[A-RP] <Greyhawk Paratroopers> 🪂 Glidin' and chutin'

The Alliance needs it’s heroes to protect their world! From the undead rising near our homes, to cultists causing havoc and our old enemies coming ever closer to our borders. Chaos never rests, Azeroth needs it’s heroes from above.

Paratroopers, where the enemy may build the highest walls, we will be the ones to answer the call to arms and fly over them. From the 7th Legion, we belong to it’s 7th Airborne. Veterans of war, young and old, willing to fight for all of the Grand Alliance, are to be enrolled into the 7th Airborne and soar for their homes.

Who We Are

The Greyhawk Paratroopers, IC known as the Greyhawk Platoon or simply the Greyhawks, is a military airborne unit within the 7th Legion’s sub-army of the 7th Airborne. We are those that reinforce the front, bravely go behind enemy lines and take the ground as we land from above. Our goal is to be the reinforcements in battle, when the Grand Alliance calls we will answer and fly through with our strength.

The Greyhawk Platoon is part of the C lashwing Company, which was originally part of an Auxiliary unit from the Stormwind Army. As such when the company have kept their blue and grey colours while being inducted into the 7th Airborne’s 2nd Battalion. In the Clashwing Company, paratrooper is recognized by a single wing on their patch, instead of two wings. This was to emphasise that teamwork is paramount in our military, and no paratrooper shall stand or descend on their own. Currently the C. Company is commanded by Captain Embergear, as the Greyhawk Platoon is led by First-Lieutenant George Graywater.

Military Branches

Military Roles are seperated in four distinct branches that collectively make up the units within the 7th Airborne’s 2nd Battalion, starting from a section and going higher up. Each of them have their roles to act out within operations, and together serve as the victorious pieces for a successful mission. The four branches within the Division are:

  • The Vanguard, those confronting the enemy face-to-face. With formidable protection, they are ready to take and deal the most damage to the enemy while holding the line.
  • The Dragoons, mobile soldiers capable to attack the enemy from close by and from range. Ready to reinforce the other three branches at a moment’s notice.
  • The Pathfinders, quick and tireles soldiers to search and track. Capable to flank the enemy or find our where they are hiding. Without them, the unit goes blindly into battle.
  • The Warcasters, using spells and abilities they conduct researches and scrying operations off the field, aid in mending tasks or serve on the field as a destructive force.

These make up the squads within the Platoon, those who will be the Platoon Leader’s main force to use in the operations. Alongside the squads, additional teams offer support to the paratroopers. For example the Transport Team, who’s responsibility is to bring the paratroopers close to their destination for dropping to the field of operation.

Recruitment into Retraining

As is customary for the Regiment, only those with some form of combat experience may apply for recruitment. Young and old veterans apply, those within and those outside of the 7th Legion, as long as they are loyal to the Alliance. On certain occassions, mercenaries or even penal soldiers will be allowed to join the ranks.

The G Platoon is commanded by First Lieutenant George Graywater, co-commanded by Staff Sergeant Mauro Dawncastle. The First Assault Squad is where all of our current members will be placed. The Assault Squad is a fully hybrid subunit where all four of the branches are filled in by the paratroopers.

Lt. Graywater is the one to form a training program, where each candidate would follow courses and classes on infantry and airborne training. The areas within Dun Morogh would serve as their field of training, where our prospects shall be earning their wings. Parachute and glider jumps are paramount for each paratrooper, if they fail their aerial training they will not be able to become paratroopers for the Greyhawks.

Completing their training will earn the prospect their wing insignia, recognizable as a paratrooper of the Greyhawks. No matter if they’re a Lieutenant or a Private in rank, every paratrooper is regarded as a key member of the Platoon and will be a deciding factor in victory or defeat for every operation.

Join the 7th Airborne, where individuals are brought together to stand as one.
Become Paratroopers, where ordinary soldiers are turned into the extraordinary.

The Paratroopers have landed in Boralus! Joining up with the Grey Shields and the Alliance Safety Service, they’ll be on an operation in Drustvar. Seems that remnants of the twisted Coven have risen in the eastern half of the region, events full of twists and witchery we’ll hosting for eachother. :handshake:

Hopefully we’ll be home by Winter’s Veil…

Saving the folk of Fallhaven, our cooperative operation in Drustvar was a success! Right afterwards we made it to Kharanos to celebrate the Feast of Winter’s Veil hosted by the Gears’n’Beers Community. A welcome and wholesome aftermath after a weeklong of grim and dark events.

The paratroopers are off duty until further notice, as Staff Sergeant Dawncastle remains spending his time at the platoon’s HQ in Ironforge. Perhaps few others do join him as well, as others do return to home and spend their Feast of Winter’s Veil with their loved ones.

We still have plenty of room for recruits so if you are interested be sure hit me up in-game or through Discord in a private message. (Hoaloha Khan#0018, seen on our AA page)

The following flyer can be found all over Ironforge, as well as given around the different bunkers and towns around Dun Morogh, Loch Modan and the Wetlands.

The walls hold back the sturdiest of foes, but no wall will hold back the sky! With gliders in our grasp, no battering ram will be needed to enter the enemy strongholds!

The 7th Airborne shall conduct a basic Glider Training Course for all combative volunteers to join us on the upcoming dates of the 30th and the 7th. The Training shall be led by Cpl. Osgar Ironhands, gathering at the Gates of Ironforge half-past the Eighth Bell.

