Because of the high ilvl requirement of LFR (for being allowed to queue) you are already doing M+ for quite a long time though
I am not agreeing often with the OP, but on this 100%.

Good.
While I do not really see much use of LFR other than getting transmog there is 0 reason for one to take tier pieces they do not need. If their goal is to gather the set for transmog they can do it over time with the Catalyst, and all they need to do for it is to run some low level M+ to get a gear they can exchange into a tier piece.
That said even before the loot changes I felt that LFR drops are too low itemlevel, and they are needlessly hard for a low chance at gaining anything from it(it is not the mechanics that make it difficult, but rather the people you are matched with).
If you do a few round of m0s, and farm materials during Primal invasions there is no reason not to hit ilvl 359. The base ilvl of primal invasion gear is 359, and you can get everything beside necklaces, trinkets and rings.
You can even upgrade a piece of gear (beside weapon, chest, leggings and helm) to 385 every week.
Weekly events give you scaling gear, up to atleast 372, along with rares as well.
There is no need to step into M+ at all to get the gear for LFR.
Not necessarily. You can queue up for LFR once you have a reasonable amount of Heroic Dungeon Gear. The progression is Normal > Heroic > LFR ⊠onwards. Thats not nececssarily the route every player takes, but thatâs the way itâs designed.
The whole idea of LFR was originally to make Raiding more accessible to people who donât want to commit to Scheduled raiding, so they can see the storyline as a minimum.
If anything, they should be just simply reduce the gear requirements for LFR and make the bosses more of a Tank and Spank experience.
But those items still fill gaps. And since this is an alt, I wouldnât be farming M+ anywhere near as much as I do on my Main. In fact LFR would probably be the only raiding experience that Alt gets (I detest raiding on my Main, and rarely go higher than normal).
This is a great change. Nothing against Transmog collectors. They just shouldnât take priority over someone elses progression.
I mean; you ding below 300. You do a couple of worldquests for 340, buy some other 340âs on the AH for nothing, and you go M0 with about 325. Then you got a key already. I did not make a study about all the hours of work to get to 359, but it seems like a big time investment over going M+ at 330.
I agree 359 is silly high to enter lfr.
That may be true.
Your post merely implied that people are forced to do M+ before raids because the itemlevel for LFR is too high.
I personally think that 359 isnât high for it, seeing as how many sources of decent quality gear we have access to.
And I did not even count in the Spark gear you can get for yourself.
Well, i have absolutely no clue how to go from the 340 gear that is buyable on the AH and obtainbale from WQâs to 359 without doing already M0 â M+. So you just jump to instant 370 and higher gear. Making LFR nonsense.
Primarily with sparks, and doing one of each primal invasion for the quest item (that is an easy 385 piece of gear for a lower prio gearslot, or a 385 two-handed weapon if you wait two weeks).
Without any infusion you can get 4 pieces of gear for yourself up to a minimum of 382 ilvl, up to 395 ilvl depending on what quality. You do need materials for it, but most of the materials you need can be bought for a relatively affordable price from the AH (and these gear pieces you can continue to re-craft for higher itemlevel if you start doing 10+ keys or heroic raids).
I am honestly surprised if you can get into m+ with such a low ilvl.
I have no idea what you mean with sparks or infusion.
We jumped in week 1 in M0 after dinging and doing a couple of WQâs which gave a couple of 340 items. M0 has the same difficulty as M+2. Up till now i havent even done any heroic dungeon since it also is somewhere in the black hole of ilvls between WQâs and M0.
So last week, my Paladin Tank dinged 70 and I crafted all 343 gear (and bought a few bits from AH), as you suggest.
I then ran 4 keys for the weekly all the way up to +7. and won Zero loot. I killed a couple of rares and a few WQs and Primal Storms and I am now 359 (still wearing 1 bit of SL Season 4 gear).
So being able to join LFR at this stage would be quite nice. I have a chance at gear, and more importantly a set piece, and itâs a nice change from running M+ over and over.
Ah, doing it with pre-mades. Fair enough.
My point was that the 359 ilvl sounds easily achieve-able, if one really wants to do LFR. It should not be a major obstacle for alts.
As for sparks, this link can explain it much better:
I am not against that of course I just have myself big trouble getting to 359. And when i run +7 keys the last thing i am interested in is LFR.
thatâs the wonderful thing about having a variety of different gearing options in the game.
The reality is, I probably wonât be running LFR on my Tank⊠well at least as a Tank. But I also donât want to be spending all my time doing just M+ as well.
Fantastic change makes it much fairer.
Yeah i have seen that. But i do not see any item (what ilvl) i can create with it, and it seems it is 1 item per 2 weeks. Now that is not how long i am going to wait to play my alt. I leveled my paladin over christmas holiday, did up to +8 in week 1. Opened yesterday a +13 vault. I am just not seeing how to get to 359 in less than a lot of weeks with only WQâs and a lot of events. We do not even get daily new WQâs⊠Like why should i hold myself that long when we can just go M+ on 330. The 340 items from the events and WQâs are not even high enough for entering LFR
But if you use logic there has only been 3 up to this week.
382 baseline, and it goes up by 3 itemlevels per rank the crafter who finishes your work order crafts it by.
So far we have access to 4 sparks (you can go and do all 4 on your alts even now) which is enough for either 4 different armor piece, or for 2 armor piece and a two-handed weapon.
Also keep in mind you are talking from a pre-made perspective. Those who have to resort to pugging will rarely if ever get invited into M+ at ilvl 330 or 340, simply because we have access to easy (if time consuming) sources of gear available to us.
Even if we talk of someone who leveled an alt before this week that is still three pieces of 382/395 gear they can get their hands on, on top of the other sources I listed previously.
Most casual people in my guild (minus those who did not play at all during the first week) got to 370 by simply doing world content and a full round of M0s, and that was before primal invasions were available, and with a single spark available up to that point.
I still stand by my point: 359 should not be hard to obtain at all, and it gets easier with every passing week.
I highlighted sparks because it is the easiest source of relatively high itemlevel gear before instanced content, for clarity.
I would far rather go back to PL and just remove the trade restrictions.
Stop punishing the playerbase for a minority practice of class stacking.
I dont like this change. Now people with good gear dont have any motivation to run LFR. This will result in more stress for healers and longer queues

I just did it with half guild half failtrain. We got communities for a reason. We also had another 345 ret pala in a +6 first week key. I am not sure why people would not join any of the thousands communities, to be honest.
I just completely felt myself in a black hole of lost ilvls when i dinged. The sparks now is a good suggestion, i suppose But in my case all wqâs gave 340, the hunt and other weekly events scale also with ilvl. The rares i killed gave tops 345 ilvl. All completely useless if i wanted to go to LFR. I had no other option than starting M0. At least, i felt like it. Maybe others know other grinding options to get higher ilvl, but i did not see them.
