Answering Blizzards Blog Post as a "New" player

It’s kind of funny cos the game is WAY more helpful to new players now than it ever was when I started in TBC.

All MMOs are too complex and take a while to get to grips with. There is no way of changing that. It is a case of learn as you go.

Tl;dr zoomer brain can’t handle a minor amount of effort and just want to zoom zoom gg go next

This is a really good idea, Exile’s reach was at least entertaining.

A long time ago, someone posted that after exile’s reach, you should be dropped off in the new expansion and a regularly updated cinematic play that shows what happened and where we are now, I feel both ideas could be combined to make a fun new player experience.

For alts, and second characters, there should be a choice between this new route, or levelling from 1 to 70 in any preferred expansion, the same as now. Perhaps add the option to start at level 70 if you are making an alt in a class you have already reached max level with.

I’m not sure this is true, sure in TBC there were no obvious tutorials, however “learning through failure” is how people learned.

I think telling Blizzard how to redesign a game, that millions of people enjoy the way it already was is a fairly Elitist and toxic activity.

Well the difference between toxic change cryer and legitimate critic is in the first case you demand something to be changed because you do not like it.
In the second case you can rationale point out why something is not good and a problem and what need to be done in changeing to solve it.
Here in example of getting old and rare mount rewards.
Saying that the way old and rare mounts like Al’Ars Ashes, Invincible and Loverocket drop should change because you do not like to farm forever is just demanding to cater to your demands.
Saying that just continue to rely on drop chance is unfair and player unfriendly because some player are really lucky and get it on the first try while other players are really unlucky and farm for a decade and still not get it. So instead just like with the legendaries in DF they should change it to that with each unsuccesful farm you get a token based on the drop chance so that for a 1% Mount you are guarenteed that even unlucky you only need 100 Runs at max.

While they shouldn’t be like 100% drop, some people have been farming both mounts for over 10 years, there has to be a point where you’ve earned it.

Yeah this is why I say that for every unsucessfull kill you should get a token based on Drop chance so that for example Al’ar with a chance of 2% would need at max 50 kills which would merely take a year and not having some extreme bad luck like here:

Super Mario Odyssey, which was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2017, has a gap where you die if you do not jump over it in the very first stage.

Ironically, Super Mario Wonder released in 2023 doesn’t. I think it’s the very first Super Mario game to not have a gap in the first stage.

I don’t think I have ever seen a particularly rational criticism of the game on these forums which we not based on personal perspective and completely ignoring the fact that there a millions of people who like it the way it was.

I think the only people qualified to be holding rational discussions on the future of the game is Blizzard, who have access to all the metrics which go along with it.

Yes, they are making some bad decisions for the game at the moment, and are completely neglecting their long term player base. I think at the moment, they’re responding to a fad for a quick cash grab. But I’m sure they have a long term plan to make the game good again.

At the moment, I have no plans to buy Midnight. TWW wasn’t a good expansion, and I have no interest in player housing. They gotta pull something really big out of the bag to get me to change my Gold into WoW Tokens this year.

We will just have to agree to disagree then.

I was trying to think how long I been playing this game, about 17 years I think. At the beginning I found it very complex and kept the little book that came with the disc close bye. I think there are many more “hints” as to what to do now. And for the person who said the “kill 10 beavers” type quest was boring, it was designed so that you could get meat and skins to build up the money you need as a new player, not alt.

Second job? Lol hahaha