With the holidays coming to an end (if only if they could last forever), the Greyhawks are returning to roleplay soon! We’ll be hosting a short basic glider-jump course in Dun Morogh come the 30th and the 7th respectively, both events to be semi-active and welcome to all military-like volunteers, whether officially enlisted units or mercenary bodies, all trained individuals will be welcome to this course!

With the public Glider-Training Courses coming to an end, the Greyhawks are preparing for a deployment within the Dwarven region of the Wetlands, reports coming in of Scourge sightings, close to the region borders and Menethil Harbour. But also two reports of Dragonmaw raids on supply escorts and unaware scouts, both found dead as referenced in the reports.

Hopefully we raids are done by just a small group of Dragonmaw Orcs, else we may need to call to arms for reinforcements. :eyes:

(FYI We are actively looking for more people to join the guild! Be sure to whisper any of our members in-game or DM Dawncastle on Discord at Hoaloha Khan#0018)

With his mortar set up, Tark Tinkeeper finally thought he could be the one in action. Finally, the technician would be the one to deliver the final push to victory and make sure he would be a hero. Alas he met his fate by the everburning fires from above, a son of the mountain perishing by the hands of a Dragonmaw orc and it’s enslaved dragon.

As Irosa send her elemental companion towards the Thandol Span, a loud and powerful explosion would echo from the left tower. Leaving a bunch of rubble, as the air spirit would sacrifice it’s life for it’s shamanistic “mother” and her companions. The rest of the Span would be cleared from the Dragonmaw Orcs, at the cost of one loyal companion of a mourning paratrooper.

The days have not been kind to the Greyhawk Platoon, our deployment to the Wetlands in aiding the local mountaineers against a warband of Dragonmaw Orcs has been a costing one so far. With our shaman’s companion gone and our field technician burned and buried, the paratroopers prepare their next steps with care. Perhaps the aid of a nearby ally, a wildcard group of fighters ready to hammer some damage into those greyskin orcs. Will we achieve victory? Suppose we’ll have to see for ourselves…

The Wetlands were caught in conflict as Gofkez and his Dragonmaw warband infiltrated and settled in Dun Algaz, but with the aid of both the Greyhawk Paratroopers and Clan Stormheart, the warleader is no more and the warband has been defeated! By the skin of our teeth, victory was assured as the Platoon heads home to Ironforge to rest and recover.

We’ll be focusing on recruiting and IC training for the time being, as we slowly build up to a campaign with other guilds for the next month. If you’re looking to join us be sure to give us a whisper in-game or send me a message through Discord. (You can find it in the first post of this thread!)

Lastly, we’ll be doing public basic glider events again! Dates will be shared soon :eye: :kite:

I think I speak on behalf of my folks in saying we had a blast fighting some filthy Dragonmaw with you all! And what a great bunch to RP with!

Cheers to Dawncastle for the invite, let’s do it again sometime :beers::eagle:

The paratroopers have had their training practices, with the honour of attending Clan Stormheart’s ceremony for the late Thane Grahda. But all good things come to an end, as the Greyhawks will soon go on a deployment to Kalimdor. Both with their Wildhammer allies in Clan Stormheart and their Paladin allies in the Grey Shields, as the Greyhawks soon will move to Boralus to lead a Quick Response Force. More allies have answered the call, but who will they be facing? Will they even succeed in their mission? Or, will the aircraft make it’s last flight and bring the fallen paratroopers home…?

Time will tell, at the end of the month, we will know if they had succeeded or failed.

(Recruitment has been delayed for March, if you would like to join your characters will be recruited to join the Greyhawks next month!)

And so the Quick Response Force succeeded, through a harsh and chaotic expedition, in taking down the enemy leaders. Remnants of the Twilight Cult, Grimtotem, Razormane and the Black Dragon Outcasts that accompanied them.

As last week we finished on a great campaign! I’d like to publically thank the following guilds for attending:

  • The Grey Shields
  • The Ironheart
  • Clan Stormheart
  • The Nightfall Brigade
  • Beyond the Veil
  • The Aldorey Family
  • And the Greyhawk Paratroopers of course!

As well as the awesome individuals, Atterbury, Ulfarns, Travis, Jesse, Atticus, Samuel Hill, “Goodnight”, Morgana and Gwyddhiene. (If I forgot anyone feel free to hit me for being so forgetful) But those that I cannot thank enough are the DMs that have helped me in making this campaign a reality:

Atticus, Astesie, Crawder, Samuel, Elynsia and Ardes. It was great working with these six champions and I couldn’t be more thankful for the amount of help they were willing to put in. If not for them I probably would’ve worked myself into a monthlong burnout.

Thank you, see you on Azeroth!

New Prospects have joined the Greyhawk Paratroopers, as we’ll be using this month mostly to go through training courses, field practices and bonding with one another. The First Platoon Leader role is now in the hands of Second Lieutenant Mauro Dawncastle, but behind every good leader stands a great team.

Recruitment is still open but limited, we’re currently looking for leather- and cloth-user classes. Rogues, Monks, Druids, Mages, Priests! If you got what it takes to be Airbourne and want to be part of this military but merry band of brothers and sisters, the Greyhawk is the place for you! Whisper any of our members in-game, or reach out to me on Discord: Hoaloha Khan#0018.
Do check our recruitment page on the AA! https://www.argentarchives.org/node/248360

As always, feel free to stop by our doorstep inside Ironforge. The Paratroopers regularly go to Bruuk’s Corner for happy hour, so you’ll be able to find us there as well!
