It’s already banned in some states albeit only on government devices, but that is a start. Even though I am not an American citizen they would still have my vote to ban it outright.
Why would you think he was going to retire? Did he announce his retirement?
I think it’s far more outrageous that the USA is trying to force a successful company into being sold.

Time to buy some shares now before they go higher.
Eh, no qualms with getting rid of it… the platform literally doesn’t get moderated, unless a high profile case like Taylor Swift gets involved, allowing dangerous “challenge” trends to TREND where many easily influenced users have gotten themselves killed or seriously injured.
Nah it will be called “tikBobbywantsanotheryachttok”
just as outrageous as other countries banning things like facebook, instagram, x (twitter), and so on.
it’s all (dirty) politics, nothing new.
we’d expect people with half a brain to steer clear, but we all hop on the bandwagon.
When a platform is full of the g word and is making kids do stupid challenges that people are being killed from, then I think it’s about time the platform was removed.
It’s a plague, anyone who thinks it’s a great app needs to have a check up with a doctor asap.
Tiktok in the US from a democrat point of view is a great recruitment tool, so most leftists don’t want it banned. Most people with a working brain, can see it’s full of silly kids, doing stupid things, which I mentioned above it’s getting other kids killed.
Then you have the other side, where you have grown men, asking kids to contact them and be part of their “family”…
But personally, Facebook and Instagram I never use, as they’re pointless. But Twitter/X is in my opinion the most important one, which hopefully doesn’t get banned as it stops MSM from spreading lies, which you can see with the whole trump thing yesterday xD
Was amazing to see in real time.
But if Bobby purchases Tiktok, I doubt you’ll see anything really changing in the way the platform is used.
I am not familiar with Taylor Swift and TikTok. Google was not forthcoming either. Other than some music labels removing the rights to have their music played on the platform.
I can’t say I’ve had any issues reporting on Tik Tok and their moderation is better far better than US owned platforms like Twitter now called X.
Stupid trends that are worthy of Darwin awards are on all mediums, I could find some news about that thanks to a google search. Kids also lie about their age to get onto platforms. It’s a tragedy when these things happen.
None of that content has ever come up on my feed on Tiktok, but it works of the basis of what you search and what you look at, what you are sent by your friends etc. You can even reset your algorithm and start afresh if you don’t like the way it’s worked. Most of the ‘challenges’ I see aren’t dangerous, they are funny or a dance etc.
Parents also have to be responsible to control what their kids are accessing. Talk to them, we all know kids will try to find ways to access stuff they aren’t allowed to. But making use of parental controls etc is always a good step.
I do think it would be wise for any platform to try to do their best to moderate and remove dangerous content though. No article I found mentioned if the posts would be taken down.
I agree there needs to be bigger restrictions in place to stop kids from getting onto these platforms, especially in this day and age with how some people are acting and what they’re saying. Jeffrey Marsh being the main example in my opinion and the way they’re directing their content to children.
I’m still waiting on the south korean model to finally makes it way over to this part of the world, where any account you create needs to be tied to your national ID.
Depends on what one would call moderation, on most platforms where people speak out they will become silenced or banned in favor of a very minor vocal group.
Can’t say how it is on TikTok ofcourse, because i keep my family faaaaaaaaaaaar away from that cesspool.
Indeed, parents in the end should (try to) be aware what their children are doing, and make the kids aware of the do’s and don’t of the internet.
Define dangerous content, because there’s some things i deem very dangerous to humankind in general, but i can say with full confidence that once i would openly discuss that here i will get reported and / or silenced.
Dangerous content in this context would be things that result in death like something encouraging you to strangle yourself and film the aftermath. The stuff that I found in the news.
These are not new trends, they’ve been around for years. I never felt the urge to do them when I was a child tho.
agreed, “challenges” that promote stupidity and self harm should be heavily penalized.
1 billion percent agree and know exactly what you’re referring too. I already mentioned one of those “creators”.
I’ve heard that in other countries, Tik Tok is actually used for educational purposes.
It’s only certain countries where stupidity is promoted.
This is why India banned it and why America is trying too.
It’s physiological warfare.

Thing is not everything you see on ANY social media is going to be factual. That is regardless of which platform you look at.
If you are going to blindly believe everything someone posts then you’re going to be in for a hard time.
Indeed, a lot of stuff, when i see the things on X these days, i get force fed a lot of US politics and things that people claimed to have said or done whether true or not, i can’t say.
“Luckily” there’s now reader context where a lot of stuff that supposedly has been said or done gets debunked now and then.
If you don’t want to live in a state of anxiety then people should take some distance from these things, take a breather or just shut it off.
It’s why I stopped reading the news a long time ago.
For example, I came across an article when opening my browers and a certain country’s leader who was moving his arm in a direction to tell people to go there or as an expression of something, it was nothing special and if you watched the video you’d clearly see it, for what it was was.
But western media outlets were saying “omg he’s doing the WW2 evil army hand salute!”.
Just a lot of crap to get attention, alot of western propaganda and unfortunately people who are not smart enough to look into things for themselves, believe it.
In terms of X, yeah a ton of US related politics is all over that place and I lose count on how many accounts I have to block each day, just to read a tweet and the normal replies.
A great many things. And even things that have a huge telemetry machine usually has at least some other value - but this thing is literally just endlessly displaying super short videos and watching how quickly you scroll past them to create an ad profile. Other than the sheer scale of delivering the content due to the amount of users, there isn’t much app there.
I don’t care, never used tiktok in my life and never will. The stuff of tiktok wich got reposted onto other siteswere so terrible or annoying.I dont get people like that stupid stuff
