Archaeology

id assume Archelogy will be moving away from the " dig and survey " options

and more into an actual profession

wouldn’t surprise me that we have to go to certain dungeons to uncover relics which can then be used to spend on recipes to make gear

a dungeon profession if you will

I’ve never really done anything with this aspect of the game. Any time I looked at anything related to it I got the sense that a tremendous grind was looming over it.
It’s been on my “one day I’ll give it a go” list for a very long time, I’m not sure that day will ever come.

A few things might help.
Make it Account Wide like Pet Battles.
Reduce the RNG (as you say).
Have some fun questlines.
Not sure what the rewards are but not seen too many as an outsider so perhaps there aren’t many good ones?

What got me into Pet Battles was reading about the Falcosaur pets and mounts. It seemed like a good distraction with some ok rewards some pets, toys and mounts.
Whenever I’ve seen anything Archeo related it seemed really grindy, expensive and frustratingly rng.
The Vial of the Sands is the main example, I quite liked it (a friend has one) so I read up a bit. Massive RNG to get the recipe. Massive grind to farm the mats, a fair chunk of gold on top of that (although 50k isn’t what it once was still a chunk of gold). This just didn’t pull me into the feature.

I use arch up to 225 and the pet tamer circuit EK + K only to level chars to 61. Gets super easy after level 35. As ever with me I only use professions and pets to level my character. So the arch has no real value. I got all the rare stuff years ago and the rest is vendor trash. There use to be a dragon statue that sold for 200G but they got wise and nerfed the reward. So for me I truly do hope they leave things well alone.

One useful item would be a flight path to Wetlands for the Horde. Oh and for goodness sake stop putting digs in Tanaris. I think they got bored in K and just kept loading stuff into Tan. Arch must have been a real treasure to some designer… OK lets put this dig this end of Lakeside and the other right at the other end and then repeat. Be mindful of that spider in Redridge, think its scaled wrong.

And can we have the digs in Wetland on the Span actually visible above the ground so we can grab them. And there are some buried in SwampofS by the Murloc chums which need lifting. There is so many items in this game that have been moved out of place by changes and never put back. Signs above ground, stuff in walls etc. So funny.

PS As with professions always stay below the 300 threshold if you plan on levelling in EK+K. So for arch only accept up to 225 max. Accepting Cata just mucks every profession up if you plan levelling only in EK=K [old kingdoms] and I know Cata is in those zones but that is even more reason not to go over 300 skill level. ie stay Classic[C-update] for professions and arch. As ever avoid Chromie like the plague. Always!

I gave up on the vial recipe, it was the only recipe I needed for many expansions.

The garrison was the perfect way to display them. If blizzard did add permanment housing this could be one of the uses.

The garrison had many good features I think Blizzard just dint want to continue. They brought the mission board back time and time again and that was surely more unpopular than the garrison!

It could be anything really. We could have scenarios where you have to… I don’t know. It doesn’t have to be bound by profession rules. It’s a profession in name only.

I like that idea but it would need to be a solo scenario, go go go doesn’t work with discovery.

I loved all of these ideas, museum that everyone can see would be amazing. idk if you know where archaeology trainer is in Stormwind, it looks like a library; can make something like that. Scenarios would be cool too, do X to unlock Y Scenarios instead of just farm till you find pristines.

I’m not sure how they can implement this one, it will be more like a scenario anyway; something like Battle-pet dungeons.

Ironforge has an actual archaeology museum.

The Pandaria achievements were so awful that I don’t think I finished them until last expansion or maybe BFA but either way they were awful.

Definitely don’t want the see that again .

The quickest and easiest to get that recipe is to do the Mop/Draenor or legion Archeology. Collect the crates then exchange them for as many of those Uldum pieces as you can possibly get. Just keep wasting time on those and you will get it in no time.

I did that, still dint get it. :frowning:
