It’s not. The game is balanced around M+ and PvP tuning is the side effect of forum whining.
Basically they don’t make the balance changes in the middle of AWC because they want to avoid situation from Legion when qualifiers were played on 7.0.6 and then 7.1 was released. Blizzard didn’t know what to do and finished Blizzcon on 7.0.6.
I don’t believe AWC is the problem. The problem is M+ oriented game design.
The issue with hero talents is that they are shared between specs and when it’s op on 1 and balanced on other it affects the other. It’s like this forever. Whenever something is shared there is very small chance Blizzard will ever get it properly tuned.
Clicks consists of the same people exiting n reopening the stream rather than keeping it open. It typically peaks at around 20.000 viewers which is nothing for a world championship. The event definately does not generate 100k USD thats for sure.
Point is that its not even close to being profitable, it doesnt attract new players either n all it does is being a hinderance doing more harm than good for the health of the game.
90% of the people opening the stream just wants to see whatever is op so they can reroll that crap rather than watching the gameplay. I refuse to believe someone is so far gone they actually have fun n enjoy watching the same 4 classes in an endless stream doing the same crap every single game on repeat.
thats true and im with u that alot of the VOD clicks consist of that. but the clicks also grow after the stream.
if u consider all the numbers: twitch, youtube, watchpartys of streamers, people watching not live; then the overall number aint that small for a gamemode that is kinda dead. like EU only has 20k toons above 1.8k in shuffle rn of which some are also alts.
but ye i cant see it being profitable as well considering the total pricemoney that gets handed out. there must be a reason to keep it around tho otherwise blizzard surely wouldve canceled it already.
The entire PvP playerbase is rapidly shrinking due to the game feeling like crap n balancing takes ages, AWC stops active balancing, takes 100k USD to hand out to some cuck who needs to get a real damn job where as instead 100k could´ve been a yearly wage for a full time PvP exclusive dev who actually looks at feedback n works towards adressing issues n concerns instead of giving it to some useless weeb.
I´ve no idea why they keep AWC around, its clearly not profitable in any way, its not profitable in terms of marketing, its not profitable in terms of viewership so its overall just an expense that goes nowhere. My guess is that blizz holds out delusional hope that WoW will suddenly become an Esport with millions of viewers n epic arenas like LoL tournaments.
That 100k should be reinvested into the damn game to actually make the game enjoyable for the people paying for it. One full time PvP dev isnt too much to ask for a monthly subscription game, granted they should´ve gone F2P years ago.
i hate it, but i lowkey agree, awc would be great, if the game was great.
like league, league of legend is “great” even tho past his prime, and tournaments are interesting to watch
wow (tho i always hated arena) is just not there. too many design issues, the game for the most part, in pvp is mosre frustrating than fun very much often… and w/e u watch arena tounrmanets the fights don’t look anything like your pvp experience… its unrelatable
Its not just unrelatable its straight up uninteresting. In league you watch players do crap that you can understand, n yet struggle to perform. In WoW even the pro´s needs a third party program to tell them wtf is going on.
Its not “cinematic” its just messy. There is no hype around seeing the same people playing the same comps running circles slamming buttons endlessly. WoW has no skillshots or mechanically cool things to watch. Its just a number crunch.
You know why its op?
In case other casters cant keep alive vs any player on warrior who uses his face to click on EXECUTE ZUG ZUG, mage is single who can keep alive vs this op class, if blizzard just nerf op warriors who struggle only to mages all other classes will be able to play AWC
I feel like there is actually a lot of stuff. Like evokers root catching a rogue out of stealth etc.
Grounding a important cc. And lots more
The problem is , there is too much and every class has to many tools to handle the big cds. So there is no hype for a perfect kidney , until the match dragged long enough for all cds to be used up.
In lol you have a tresh hook through a wall being hype because he can’t do 3 other versions of the hook afterwards.
Like, I maim a mage, he blinks 2 times and didn’t even care about it. What’s the hype between classes just ignoring plays ?
Edit: thinking about it, they could also include a UI that better shows which cds are currently being traded. Like opponents shadowblades next to pally wings and next to it the other teams bark skin and pain sub
WoW “skillshots” arent really skillshots at all. Its like calling DnD a skillshot, or the random totems i sprinkle around on my shaman hoping to catch a rogue who just instantly resets afterwards. Evokers spends 98% of their lifespan spamming one ability which is a beam that can be channeled while moving.
Theres no risk n reward involved in these skillshots, not really. In league you have long cooldown flashes etc in wow its a 3 secound cooldown with 16 charges.
WoW PvP is the equalant of watching URF garen fighting URF annie. n yet somehow im convinced URF championship would´ve been far more entertaining still.
Yes URF is glorious, i quit real league years ago somewhere around season 6 or 7 but still return once in a while to play URF with freinds. The only reason its not a permanent thing is because people play it till their eyes bleed n then take breaks from league as a whole so theres a noticable, although be it temporarely dropoff in players after URF.
