Bilgewater Cannon and the Alliance consequences

You can scratch Gnomeregan from that list, as its still irradiated and unliveable, otherwise you have to include Undercity as Horde capital to, since the Forsaken still hold Tirisfal Glades. And you can add the Echo Isle's as it serves as the Darkspears capital in lore.

I think the city is semi reclaimed, though I don't know how occupied it is. Didn't they add some pet battle thing there recently?

Well, you flee it at at the start if you make a Gnome Character... you literally have to fight your way out and in Mekkatorque's shortstory "Cut Short" Thermaplugg irradiates it again! So I suppose it is still very much a battlefield?

Ofcourse that cam change depending on the lore added with the Pet Battle Dungeon!

Also I doubt they'll use the Bilgewater Cannon on Ironforge, Gnomeregan or Shadowforge as that would mean that thing would have to blow away the whole mountain, which I dont think it could...

So only Stormwind and Borulas are really in danger....?
90% at the Vindicaar so everyone can get a justification for why we don't see it anymore in the Alliance war effort.

60% at the Kul tiran fleet so the Alliance lose it as well

30% at Ironforge because that cannon would be the only way to damage it as a fortified city in the mountain

10% at Stormwind since it's originally aimed there??? (I think, but it won't completely destroy it anyway, probably only the harbor or the castle of Anduin)

1% at Stromgarde (when it's Alliance controlled) in order to give a justification for the Horde to get revenge on the Alliance if they lore-wise win the Arathi warfront.

Also when it fires there could be negative repercussion on Bilgewater Harbor or even Orgrimmar.

That said, Mana Bombs are still way better that than that cannon, way more dangerous and efficient!!!
This is a really interesting question, thanks OP. This really made me think.

And yes, I am ashamed of the W
war Crimea my Alliance character committed. Especially when I was defending Darkshore, even though Blizzard themselves stated that Kalimdor belonged to the Horde. I was basically trespassing.

I think that wherever the cannon shoots at, I'll be there. I hope it's Dalaran, so maybe Jaina is there and she can pay for her heinous crimes against the Sunreavers. Otherwise, maybe The Exodar because I really don't like the male Draenei models.

But we'll see. At least I hope the Alliance will pay for their crimes.

Well that's a given ;P but it's very probably she will not be around there anymore and also Dalaran is for all purposes neutral so they wouldn't pick it as a choice...it doesn't make sense.

The Exodar

Actually even Exodar would be a possibility (if Goblins can fully turn around the cannon tho) if Silvermoon is becoming a Warfront and Blizzard really want to go for separation of the continents in Horde-Alliance factions. Still less likely than the Vindicaar or the Kul Tiran fleet though.

The re-irradiation was at the "Operation Gnomeregan" event, just before cataclysm. The short story played after that, and Mekkatorque was at his old lab in Gnomeregan, so the irradiation can't have been that bad...

That said, the only part of the city that was actually reclaimed is the surface.... and New Tinkertown isn't more of a city than Goldshire.

Edit:
By the way, I listened again... and really, Afrasiabi could just as well be joking around with the cannon. First he says that Gallywix will get more of a personality after they let him plaster the whole of Azshara full of skyscrapers, then after the followup question "If we're getting Azshara though, what's happening with the cannon?" he again jokes around that he asks that question every day and that it's foolish to have a cannon and not use it, so they'll fire that cannon. I can't get much of a read on that guy here.
Considering how OP Jaina is, firing the canon at her would just make her angry.
IF vindicar is going to be destroyed i hope it will fall right on orgrimar
Since the cannon is clearly so awesome that it can shoot over an ocean that takes weeks if not months to sail, I believe it will be used to shoot around the globe of Azeroth around the other side to Darkshore, where Nathanos uses 15% of his powers to blow up the projectile by shooting it with an arrow, causing it to splinter and kill every night elf in the zone with a precise headshot since it is just so fricking good.

I will RP my character as dying there, being rezzed by a val'kyr and becoming a Sylvanas groupie who personally murders every Ally panda.

Sounds like something Blizzard would or could pull off!

Well certain abilities and weapons even in game have an "unlimited" range.

So why not that cannon?

Also if it's loaded directly with Azerite, it could actually destroy a whole city... or maybe even a sub-continent...

My personal hope is that they shoot the vindicaar which makes it crash into Dalaran which destabilises it and makes them both crash into Stormwind, destroying Varian's memorial and reverting the area to the Cataclysm-era destroyed model. Not redone, but identically back to Cata-era.

my cabbages!

Only "unlimited range" abilities I can think off are those Lightforged Drop Pods... But thats about it?

Unless you mean portals, which are no where as usefull as a unlimited range Bilgewater Cannon.
If the kaja addicts succesfully get that eye sore to work and fire in the process damaging/destroying a city/zone then the Alliance should be allowed to use the Gnomish Orbital Laser or the Vindicaar or Jaina or Mal'furion or Velen to vaporise/destroy/damage/bring the fear of God into a Horde zone or 2.

Tit for tat and all that,u can use your WMD's,we can use our WMD's,everyone uses their WMD's :) :P

Well no - the Alliance are not allowed to retaliate in kind because the narrative team are using Anduin to make a point about toxic masculinity. Instead what will happen is Anduin will lead an army to Azshara and bring the perpetrators - and only the perpetrators - to justice using the power of goodness and aflying boat ex machina. He will do this without harming a single innocent, and we'll all learn that wars can be won in a just and fair way if we all use our words and rationality and flying magic boats.

The Alliance are but they are never satified with the retaliate as they didn't make every Horde race exctinct and drop 20 tsar bombs on every single outpost the Horde has and had.

Personally I'd settle for felling a Horde city that they didn't give up and turn into a trap beforehand, but your way is fine too.

We won't get it though because Anduin needs to win the war clean.

Well if it's like the mana bomb of Theramore...it's not going to happen. Actually Jaina was going to drown Orgrimmar in retaliation but she was stopped...Blizzard doesn't really see the Alliance as capable of using WMDs for multiple reasons...they have to remain good at all costs and win clean even if it costs them huge losses and cities. At least in this way the Horde keep coming off as badass :p

That's so accurate, it makes me sick :(
The shells it fires have a caliber of about 3-5 meters. By comparison, the largest caliber artillery ever used on Earth was 0,8 m (the largest mortar was a little under 1 m): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schwerer_Gustav. Upscaling from that shell (7,1 tons), places the shell at around 500-600 tons or 8-10 times a modern main battle tank.

Let's assume it hurls this shell with a muzzle velocity of 2700 m/s (for those intercontinental shots) which gives it an energy requirement of about 2,2 trillion joules or half a kiloton (500 tons of TNT). Putting the power drain at 275 gigawatts. That's about 1% of the entire world's energy consumption. It would take the Hoover Dam about 2,2 minutes to generate that much energy.

No chemical explosive could provide the instantaneous force needed to propel a projectile that large without blowing up the gun itself. Also the velocity attained by the shell is higher than the practical detonation wave speed of any chemical explosive currently known.

The recoil of the gun would be tremendous. The instantaneous energy expenditure is roughly the energy of a 4,0 earthquake. Firing a weapon of that size, constantly pounding that much energy into the ground would quickly shatter the ground underneath. Thus you would need a massive underground dampening system to dissipate the energy to a much larger volume.
