when i go to chat settings, channel tab i see the custom channels i did join yesterday all greyed out while active, doing /leave or /join does nothing
this includes “world” “global” and “lfg”.
and in cant talk on them either.
i have also a custom chat tab but cant enable those channels. they are not greyed out like main tab is, but are disabled and cant click on the box to enable.
EDIT: gemini fixed it for me - did all steps of:
Method 1: Delete Local Chat Settings Files
-
Completely exit World of Warcraft. The game saves chat data upon exit; modifying files while the client is running will cause WoW to overwrite your changes with the corrupted memory state.
-
Open your World of Warcraft installation folder and navigate to your character directory:
...\World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF\Account\<YOUR_ACCOUNT>\<Your-Realm>\<Your-Character>\(Replace_retail_with_classic_or your specific version folder). -
Delete the following files:
-
chat-cache.txt -
chat-cache.old
-
-
Clear account-wide chat cache (if character deletion does not fix it): Go up two folders to
...\WTF\Account\<YOUR_ACCOUNT>\and deletechat-cache.txt/chat-cache.oldthere as well. -
Relaunch the game.Verification: Open Chat Settings; default tabs and channels will return to their default active state, and custom channel slots will be cleared out.
