In my personal opinion, being “woke” at the beginning of everything, had the right path, until it was taken over by those with serious mental health issues.
But as normal with today’s society, it will be replaced with something else, which will again become infused with the mentally ill individual.
Language is ever-evolving, and words’ meanings change. If people use “woke” almost exclusively to refer to meaningless tokenism and pandering to (supposedly or actually) “oppressed groups”, then that’s what it means.
Several other words have changed meaning completely. “Gay” used to mean happy / cheerful, but nobody uses its original meaning anymore.
The “r-word” which I’m not sure Blizzard allows on this forum, but the one that refers to being mentally impaired literally just meant “delayed”, i.e. someone’s mental development had slowed down.
Nope, it have always been a buzzword used by people who just woke up and acknowledged that injustice is happening, but still too asleep to recognise their own wrongdoings.
