You MUST select “French” in Options → System → Languages and Social → Preferred Online Language!
(Your settings for “Language: Text/Audio” don’t matter.)
If you set it to english instead you’ll only see 1/4 of the players maybe.
Also be aware that you can only click the “apply” button once every 24 hours if you change this setting, lol.
why french? it’s not bugged?
It’s a bug from Blizzard, that the “french” layer internally is the “Main layer”. We players cannot see it. But it will work.
There is no real reason, it’s just buggy. Maybe it was the first layer added in the internal program’s sorting order or sth.

Everyone will be there so ppl speak english, I just grouped with ppl and everyone just writes english, because “french” is standard setting in the client. It’s not really a layer for french players.

This works.
English speaking layer (not saying there are no other languages used but English is there) , many people around and more importantly, the General channel is called General, not “something 45” forgot what it was yesterday, but didn’t look normal.
It is not.
Contrary to what has been said, the “French layers” are intended for French-speaking players.
If the English layers seem empty, it is because most English-speaking players have their default language setting set to “French.”
And if English is being spoken on the French layers, it is simply because you are all foolishly congregating there.
Therefore, the solution to the problem is certainly not for them to move to the French layers; rather, it is for ALL English-speaking players to change their settings back to English.

Yeah this made not a bit of difference for me on the rp-pvp ruleset, Orgrimmar is empty regardless of changing it.
I just don’t understand why Blizzard can’t change the setting back to how it was. Do they not have logs of people’s settings? Like 98% of players don’t read these forums and keep playing in the french layer despite not speaking french…
This is a big mistake from Blizzard because this will heavily split people into the wrong layers because most people will just not realize it is put to french by default because why would you think that. And the others go to the ‘right’ layer and its just a fraction of players. Good job Blizz
Friends of mine who are italian and german both checked their client and it was set to “french” by default without them doing anything. Their PCs run english OS.
So yes, French is the default layer setting.
English layers are full atm, dunno what you’re talking about.
