Advice for Rookie Roleplayer

I downloaded TRP3 before I even made a character on AD. Looking at other people’s profiles is a lot of fun. I’m still not very familiar with getting all the relevant information at a quick glance before they move but still, really great addon.

I’d kind of agree, kind of, and there is no reason for characters to start sounding like a Tarantino film knock-off, but…but…

Blizzard set the bar. We do have the ‘B’ word rhyming with dastard, we do have Garrosh’s infamous rebuke to Sylvanas (Which actually is a lot more offensive, given that it is an explicitly male character using it to silence/shut down a female one. I must admit, that one surprised me. ) There is speculation that Odyn drops the ‘F’ bomb if the player keeps clicking on him, but I don’t think that is true. We do however have Orcs in Silverpine saying they have , emm, Wet themselves, but using a line rhyming with ‘missed’ Which, well, its a definitely post 9.p.m word, after the Watershed (The time after which British terrestrial tv channels are allowed to feature profanity for non Brits.

We then have, even more astonishingly, and I have absolutely zero idea how this quest text got passed, a Wildhammer Dwarf in Twilight Highlands, who refers to the Alliance as a bunch of …ermm, People who self pleasure, you know the word, rhymes with ‘tanks’.

None of this is saying, of course, that our characters should start sounding like the love-child of Danny Dyer and Samuel L Jackson, but swearing is definitely a -thing- in that sense, in Azeroth.

Anyway, I digress.

Don’t use the letters v and z to try and enunciate your Draenic accent.

One tip I have been doing for a long time is to say out loud what you are typing in /s. You look a bit stupid doing it, but it’s a fantastic way to make sure what you’re typing out makes sense and conveys an accent (if your character has one) without having to overdo it.

Yes, pretty much every time Tellingworth says something there is a milennial behind the screen saying it out loud in a West Country accent.

I love it.

Many great things happened because someone did something stupid at first behind the scenes to see if it’d work. c:

Mate. It gets even worse after I LARP for a weekend.

It once took me three full days to get out of the strong Cumbrian accent I was using for a character.
