You killed Resto druid again im done

I have been playing WoW for over 20 years, and I love the Restoration Druid. Sadly, Resto Druids have always been the last healers people want to invite to raids or dungeons. For the first time in 20 years, Resto Druid was finally looking fun and playable, but Blizzard, you have killed the class once again. The 0.5-second GCD was desperately needed for Resto Druids. Not only did you remove that, but you also made Wild Growth a 3-second cast time. Wild Growth is supposed to be a quick heal. How can it be a quick heal with a 3-second cast time? By the time I finish casting it, everyone is already at full health because of the other healers, resulting in yet another massive overheal for the Druid.

Blizzard, you killed Restoration Druid and buffed other classes just to please complaining streamers—we all know it. It is no wonder people stop playing the game after just a month or two.

i think its because that way to many people played druid in the beta perhaps? they also got numbers on the name/character reservation i guess? i looked over the talent trees this morning and it looks like blizzard removed Berserk from feral talent tree aswell, so no more burst damage or fear immunity :open_mouth:

sure many ppl play druid , you know why? bcs there is tank melee dps range dps and healer

0.5 gcd doesnt belong in this version of wow

I can see the removal of 0.5sec GCD even if I disagree, the class is based around applying lots of HoTs that trickle healing… So the lower GCD just helped get em out, it only applied to Rejuv and Wild Growth right? So not exactly game breaking.

The change to Wild Growth tho, is just next level. Makes no sense to me at all. Isn’t the whole point of it being instant is because the heal is spread over 7 seconds and not all up front?

Why would you ever have a 2.5 second cast to heal 336 over 7 seconds.

When you can have like a shaman, instant riptide to heal tank by 500+ small HoT and then next chain heal is also 2.5sec cast but does 50% increased effectiveness doing crazy healing in FULL…

Not even close right?

I feel like its a good change and brings him more in line with other healers. having it be instant was out of place, thee druid identity is the healing over time. Thaat didnt change. <3

I’m baffled at how much time they spend on this stuff when the healer gameplay loop is just shaping up to be classic, druid has 1 heal and that’s healing touch

How does it bring it in line with other healers? It’s not even comparable to them, they all have better utility, now they have better aoe healing as well. Priest has PoM, PoH and Pws. At the moment no healer can compare to this throughput, it’s all direct healing too so a lot more valuable. They all have better buffs as well, all Druid utility is better covered by feral which also brings raid wide party crit…

They did the same thing with priests, removing all skill expression with sw:death in PvP. with the utterly bizarrre increase of the backlash damage to 30% of your HP. It’s utterly useless in raids as well now, unless you’re sure it will kill the target, otherwise you might die. And in PvP, it now does much more damage to yourself than the enemy, so you can’t use it anyone more break incoming cc, literally a hallmark of what seperates a good priest from a bad one.

It is pretty wild. But I think it will grow on you.

Tranq innervate rebirth.. Those are always useful the more you have. <3 great aoe healing. even better than priest. Saves the raid , plus combat res.

This comment makes me think you’ve never played classic, tranq is only group wide and less effective than direct heals. Combat ress, motw, innervate and BR is covered by the other Druid specs on top of giving crit. In classic hots are not as valuable as direct heals. And their aoe healing will not be better than priests that have a smart heal, group wide direct heal and can blanket the raid in absorbs the most valuable form of mitigation.

What I felt was great about Wild Growth is that it allowed Druids to have a “aoe heal” that came online fast, but was still a hot, it was still “druidlike”. It felt like it could be a druid version of Circle of Healing (a baseline priest ability btw).

But how is it going to function now? I start casting Wild Growth, and halfway through the cast the group have already been topped off by Chain Heal and Circle of Healing? Is the only use for it in dungeon content where I have no “competitors” for quick heals?

hot healing is already working at a “delay” compared to most other heals. Having a 3s cast time on a spell that already has it’s healing spread out over several seconds just seems to make it very hard to use, and very prone to overhealing.

