporarily lock the creation of new character for a faction, if one faction is significantly more dominant than the other. Customer Support is unable to unlock this manually.

I agree, it’s really disappointing that people who bought the beta access specifically to play together can’t queue for Horde PvP—especially since there’s only one server available. In the past, if a server was full, a group could simply switch to another one. Now that option is gone. Some of my friends bought the beta just to reserve their names and play together in the same faction…
It feels like a real slap in the face that they implemented the faction balance system as early as the name reservation phase. Blizzard knows full well that a massive number of players who didn’t buy the beta will join after November 4th, which means the balance system would easily sort itself out naturally after that date.
Most people seem to report they can if they are patient and retry.. In my guild many have just kept trying once every 5-10 min and they all got their horde characters now.
Patience is virtue I guess.. I remember picking alliance in classic beginning and found out later that it was 90% horde on the server… Let me tell you, trying to do BRD was impossible 2 hours to walk from flight path to instance. This system at the lest makes it less likely to be so utterly dominated.
