Blizzard's marketing strategy is gonna kill the game

It creates hype and the tactic is similar to re-marketing. That’s when you have an old customer and you want to bring them back. Or when they are interested but they leave the product aside for a while and then you’re trying to bring them back to it.

Would this be the same death it suffered when we could kill the ultimate baddy, the lich king? The death that happened when “pandas” became playable? Maybe the death the game suffered with flying in classic content or AHs in more than one city? It’s exciting just how many times this game can die according to the doomsayers

I’m quite proud to be in the 1% that played since launch then.

Back then they had 10 million subs, now they don’t even let the players see the sub count since its ridiculously low.

News Flash: sub counts were never for players.

With additional services subs are not a good way to show investors how well it’s doing.

You dont know your numbers or facts well do you .
WoW peaked with 12.5 million subs with WOTLK.
Acti/Blizzard are same company.
Far more then 1% still play from Vanilla no idea were you get your figures from but your wrong.
Your whole post is lacking any knowledge at all.

You should link a source to prove your point though. That’s what people usually do when it comes to statistics or even marketing strategies.

You can have an opinion sure, but what I understood with your post was assumptions of things you think are facts.
But who am I, right? I permitted myself you give you an advise. Take it or leave it, your choice.

That post isn’t really about marketing strategy but I think it related with some decisions they’ve made, it’s my opinion, I could be wrong.

In my opinion almost every game or franchise lives from fans. They are willing to buy expensive goodies or additional stuff because they (loyal customers) believe what they’re buying is good.
I think is a good marketing strategy to keep those ‘followers’ invested.

Here is something for you:

You wount get one as she is talking from her own view she didnt even know blizz/acti same company :woman_facepalming:

Its not just the games its everything.

Companies are in for a fast buck nowadays 15-20 years ago still you could have a job that owners wanted to succeed and wanted to be known from the quality of the product but nowadays everything is just about the fast money and big company owners/shareholders only care if their wallet is fat nobody wants to invest long term anymore.

WoW most likely earns more money now than it did back in wotlk but hey, you do you.

Yeah they do it by burning their fanbase with abusive prices. The next expansion will be a flop because people got super hyped for bfa and bfa was a disappointment.

Ive played since Vanilla and i actually like BFA even with some faults still ranks higher than cata and wod .
Also love how you endlessly ignore peoples questions of you and your inane posts.

For me, I played since TBC and I didn’t find Cata that bad. I dare say, the Heroics Dungeons were “heroic.”

I remember the first time I went into Heroic Deadmines (I watched Aliena’s Guide, since she was a Holy Priest) and I have to say, I wanted a challenge from dungeons and by god, I got my challenge. I had to use heals correctly or face oom and wipe. It was lucky as I had just discovered mouse over macros at that time and again, it was challenging.

I was just so sad that so many dungeons revamped. If old deadmines had a herioc version now that would be fun and my main cata was a female dreani holy priest :kissing_heart:

Sorry I wrote a different reply to start with to you, then changed my mind and did a general one. I should have hit the other reply button sorry :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeap , but considering all angles they do a lot of money with a simple recipe .
From my point of view as a player i’m just curious what magic trick they will pull out of the hat to keep going .
I can foresee china to be they’re next cash cow they will milk them with the same recipe for around 10 years then they will move to africa .

I must admit, I did miss the old deadmines, but, back then, I was aiming to try and play the game to a slightly higher level than what I had did prior. Not raiding or anything, as I was still in school and had important exams that year, but to a level where I could hold my own in those challenging 5 man instances.

When I levelled my Ret Paladin (Just to play the Horde and to take a step back from healing), I still had my Lay on Hands at the ready, just in case the healer started to struggle. I must admit, the start of Cata was a highlight period for me. :triumph:

Times are different, most people wait for sales, wait for actual player reviews (so not from influencers which might be paid to say what they say) before they buy, first day sales are lowering while if the game is positively received by the first batch of buyers you see post first day sales higher then they used to be

Not enough people do it yet, but plenty to the point that most hype we see today is the cautious type of hype

Before most games were good on release, so there was a level of trust between devs, publishers and consumers, that trust was broken in the last few years and the consumer part of the market is responding (think the Remember, No Pre-orders meme), devs and publishers that will not change and will continue to not work on trust will die off because eventually no one will buy their games

I fully believe Blizz when they say the trait system not being as good as they wanted it to be and basically being a failure was the major reasons for BFA failing because that’s how I experience it myself, I wouldnt mind most of this expac if my abilities weren’t tied to replaceable gear that needs to be upgraded every major patch, hope they learn for shadowlands
