Prefer a gamepad? Get to know another way to play World of Warcraft: Forever, from moving and casting spells to adjusting your settings. Gamepad support is available in a beta state, with more improvements to come.
like retail with obr? =)
Definitely not. But thanks for asking.
Tried it in the beta and I liked it.
But I wouldn’t mind more control (
) when it came to edit mode and binding of keys.
I’d like to be able to resize and reposition each button group as well as rebind all button functions like target, attack and swap bars.
Otherwise 10/10
Playing WoW as a Melee with a controller works great using Action Targeting… Ranged, not so much.
I think it would slow me down looking at the pad thinking what to press and then looking at the screen - I guess after 20+ years with keyboard and mouse I’m used to that method, don’t think I have a further 20+ years adapting to the gamepad ![]()
I enjoyed playing with my controller during beta but i eventually switched back to keyboard and mouse. The gamepad controls lack a way to communicate properly and i was constantly switching back and forth with my keyboard. adding a wheel with some /s options for instance would be very welcome imo.
Theres also consoleport named addon for retail created in 2015 that looks like this, which is also being updated for Forever aswell. I watched one guy play holy paladin on 3000 rating for r1 with it some years back ![]()
Needless to say its not easy, but he made it look fun. It’s good blizz is also releasing their own support for Forever.
ConsolePort has a bit of a learning curve in just setting it up, using it playing WoW on my Steam Deck/Machine. Heard WoW’s official one is more streamlined if somewhat lacking atm.
I havent used neither but I would imagine it has more customization with options yeah. Like with all addons really. Why I still use auras and nameplates from addons instead the default updated ones because I can customize so much more.
I am not against support for the Gamepad, but I am against changing the game to accommodate it or even enable “handicaps” while using it like with aiming for FPS.
