This thread showing unironically why FF’s community is held in high regard and WoWs is known as scum.
Your self control is aspiring
Said by the person that “don’t care” while lading 26 replies on this topic alone.
May she rest in peace and watch over him and may they be reunited. As if i ever lost anyone close to me i’d probelly never be myself again until i’d be reunited with them again.
Where did I say I don’t care? I said to post it somewhere he’ll actually read your condolences.
It’s a tragedy. You’ll never be the same again if it happens.
Commenting negatively doesn’t mean on the whole someone is a bad person.
Maybe to raise awareness so people might pass on a comment offering condolences? Some might not know about it. I don’t think there’s much harm in that.
“I think acting/pretending to care about someone that you’ve never met is pure evil.”
I’d say offering sympathies is is being civil, and possibly helping just a tiny tiny bit at almost no expense (all the comments by fans might make them feel a little bit better). I would say acting to truly care about someone completely unknown to one is a falsehood, and at worst self-serving, but I’m not really sure it’s ‘pure evil’. It isn’t stating they’re more important than others is it?
If I learnt of anyone losing a relative recently, I think I’d say “My condolences” just out of civility. I wouldn’t start crying or asking if I could attend the funeral.
You make a point, but you just take it too far…
Why should there be positive comments to someone who has been a large part of creating toxicity in the game?
Asmongold is directly responsible of a whole lot of bad that is still going on in the game.
It is sad to hear about the mother but losing your mother is something that will happen life moves on.
He is also US so very doubtful he would even read these forums.
Would you but care to elaborate on this? How has one person manged to have such power? I’m interested (genuinely) how you can come to think this. Call me a gather of social information regarding Internet behaviour and thought processes behind them.
Acting like streamers don’t have inherent power of their minions/subs/followers. You claim to be a forum mod of another forum and you don’t know stuff like this. It’s 2021
Never said he didn’t have power, he was blamed “whole lot of bad going on in game”
I am interesting in the thought processes behind these conclusions and how people come to think like this.
The forum I mod doesn’t have any issues with streamers it is in a whole different sphere.
Big streamers these days is the #1 way for advertising gaming companies these days. They have a huge amount of power and sway

How has one person manged to have such power?
Being very good at entertaining some people and time making a group of followers around them that is fanboys who spread the word like a pyramid scheme.
This very topic is telling of this.

he was blamed “whole lot of bad going on in game”
This is not something that is easy to show you because it is literal YEARS of content you need to learn about to understand this.

I am interesting in the thought processes behind these conclusions and how people come to think like this.
Having seen him evolve and the fanbase around the person from when he started to stream.
To give you an idea i was there when Twitch was called JustinTV

As was I my friend. And xfire even before that.
To you concede that Asmongold gold and his like have also done some good for gaming communities or is it all negative in your eyes?
I’ve always seen WoW’s community as a bit Wild West, riff raff-ish perhaps, as Wellington might call “The Scum of the Earth.”
It has its good and bad points. My guess is FF’s community has never been like that.
Honestly I’d take WoW’s over a ‘nice’ community (read Bertrand Russell’s concept of nice people), despite all the problems.

You make a point, but you just take it too far…
Yep. I admit. Sometimes it’s best to just not say anything. One comment led to another yada yada. I do respect what you said though. I was just confused as to why someone would make threads supporting Asmongold and his loss on a platform he’ll probably never read, and I was met with hostility, so I met it back x2. This thread just came across to me as “Look at me guys, I’m caring for other people, RIP”
It still seems odd to me. You have far more chance of him seeing it on his twitter.
I tend to find his followers FAR worse than him.

I tend to find his followers FAR worse than him.
There is a subsection, but I feel he gets judged for his actions (and those that follow him) from several years ago.
He is not the same person he was 5 or so years ago when he first started streaming (he was mid 20s then, now early 30s we all change in that time, he was making YT vids in his teens most that he cannot show now due to ‘gamer’ language).
Yet people still post videos of 2016 etc. (It is an inherent problem of living your life on camera I suppose). I am opened minded enough not to damn him for things he did 5+ years ago (even if I don’t often agree with his views) .

To you concede that Asmongold gold and his like
Do you think i am talking about streamers?
I am talking about him specifically and the fanbase he has promoted and spawned.

have also done some good for gaming communities or is it all negative in your eyes?
Some good sure but mostly bad.
But even some people who has done very bad things do some good.
There are a whole group of streamers that have done a lot of good that are far less known then him.
Including relationship manager of WoW Lore aka josh Allen.
But for you What is the good things asmongold has done for the game according to you?

His YT guides were some of the best made for a long time (pre-streaming time) .
He has a long standing belief of women’s rights and vigorously slaps down anyone who gets out of line on stream regarding this. This includes YT vids he is ‘reacting to’ and female guests. Maybe if Blizzard behaved like him they wouldn’t be in the mess they are now.
When streaming WoW is regularly had it at the top of twitch (if not first) that is good for all of us that play.
Look, as some one who owns every store mount I have faced the ‘spits’ he promoted I never said I agreed with him I was interested if you have any positive views about him.
I’m not championing Asmongold, I was genuinely interested into why you have those thoughts. Thank you for explaining.
