Huh? Nerfed?
Since 9.1 it does 40% less dmg in PvP or something among this line. Earlier it could hit 25k now it barely hits over 13k
I considered Vesper Enha shaman viable but the problem is mana cost of the Totem so you lose 1 heal using it.
About NF and Necro DH. The Hunt is also a gapclosed/root/heal. Necro is tankier itself. NF also has a choice between Naiya and Korayn where you can play Naiya when you need damage and Korayn when you need to be more tanky. Plague Deviser Mereldith gives you 120 mastery when you have Fleshcraft on but it’s not even near. Other soulbinds aren’t good for DH though.
Necro is better option for Anoraaz playstyle because it is way more tanky and has way more useful Covenant spells while also stacking mastery.
Basically what Anoraaz is doing is playing without Covenant spell because Sinful Brand is so bad that it rearly deals more than 5% of your dmg.
Hey there ,as a one of better dh players i would like to make a few things right here since iam bored at work. NF is whats making DH vaiable ,necro would be best for us only if you could control
demon when does he spawn coz u dont want to setup a go based on rng (we have enough of that in our deffensives) and the only things i would buff on DH are: netherwalk a real imunity so u cant get cced or shackeled and make darkness DMG reduction Or lower its CD to 2min from 3. And for the damage part as people mentioned here we re fine where we re with it ,other classes are overtuned.
Remember: DH without reverse magic and hunt is garbage.
Lolz.
It’s close to top 1 damage when vs double dps (they can’t dispel it).
It’s great for breaking rogue’s stealth before they can even shadowstep-sap (glaive is not reliable, taunt is okay but it won’t keep rogue in combat for long if he breaks los, while dot will).
It can’t be dispelled when enemy healer is stunned/cced.
After 9.1.5 it will have 45sec cd so basically spammable ranged dps ability which is useful while I’m rooted or kited somehow.
Casting it gives me +6% vers and my mate +3% vers for 10 seconds (even if dispelled), this also will work every 45 seconds (at least I don’t see any caveats like “cannot occur more often than X”).
Big meta followed by aoe stun does lots of damage with this brand since it applies to everything there (ESPECIALLY if I big meta into demo lock’s demon group, also good vs hunter + his pets, or ww + his clones).
So “playing without Covenant spell” is pure bs Oh and I wonder when you will stop bringing that 1600 game (where you were boosted by duelist healer btw, vs us two green plebs) as example of covenant, lmao.
Still, I consider parasol way more important ability because it creates sudden mini-bursts with unpredictable dps increase (sometimes almost 2x-ing), also it acts like mini-darkness (5% damage reduction + 500hp/sec healing, likely stacks with normal darkness aswell).
Yes, when the hunt goes through. When it doesn’t (DH gets stunned/cced) - whole covenant is neutralized because most buffs also happen after it, so it’s one trick pony.
While you can’t easily neutralize venthyr’s rng-based minibursts or spammable dots.
So, with perfect setup and cc game NF performs better, but it’s not as flexible.
I always use it vs hunters and sometimes priests (mindgames can be reversed and put back on priest). Vs roots it’s usually not worth it because they are usually spammable and 1min cd on reverse is not enough (would be nice if they reduced it to 20sec at least).
I thought you cant get shackled in netherwalk? Well that’s pretty dumb. If we go by the name, it should put you in separate reality like invis from mage except you cant interact with outside world at all. At least I would design it in such a way.
It can be changed from RNG to pseudo RNG or at least a guarantee to avoid lets say first 3 attacks with 100% certainity. Because right now it’s absolute cointoss. I have killed countless of demonhunters just by keeping attacking them through darkness.
Like there are way to change abilities without changing the numbers themselves but I doubt blizzard would care enough.
You know what also can’t be dispelled even when enemy healer isn’t stunned? Dot from the Hunt that actually does damage.
NF dot itself is weaker if we consider cooldown (venthyr dot 45sec vs the hunt 1:30). Also big meta applies venthyr dot on everybody near regardless of cooldown and without putting it on cooldown. So at least 3 dots in short time (in 2v2).
Also if dispelling costs mana then healer will go oom a bit sooner.
Also - healer can’t heal and dispel at same time.
You do not consider cooldown if the damage difference will allow you to land a kill.
If you whoosh with one ability through 2 people and give them both undispellable 60k damage, you will force major cooldowns or land a kill.
If you can land sinful brand every 45 seconds that might deal bit more damage on one single target but is easily dispellable you might not even force defensive cooldowns from your enemy.
By the way the hunt itself has shorter cooldown than the trinket and can be fake casted. Which means not only you can bait defensives with fake cast, but you can also make sure that during the 2nd go the healer will have big troubles against it.
Which is not what people would say about your useless venthyr dot.
Yeah as I said - the hunt is better with PERFECT SETUP. In all other cases it’s pathetic
And if you don’t you’ll do nothing at all (dot itself barely does pressure).
That’s what I’m doing with my normal dps rotation, as long as I live long enough. And they can’t easily counter normal dps rotation, can they?
Yes but we have 2 trinkets, so it’s same as with Convoke (which has even less cd).
Venthyr dot is just small part of rotation (and also small part of venthyr stuff), you expect too much from 45sec cooldown ability, don’t you think?
Dot literally is one of your biggest dps sources.
Wow, eyebeam to get meta, a stun and the hunt in melee range is so difficult. You need to have at least a Ph. D in arena to be able to press those buttons.
