AI dungeons

Nah.
This feature will not be for Dungeoneering (which M+ is pretty much the only game in town although Timewalking would also count).
This feature will be used to see the story and get the lay of the land. Maybe someone trying a new class / role for the first time.
Very few players doing challenging dungeon content will swap to this system. Mostly players who don’t do dungeon content at all will be using this system.

LFR didn’t kill Mythic Raiding. Pretty much nobody who did high end raiding gave that up in favour of LFR.

Maybe we’ll find out how wolves hunt.

People still do dungeons in groups of real players in FF14.

I unfortunately did not play FF for more than 2 hours so don’t know much about it. I’m assuming there are dungeon quests like most MMOs so the people who use AI would have ultimately had to have queued if AI wasn’t an option?

I kinda get your point about seeing the story but the levelling process is a complete mess lore wise, you barely get to finish an expansion before your thrust into dragonflight. At which point you’d have to go back to see the rest of the story and it’s soloable by that point so you wouldn’t even need an AI group. As for learning a class, regular dungeons are a tank and spank, its doesn’t really need to be made anymore accessible than it already is.

The thing is that Final Fantasy 14 is an MMO, but it is also a Final Fantasy game. The audience of this franchise expects to be able to play the story from start to finish, like in any single-player Final Fantasy. In fact, some parts of the FF audience believe it’s a betrayal to have the main games of the series as MMO instead of single-player.

AI dungeons serve that purpose in FF14. They also have, unlike WOW, a Main Quest Campaign that makes you play the story of every expansion in chronological order from start to finish, including dungeons when it fits the story, and even was required to complete it to reach the endgame (but in recent years they have the option to skip it, paying, I think).

I would love a Main Quest Campaign in WOW with all the story in order including dungeons and raids with AI to avoid the complete mess of the lore but I doubt that is the intention with this.

Easy fix. Give a relevant daily reward for running them.
FFXIV has this system already, but there is a daily bonus to run them and queues pop just fine.
Also, it’s faster with people. The NPC’s do less damage.
But, it’s a great feature to have if you want to relax and still farm some gear pieces, or test a new spec, or learn the mechanics without bothering others.

We definitely at that stage. One thing it will help with is new players getting to actually experience a dungeon without the rush, rush one shot and VtK system putting them off. However I believe the AI versions should just be for old dungeons that nobody does anymore. If memory serves me correct not every dungeon in FF is AI enabled. Newer dungeons still require you to queue for groups, but I have not played it for a long time so it may have changed.

Not at all. New dungeons come out with duty support from day 1 these days. Which is what they call the AI system.

While I think it’s nice to have AI dungeons for those that have a high likelihood for the tank to leave as soon as they enter, I’d like Blizzard to improve their queued dungeon system:

  • Increase the end dungeon bonus based on the amount of bosses killed. I’ve been arguing for this for at least 2 years now. Give players an incentive to do bosses that aren’t the last one instead of just skipping them all.
  • Make all old dungeons available at level 10. The higher the level of a dungeon in Chromie time is the harder it is to get a queue for it. Level 25 WotLK dungeons may as well not exist in the finder.
  • Rework the queue so people who waited a long time for it to pop don’t lose priority to the tank/healer when a DPS declines. Also having all DPS ready isn’t necessary, if 4 people are ready and 1 DPS isn’t just put them in the dungeon and if the 5th one declines just find another DPS.

I’m currently stuck on the Valdrakken campaign and the Tyr story as I’ve not done Halls of Infusion. So this is not a legacy content issue.
I also haven’t completed the Centaur Sojourner as that need Nokud Offensive but this isn’t an issue in so far as I’m not blocked on continuing a storyline central to the entire expansion.

Even normal dungeons are treated like M+ now.
If you have friends to play with then a normal or heroic dungeon is perfectly fine to learn a new role.
But random strangers will start pulling if you’re not fast enough or vote kick you if you don’t heal enough.

This feature is not removing the current social aspect of the game. Do regular dungeons if you want. They’re still there and if you have friends to do them with great do those.
Thsi feature is for those who don’t have friends currently playing and don’t want to step into the toxic mess that is random match-making pug groups.

Don’t give any xp until the last boss is killed, give more for optional bosses and for clearing all trash.

I approve it also, since I have experienced first-hand how even leveling dungeons have become quite vile frequently (I might be unlucky, but saying /hello and being met by “You aren’t using heirlooms /kick” is not fun.)

So, AI dungeons; Please. :dracthyr_love_animated:
(For when my friends and bf can’t play!)

As Blizzard always had the hardest time with balance, I expect this thing to be either so progression-efficient that players would, for the most part, not take the risk playing with other people, or just “not rewarding enough to ever be worth doing

Guess we’ll see ¯_(ツ)_/¯

That’s not really the point of AI dungeons. The point is to be able to do a dungeon without other players forcing their playstyle on you. One could take their time and read the quest text, or do bosses that nobody ever wants to do. You know, actually have fun while running the dungeon. I know that concept is foreign to most players nowadays.

I agree with you.

I’m just anticipating what would people cry about.

There an active thread right now complaining about “”““useless content for solo players that is drawing developpment efforts from content aimed at “”””“”“”““real””“”“”“”“”“”" players"“”".

I hope I’d put enough quotes.

I should be nicer I’m sorry.

I hope everyone will get what they’re looking for in the game.

People always cry about something. PvPers cry they are forced to PvE, M+ players cry they are forced to raid, casuals cry they are forced to do M+, raiders cry they are forced to do the campaign, etc.

If the AI dungeons thing is real it’ll be a big hit with a lot of people. So many people are still playing that no longer have the friends they did and for whatever reasons dont want to pug. Couples who are happy to just play together can now do dungeons and not miss out on storylines, parents who dont want their kids subjected to some of the more toxic player base can happily let their kids do instances without them getting whispers or kicked because they didnt know something. Good idea in my opinion.
