Wow! this sounds right up my street!
Me; I am an ex-vanilla > wotlk player who recently returned to classic. i quit because it was no fun not being 60 (long story!) once the HK system arrived. I have a wife, 2 kids and a job so my play time is limited (3-4hours per night) but i am a dedicated and loyal team player with lofty ambitions 
I sadly quit a very nice classic guild and community that shared my goals and accommodated my needs perfectly 
With the wow bug still in me, i am currently playing wrath on a private server and having lots of fun. That said, the community feeling is not there and people on private servers are always looking for the next FRESH. I find it hard to invest in something that could disappear in a patch or two.
So, I have taken a look at retail and i am considering jumping in. I am tempted by shadowlands as i believe Blizzard are trying to go back to their roots ( a bitā¦) and draw in new/old players.
The trouble is, i donāt want to begin with an empty experience. I like the single server feel where everyone gets to know each other and a reputation sticks, good or bad. I fear retail being an empty world of elitists and i find the new systems (artifacts weapons/essences?!/keys/mythic+ etc etc utterly overwhelming if iām honestā¦
But i am keen to learn, and my immediate goals are to settle on a class and role that i enjoy and can invest my time and effort into. If you can accommodate me and help me learn, i would gladly join your team!
For now i will focus on trying 2 or 3 classes (druid being 1 and DH because i have never tried them) ) before maxing one in time for shadowlands. At this point i will be focussed on progression and would love to be a part of your raiding team.

Hey! Thanks for the reply Enyas. Yes I definitely intend to raid, either during shadowlands or at some point during 8.3 (depending on my progress). Initially, iād like to focus on settling on a main and getting my head around all the new systems and dungeons though. My raid experience is mainly as healer (priest and resto shaman) but i know the playstyles of each have changed a lot since wrathā¦ Iāll contact you with my other account (bigmantings!) for a chat
