Blood elfskintones why is it a problem?

Because they’re elves. Not humans. We never had a black elf in the game, so them coming out of the blue is weird. Specially since blood elves are supposed to be night elves who after long years of being away from the well of eternity, became smaller in size and lighter in skin tone. And then all of a sudden boom, Black blood elf ready to play?

Not everything has to be a racial issue if we’re talking about skin colours.

Black humans in the game? No big deal. Black blood elves? It doesn’t make sense.

The difference between real life and in game is black people have always existed in real life, certain countries were just unaware of them.
But black elves just popped up out of nowhere despite the fact that we knew all the races of Azeroth.

So that is why people might want to know where they came from, not because they want justification on why black is acceptable (which would border racism) but more so just to understand the story. Have they been hiding? Did they choose to go darker skinned? etc.

I am all in favor of black skin tones on all races, the people against it are absolutely absurd individuals, but I would also like to know their story.

On the topic of ears, they’re horrid, especially the stubby night elf male ears… makes me shuddere.

Void Elves make no sense, but here we are.

They look more like feet than ears

At least, they tried explaining void elves in that mediocre starting quest for void elves and the unlocking allied race quest.

Unlike black blood elves that are coming from nowhere.

Besides, void elves weren’t a good role model to begin with.

If only the fanart matched what we got in game. Please remember this is only beta screenshots. There is a not as dark as these screenshots skin tone in game too.

Blood Elf

Human

My biggest criticism atm is that when you choose the darkest skin option you get very little from any of the preset face choices and the make up options on human females seem to cease to exist. In SWTOR I had a magnificant dark skinned character and the bright make up stood out on her. She looked so fierce!

It does not harm the game in any way to be more inclusive but people need to stop needlessly labelling others racist. No it does not require any back story to introduce different skin tones to the game but equally people can dislike tones they feel go against their ideal of a race. If it wasn’t a dark skin colour we wouldn’t have so many people being quick to label others. Just imagine that it’s the Dark Iron Dwarves (who look hella cool IMO) are being given a neon green skin tone, it would seem out of place. And that’s all people are trying to say.

Give it a year or so into SL and we’ll all be used to seeing a more diverse playerbase, and NPCs too I hope.

Well, make something up I suppose? It is a fantasy world after all.

I don’t mind. I’m just answering why people have a problem with it.

Because apparently, anything that has to do with skin colour is instantly assumed to be a racist problem. Which is getting annoying. Not everyone takes the skin colour into consideration everytime they talk.

It’s not a problem in my book, though i could see it going against lore if there is no previous example.

But, Blizz can fix that easily with a new location where we can see these black skin elves originating from. Some saharian wasteland (or beach paradise? :sunglasses: ) on Azeroth that was cut off from the rest of the world bla bla, we’ve seen this movie before.

Now you no longer have to exclude the possibility.

From my personal point of view, everyone can have whatever color you want on your char, you want bright purple? You got it chief. You wanna be a mean green elven machine? Hell yeah, i won’t make you mad by saying no.

That’s mostly Americans… every lil’ dung has to be racist.
Hmm… was that racist? Nah cause Americans ain’t no race.

I think it looks ok. It gives more options for both Blood elf’s and Void elf’s to choose from.

I will personally not choose the skin colors myself (Because my skin color is light olive) but it’s still nice to have ingame for a little more diversity, instead of the stereotypical Blonde pale elf.

This new change won’t change what the leader of “Silvermoon” looks like, Lor’themar is still pale, and so is Anduin, and so is Alleria.

But it’s just something extra to have for diversity. I personally like the idea.

And as for Human I’m pretty sure Varian’s mother was Dark skinned. In the comics she’s very very Dark but in the movie she was more brown.

These are nothing new to the lore, we knew different kinds of tribes existed and we do know where they come from. Black elves however are a brand neew thing that goes against the lore.

Exept i have no problem with the Black humans. Am I racist towards elves only ?
Face it you are looking for racism.

I am indifferent to the additions. To me a blood elf will always be a pale skinned creature. It has nothing to do with my own skin colour any more than I always make my trolls blue skinned. It just fits my idea of what they should look like.

I guess that is in the eyes of the beholder. Not in my eyes personally.

You mean like you have https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/character/eu/turalyon/lothamír

Thats low and very rude …

Seriously are like a detective IRL XD ?

All in all i like how he is more passive on his OP and more agresive while on his alt. Kinda smells like… pushing an agenda.

i think the ash grey night elves go with the dark eyes, gray hair colour and burned skin face scars.

the idea is that these ‘ashen elves’ are a survivor of the burning of the tree and that maybe their ash grey tones are due to being there at the time.

i predict there will be many new ‘ashen elves’ in the roleplaying realms, often moaping about (in the same way players were drawn to RPing emo DKs and DHs there) with the gray hair, gray skintone and scarred face option.

its tempting to use that to be unusual. but i get the feeling that in some places, there will be a lot of these survivor night elfs, so it might be worth waiting till the flavour of the month, as it were, has died down a bit.
its a shame they dont have body scars too., those would work wonders with the right kind of transmog and the right kind of backstory.

There’s your problem.

Not in my opinion. They are basically belfs with dark skin. That’s it. There’s no need for a ceremony.

So yeah, the US has a thing about showing how not racist they are by doing things nobody asked for.

You are blamimg me of creating an alt while you are the one posting with multiple alts just face it you are a racist. You are not crying about the other new options that doesn’t fit with the lore the only lore problem you have are black elves. So it’s useless what you are doing. You are a racist and you and i we are done because i don’t like your kind. You say you have a lore problem but in fact you have a skintone problem. That is just wrong. Say what ever you wanne see but you made it clear you are a racist. And your argument about the void elves is bllsht because the first void elf we know has a blood elf skincolor. Alleria Windrunner. So stop pretending it to be a lore problem your only problem with the lore are black blood elves. The rest you seems not to care about. You racist

It isn’t a problem. People are just pissed that we’re getting more customization.
