Ofc not - there wouldnt be any difficulties if they kept it as it was.
Personally, I believe Blizzard should reintroduce all removed quest chains so people could play the story of the game without needing to use Youtube to fill the gaps. Something is wrong when you need to check Youtube videos of a game to understand the story instead of playing the game.
The following quest chains should return
- MOP Legendary quest chain
- WOD Legendary quest chain
- MOP Patch 5.3 quest chain
- Allied races unlock quest chain (it hasn’t been removed but can’t be repeated with any character of your account once you unlock the allied races, and next patch, all allied races will be unlocked without quest chains)
- Shadowlands and BFA Preexpansion quest chain, just like WOD and Legion quest chain, are still in the game
- Mage Tower, including unlock quest chain (Unlock quest chains were removed at the end of Legion, I am not sure if they returned when Mage Tower were back in Shadowlands)
With those things all the story will be available, combining Retail and Classic WOTLK.
Additionally, once Classic WOTLK ends, they should bring back Old Azeroth in Retail (and Classic Cataclysm), including old versions of dungeons. Classic use behind the wells the same client and server as Retail but with old data, so anything that works on Classic should work on Retail. They could make a phase of the Eastern Kingdom and Azeroth with the WOTLK version.
I know that WOTLK is there, but I am worried that once the phases end and continue into Cataclysm, we will lose Old Azeroth again. So, if Blizzard will make Classic Cataclysm this time, they shouldn’t repeat the mistake of deleting the Old World. They should make the work to have both versions and if they do that for Cataclysm, they could reuse it on Retail.
Or keep eternal WOTLK servers. That would work too.
The content should return. The rewards? I don’t care. There are so many pets, mounts, and transmogs that is overwhelming. I truly don’t care about those things anymore. So, if Blizzard will choose to keep rewards exclusive to reintroduce the old content, I will support it. But that doesn’t mean I care about prestige and old rewards if I believe that destroying that prestige by bringing back the rewards so I have the old content I will support it too. I just don’t care about the sides against prestige and in favor of it. I will support whenever side is more convenient for restoring old content.
there really isn’t much to do in current content , at least for gearing.
That isn’t possible. Blues have already confirmed that the motorbike is unavailable due to legal reasons. It is related to how the motorbike was announced as an exclusive price of a contest, and Blizzard registered the contest in California, so apparently, breaking the exclusivity will mean breaking California’s contest laws. Everything related to those bikes was a mess anyway, so it is not surprise they did so wrong so they lock themselves the possibility of reusing the bike.
Removing content is just plain silly