Resto needed (desperately) a buff from vanilla, other than being an “Innervate Battery”. Now I fear Priests will spam Circle of Healing and shout for Druids to give THEM the Innervate because, after all, they are the healers, we are the battery.

HoT healing can be preventative and in place just as the mobs damage the tank / party, its not designed to wait until they are at 50%, HoTs also have much less overheal issues compared with many priest spells. Priests for example are better managing spike damage and recovery using shields. All the healers have different healing strengths.

Imo Priests should be the defacto best healers in this game (i accept that this isnt always going to be a popular opinion)

With shadow losing the warlock shadow buff they only really have small aoe heal for party with vamp embrace and a spirit buff (mana battery) They are likely a B class damage dealer for Raids. Probably only included in a healing group to boost the spirit of the group using Dark Inspiration.

Priests only have 1 realistic role and thats healer. Paladins can effectively tank (A not S) and are generally considered a better tank healer than priests and secondary damage dealer. Druids can be decent off tank, healer and secondry dps, Shaman also be a healer, dps (tank possibly ?)

I may be wrong but this is the way i see it.

So you think priest should have the best active mitigation , best aoe healing, best direct healing, one of the best raid buffs, on top of having another 2 raid buffs. Magic dispel, it sounds to me like you’re biased. This is already the way it was in vanilla classic, and why resto Druid was treated as a a meme spec…

There’s a massive difference between being best overall healing and being the best at all of the variations. I also said all healers have strengths and weaknesses , you forgot to mention that.

Generally speaking the following is generally true currently, do you disagree ?

Paladin are considered the best tank healer and most efficient with their mana (they can also tank in raids) i.e. have 2 key roles. They also have so many buffs.

Druid is generally considered the best at sustained healing with probably the best HoTs for groups, can also off tank

Shaman has probably the best group support and very strong heals such as chain heal, totems and strong burst healing can also join dps groups for support.

Priest currently seems to be a general versatile healer with shields, very strong direct healing (not as good as paladin for tanks) some Aoe Healing (not better than druid or shaman). Has only 1 role which is healing and maybe bring along a shadow priest for a healing group as a mana battery only.

Since Priest only have 1 realistic raid position which is to heal is it a real issue if they should in general be the top healer ?

In Forever we have rogues being the best single target dps, Warriors SHOULD be the best tanks etc

Also i did say i may be wrong, i am not stating that This MUST be the way. I am just having a conversation.

I have read online with various theory crafting about raid groups and the general consensus seems to be only 1 priest is needed for their raid buffs but you will need multiple paladins, druids and shamans. Can you get by with different combos, yes certainly but that seems to be the thinking .

But that is not how it plays ut, forever is supposed to shake up the meta. Besides off-specs what you’re describing is vanilla wow. Druid does not have any strengths, that other healers can’t cover. On top of having no special raid utility, everything is covered better by the other specs.

As it is now there is no point in brining a resto Druid for 10 or 20 man compared to the other healers, they all bring better utility (buffs, dispels, dmg increases) if resto Druid was left as is, before the datamined changes the other healers would still bring better utility.

The devs themselves stated in the wow forever podcast, that Druid is supposed to have the biggest healing. To make up for their lack of raid utility, these datamined changes undermines that.

Our aoe heal is a worse prayer of healing, while being a capstone talent at the bottom of the tree instead of being baseline.

The gcd changes makes the spec less fluent, brings down the number of rejuvs we can blanket and makes the entire rotation slower.

Swiftmend is double nerfed (we need to apply a an increased gcd heal to use it), instead of being able to save people it is not only for the tanks.

All of our healing will get sniped by smart heals (chain heal, prayer of mending) before they’re even allowed to tick. Don’t get me started on the replacement talent for gift of the earthmother, this talent is completely useless in PvE group content beside 5-man dungeons. Resto Druids will never get a healing spot in serious guilds, it is now a meme spec again.

