They played against meta. Meta was all about winning lanes and snowballing and OG preferred to play for late game. Topson for example didn’t play any meta hero at least in TI8. In TI9 he was playing meta way more.
Well, nowdays people want fast things.
“How to get honor fast, how to level up faster, how to clear torghast faster, how to climb faster”. So invested in trying to do everything fast when the point of the game is to get better through trying but enjoy it aswell.
This toxic mentality derives from our generation, down to the gaming community that has become pure elitism driven. People achieving a specific rating like 3-4 expansions ago are infallible and definately pro players in the current meta, having ahead of the curve is definately an indication of skill and let’s not forget that you can only join +2 keys if you have the specific meta spec and have 1,2k raider io.
Achievements, in any form, are a huge ego boosting mechanism that tends to make certain people a toxic bomb, even though old accomplishments do not guarantee that the person is truly skilled in today’s game or meta.
Yea, that’s wow in 2020.
I said stop admitting you’re playing prot in arenas AND you’re actually having fun.
idc if your fun is about stomping people with the free rating spec you play mate, but no1 will take you seriously once you say “i play prot”.
Playing a warlock has made me so salty towards anything that just keeps chasing you for 100% of the time in arena. I don’t get frustrated at the never-achieved 1750 player running at me, it’s more so the class and design.
I’m well aware, but being able to do that still requires you to have a very good understanding of what the meta looks like, how it works, why it works and how to take advantage of it, or you’re just going to lose, because the meta is meta for a reason.
When rated PvP wasn’t toxic? This type of the game full of kids, people with mental health problems and retard persons.
I’m calling the community out on being toxic and I also want to know what goes on in the heads of people like this.
In every competition people get emotional and upset - it’s normal. Watch football - people who like each other trashtalk themselves. Nothing new.
how is prot worse than any other op specc?
I hope this is a bad joke and you’re not comparing someone making fun of you for playing paladin to the torment people face through homophobia and racism.
All in all, dry your eyes bubble boi. /spit
I am. What are you going to do about it?
It is very comparable. The consequences and real-world implciations are of course different, but the reasoning behind the attack is the same, aka attacking a person because they belong to an X group.
Whispering an opponent after an arena match to kill themselves, would you call that “making fun of someone”?
Firstly, weird attitude. If you wanna be a little cry baby then that’s your prerogative. I’m fully able to think your response is pathetic without having to need to “do anything about it.”
It really isn’t comparable, you made the choice to play a certain class. Someone who is tormented because of their skin colour or sexual orientation made no choice and a victim of real world persecution is nothing even close to comparable to someone emoting you after an arena win. Get real.
Oh absolutely not, that’s a horrible thing for someone to say. Yet you’ve added this now in an attempt to sensationalise your post. You mentioned emotes in your original post, that’s why I’m laughing at you here, sorry if that was unclear from the /spit. You also talk about sportsmanship, not bullying people with whispers like that, so again another change to your narrative.
Now go on, bubble hearth out of here bubble boi.
How do they even know your sexual orientation from playing against you? Or are you one of these people who have to announce that he is a minority so everyone knows how special you are.
Right back at you with the weird attitude.
i made the choice to play the class 15 years ago and stuck with it. What you are saying is that should reroll to something weaker whenwer the class becomes strong just so I don’t have to deal with bad manners as often? You are the one who should get real, as you are making the issue black and white. And I already told you I am not comparing the consequences of the attack, but the motivation behind it.
Sensationalizing my post? It mentioned toxic whispers in the very beginning. Of course I get like 100 times less irritated by emotes than toxic whispers, but it is unsportsmanlike nonetheless.
You seem to think I am doing this for attention or trolling. But what I am doing is appealing to Blizzard to reduce toxicity in the community. Here, just so you see I am not making crap up, one of the whispers I received:
And what’s wrong about such whisp? Someone is frustrated because he lost and you should respond with “Lmao - get on my level hoe” or something to make him even more tilted.
You are making drama because sweaty neckbeard for whom WoW is his whole life called you badly. If I had only problems like this.
“No u” - k
Nope, you shouldn’t. However you should grow some backbone.
Unfortunately toxicity is part of every single pvp game out there. As someone already pointed out, we can see you sat on your moral high horse and this thread is utterly pointless. People get mad in games, there’s your answer.
You added whispers about someone telling you to kill yourself, that’s the sensationalising part. You were very non specific from the get go, I imagine so you could once again appear morally superior at a later point like now.
You are.
There’s that moral high horse again. Get a grip, don’t respond to them and move on. You aren’t changing the millions of toxic players in every pvp game out there.
Edit: only thing I got from that imgur link is a laugh at how wrong he was about Ret being worse after prepatch ended. If you think those whispers are bad then you should see the whispers I received farming my own faction for talons vengeance. Not once did any of it bother me or did I feel the need to make a thread about it. Toxic kids are part of every pvp game.
Nah, I only added the specifics because you were trivializing the issue.
You seem to think those whispers are getting to me, but I actually have quite thick skin. This post is more or less accumulated frustration of not playing in a friendly environment, and nothing much is being done about it from Blizzard’s side.
Call this a moral high-horse if you want, but my arena partner and I were facing a disc-rogue team, won after a 5 minute-long game and talked on voice about how well they were playing. A few games after that, we meet them again, I get globalled because we miscommunicated on using defensives in the opener, which is followed by a spit shower and the aforementioned toxic whisper.
It is just not very nice to play in such an environment, but of course, as you say, it is not THAT big of a deal either. Does not mean it should not be talked about.
Because your gripe is a trivial issue.
Why else would you make this post? I can clearly see you’ve played the game for a long time, toxicity in pvp is not limited to wow nor is it a new concept. Your justification behind “I wanna see what those who are toxic think” as if you’re going to get an actual conversation going with someone who, as you put it, tells people to kill themselves, is silly.
You’re right, but your position was what I had a problem with as you can see from my first post.
Your comparison that this issue of class bashing is similar to racism and homophobia completely destroyed any discussion you wanted to have.
True. But to be fair, I did learn one thing from this thread after all. I did not realise so much of the hatred stemmed from people playing a certain spec or class… don’t know why people don’t take more of a “don’t hate the player, hate the game” approach.
Well I still think it’s similar but okay, I see this is something we just won’t be able to agree on, so let’s agree to disagree.
It’s the pvp forums, everyone class bashes here bubble boi. It’s usually in response to “nerf x class” threads but it’s more meme’y than anything.
