Best lore race for hunters?

Dark Irons - Dark Iron hunters can be seen with their DI core hounds in Shadowforge and they’re badass.

Mag’har - I mean, they are pretty much designed to be Hunters. Look at Beastlord Darmac

Blood Elf - Dark Rangers

I am super biased obviously but I will argue Vulpera is a really good fit for hunter.

You are a scavenger and born and raised in a desert with scarce supply of water and food.
All Vulpera have to hunt and scavenge for their food in the dunes. With a keen ear and a strong sense of smell they can track and hunt down prey for survival.

Are those beasts or Elementals?

I would like Shaman to have more Elementals and be able to tame them a bit like Hunters can with beasts. A discussion for another day.

I would love that. I was thinking this the other day about the Shaman and having more options for our temporary companions. I also would like permanent fire elemental, but some people hate that idea.

Good point. Technically, they’re hunter pets for game reasons but they are actually elementals.

I would rank them like this:

  1. Orcs
  2. Trolls
  3. Dwarfs
  4. blood elves

You are discriminating goblins and dwarfs.

Goblins work better as engineers and rogues really.

Again depends which lore. .

Tauren , their whole society is based on the hunt , their legends is about the hunt. In classic you’re last quest to prove you’re a brave and allowed to leave Mulgore is a hunt quest.

being a good with a bow isn’t everything that makes a good hunter. Survival in the wilderness and connections to most animals is also important.

I would say…Worgen.

Worgen are natural hunters, quite literally. The curse sharpens ones senses and gives inhuman strength and as creatures of the wild Worgen als have it easier connecting with other creatures of the wild.

Lets take Elves as they are in Tolkiens work

Elves very often live in forest, and their influence could be seen most clearly there. In ancient days they spoke to the trees (as they always desire to talk to other things) to the point where the trees gain some level of sentience and understanding and some even grow to be able to walk and talk and do things no ordinary trees can.

This, however, is not limited to wood and trees. The Teleri that dwell on the coast have close tie to the sea and sea birds, and their songs are filled with the sound of waves upon the shores, as the waves bear echoes of the voices of their mighty singers. Swan and sea birds often draw their ships and other vessels, which in turn are fashioned in such likeness of birds that they could be mistaken for one.

So again depending on which lore…

In WoW Night Eives once were the only option for druids, thus connecting them to nature.

So in both lores, Elves both have a deeply connection with nature aswell as their natural ability to shoot with a bow…

So again it all depends on how you view it.

It sounds like you already made up your mind so I don’t know why you asked /shrug

The traditional ranger class like blood and night elves are are not that tied in to the natural world. You need specialized classes for that. In case of Kaldorei society it would be druids for that. Most archers in the night elf army however are sentinels however so basically warriors with a bow.

I know that Dwarfs have a rich history with Hunter role in Warcraft universe.
We literally played Dwarf riflemen in Warcraft 3. There is a very famous Dwarf Hunter since Classic WoW.

I just personally cannot view Dwarfs as a good Hunters.
They’re small people, making them slow, with short duration on run, a lot of muscles and fat, again, which takes a lot of their stamina.
Dwarfs are stubborn, they sure are explorers, i cannot deny them that.
But they also lacks natural qualities like Night Elves, Worgens or Vulperas will have. Which are smells, good hearing, sight and quietness. These are imo essential to a good Hunter.

Dwarfs are natural Warriors. Strong, fearless, great blacksmiths and miners. To me Dwarf with a heavy plate armor, big heavy shield and a mace, just suits him more.