I will admit that i am coming back to WOW after years away so am trying to read and study as much as a can for understand the new “meta” or way that blizzard are trying to make it work (or not!!)

If Druid is supposed to have the biggest healing, do they mean group wide total, best single target healing ? I have no issues with druids having some of the best if not THE best group healing through HoTs.

Hers my issue with Priests (i may be a little Bias, i can accept that arguement but i am trying to understand what are everyone supposedly roles are / should be.

Paladin

Currently Paladin are likely to be S tier healer (best single target tank) with some of the best group buffs and they are also going to be A tier (maybe S?) for tanking and also part of some melee groups for dps (say B tier)

Paladins are challenging both warriors and Priests for their key roles and groups will need multiple of them.

Priest

Priests are not actually best at any specific type of healing (Paladin for single target, Druids for group and Shaman for aoe and support. Yes they have some utility and some raid buffs and their main strength is shields that other healers dont have.

Druid

In my view, Druids should not be S tier for single target healing (A tier in my view) because their main strength is Hots and sustained group healing where they should be S tier. They should be better at this than Priests even though they also have some AOE healing. should druids be able to MT heal above Paladin and priest? i would say no BUT they should be capable of it and their tool set is such that they can also be an off tank (A or B) and also dps (B). If Druid is still broken (based on what your saying - ill take your word for it) then i hope blizzard fixes them properly to allow Druids to be effective healers. Priests can only heal.

Shaman

Shamans have the best group support via chain heal and totems (S) and they have strong burst healing, they generally bring more utility to groups compared with druids or priests alongside good healing. Raids will need multiple shamans for both healing and melee groups for all the buffs (just like paladins)

Currently Paladins are likely to be no 1 tank healers, multiple paladins, druids and shamans are going to be needed for each 5 man groups for buffs to melee or aoe healing but only 1 priest for raid buffs is needed and some utility. You could maybe get a shadowpriest into a healing group for B tier dps but mainly for the mana battery effect.

Priests main strength maybe that they are the best GENERAL healer with A tier abilities for many type of healing (but not S) but when healing is the only real raid spot you have you need to be S tier, thats why i mentioned Rogues being THE best single target dps and Warriors being the best tanks. Priests cant do anything else but heal

Overall i understand that blizzard have not yet properly fixed druids to be effective healers AND tanks and decent dps,

But if Druid is to be the best healer what’s the point of priests if only for a few raid buffs ?? The current theory crafting already seems to show only 1 priest being needed for the buffs but multiple other types of healers as their utilti yand buffs are either not raid wide OR are better.

Atm the it looks like priest will have the best aoe healer by far, while technically being the strongest tank healer Beacuse of PWS and strong efficient single target heals. With PoM they also have smart aoe healing, and prayer of healing is the best direct group heal in the game. They said Druid should have the highest throughput, imo that means the highest hps. Which they will not have, paladin has gotten really good group healing, that is also direct while shaman is still king of utility(paladin is close second, with their mandatory blessings). A big change in forever is that a lot of buffs are raid wide, that means resto does not bring anything to the table that another healer or Druid spec can cover.

Thanks for the reply, like i said, i am returning to WOW after many years away, originally played from Vanilla Beta and i am still reviewing thoughts from various theory crafters (which may or may not be correct - just want to get as many opinions and thoughts that i can). I still think Priest should be the best single target healer and you seem to think that will be the case.

If true it raised another question, what is a Paladins role in a raid if they are not best single target healer or AOE healer, are they mainly challenging warrior for main tank or are they there mainly for buffs ? I would hope that every class does have a FUN key role in raids but with constant changes of the classes up to just days before launch i am not sure that blizzard themselves have a good idea of what all the classes will be doing and the lack of clear communication is a worrying sign

If classes dont have a viable WORKING role for raids it will leave alot of unhappy players, such as druids currently