Except until you are at 90% dampening, the DPS doesn’t matter, what matters is burst and CC.
If you truly want to have big dps numbers you should play affli lock or something. A class that actually deals big dps consistently throughout entire game. At least you will have a dispel protection on your dot unlike the dot you use now.
So if it’s as small and useless as you say, why not go for big hunt? You are contradicting yourself. You are like that Patrick with a wallet meme:
“Is venthyr dot easily removable?” - “Yup”
“Does it barely do any damage?” - “Yup”
“So you have a covenant ability that you acknowledge does not impact your game at all and it might be pretty useless and you just press it randomly when it’s off cooldown since it’s a fillar anyway” - “That makes sense to me”
“Then maybe you should go Night Fae which has a way better ability that can actually make some impact on your games?” - “Venthyr is better”
Anoraz i suggest to try yourself why is reverse BIS talent for havoc in 95% games (learn how to use reverse and kite and you are guaranteed 2.1k cr) and also stop this madness with venthyr. Its dispellable and nobody gives a damn about constant dmg in burst meta u re not playing for dumpening with DH in team and only covenant that might be good is kyrian but only with FDK.
It does matter tbh.
I didn’t say it’s useless, read again. Sometimes it’s removed but it still deals some damage while healer is cced (and it deals a lot of damage vs double dps teams that can’t dispel).
If it’s casted when healer is stunned or no healer at all - no.
5k (crit) per tick.
Never ‘acknowledged’ that, read again.
Trying since 1600. I guess it’s BiS with perfect setup, perfect teammate and perfect coordination. But pugging with random healers is different game.
I already explained, read above.
Then how am I at 1.9k.
If enemy has atleast 2 brain cells they will dispell it and reverse magic doesnt need perfect setup or perfect team. Its you who is controling it and can save games with it. How does it need perfect setup when lock fear and coils your mates and u can reverse the whole go with one button same for mage with double frost nova or poly (CHaos nova,Mind Games,Strangulate/HoJ/Dispelling Lock/SP dots from you and mates ,etc.) Its unbelievable powerful how you can shutdown a go. Anyway good luck on your jorney but 1.9 is not really high enough. You will see that yourself when u climb. I had a lot friends who made alt DH and tried convince me on different covenants and all of them went to night fae at some point, however iam not saying its completelly usseles iam just saying Night Fae is the best by a long shot. Imagine yourself fighting jungle with holy priest (mentioning holy priest only because he can fly and smile at you from above) you can kinda easily oneshot pet with proper setup and now you have a big win con. (forcing hunter to turtle) and next hunt u win the video game. Take my advices to improve or ignore ,idm.
From my experience 1.9 is where all those glads, duelists and boosters are playing, it’s very rare to meet somebody Rival-geared or less (unless they’re getting boosted).
So it’s basically where top bracket starts (and it’s harder than 2.1k because at 2.1k I’ll at least have gear).
Easiest, but not necessarily best. Otherwise they’d be a lot of NF DHs above 2.5k, but there is just one (or none), and probably got there before the hunt nerf.
Looks like you have your head ,thats good. Not gonna complain about covenant anymore.Just to make something right: There is everybody above 2.5k night fae including me (only 1 guy necro) and got there after hunt nerf and got there last season when blur was not working and DH was completelly garbage (more than now) and will get there again next season no matter what they do. You will realize yourself everything at some point that DH is the most fragile meele in the game and all you do is kite->burst->kite->burst thats why Night fae is the best. Necrolord is probably only thing that can compare due to deffensives it gives you but i cant imagine do a goes and setup based on rng. Almost forgot to mention that you can fake cast hunt and make your enemies use deffensives for basically nothing + you can soulshape while rooted or jump out of Spear of Bastion, etc. All this things that re hidden behind this covenant are whats making it this good especially in PvP.
Finally someone who plays DH will explain him.
I think Monk is squishier than DH but it has this insane one shot so everyone plays extremely defensive against it.
Yes I do that, but why do I need the hunt when I can do 12.5k single target dps with normal dps rotation (when I get some good RNG). When I get parasol I can delete somebody with 2-3 eyebeams (procs often by legendary), unless they use defensives. Also annihilations hit for 14k (crits, after essense break + isolated prey + parasol) and can be doubled/tripled/… with 9.5% chance (from conduit). It’s potential oneshots right there.
Yeah it’s a bit RNG-based, but the advantage is enemy team can’t really prepare or plan for it.
Well what works best so far is me doing dps 24/7 while healer waiting for good moment to do mindgames / shadow word death / touch of death etc. Then there is no need for ‘goes’ - as soon as RNG happens we can finish it. And as long as it doesn’t happen I just need to survive and put pressure until it happens
Using defensives is wrong way to deal with it, much better to just stun/cc DH right after cast was finished but before it landed (even if it landed and did full damage - if it’s then cced for 10+ seconds healer can fully outheal). So faking won’t work there, only vs people with bad reflexes maybe.
Door of shadows can do it too, PLUS can get you to higher ground unlike soulshape (i.e. blade’s edge or that other one where one would need to run around to get up there so door of shadows surprises them sometimes).
Every thread I open nowadays it’s always people just arguing with this insane person no matter the topic.
If I’d want to consume crap content I might aswell go watch Bellular or something.
The WoW forums were ever anything other than crap content?
DH doesnt need buff, other classes need nerfs, thats why the state of the game is such, if some classes were properly balanced then all would be fine.
