Buff Holy Priests

You have no idea what a disc priest does.
The numbers they produce are not OP, the WAY they heal is just different to other healers.
Disc is not OP, disc is just doing something nobody else does.
Holy priest and Disc priest are NOT doing the same things.

There are not many fights in TOGC where you can just “get all your mana back with Rapture”, in fact, I’d say there are pretty much no fights where that can happen, except for gormok.

Disc is not the problem, Disc is really good, its too good to not take one, but PLEASE don’t make the mistake of thinking, that if disc was bad, the next best would be Holy Priest, IT WOULD NOT, it would be another shaman.
There is nothing HolyPr does that Shaman doesn’t do better, and no, Guardian Angel is not good at all.

Disc priest is good because they use shields, which is healing before the dmg happens. Nobody else can do that, nobody is competing with Disc in a raid spot.

Holypri are just aoe heal bots that are worse than Rdru and worse than Restosh. Holypri tank healing is also kinda wack.

If you take a fight like Valkyr - where healing is not capped by a full hp bar, always lots of dmg being taken:

You can see by wcl that holypri are just a little bit further ahead than Disc priests, but still a good 20-40% behind all the other healers.

Disc reaches a limit where it is useful, rdru, holypala and rsham are holding back most of the time.
Holypri just doesn’t have the PUSH.

You must not confuse disc and holy priests as being the same player.
There are double the amount of paladins as disc, and there are double the amount of disc than there are rdru/rsha.
There are 20x the amount of holypala as holypri.
If holypriest wasn’t hot steaming garbage, you would ABSOLUTELY see those paladin numbers come down and more holy priests.
People play what is the best, and holypriest doesn’t even get to see the podium, they are behind the curtain.

The only way to see Holypri see success before the expac is over is to accept that they suck, and start by fixing their god awful toolkit.
Lightwell is an offence to the players, absolute tragedy of game design.
If you fixed Lightwell, they would still be worse than restosh and Rdru, they need a good fat dunking in the buff cauldron.

Serious suggestions?

  • Give them the 6% healing aura like rdru/hpala.
It wouldn’t make much difference, but would give them a reason to compete with rdru.

  • Fix lightwell, one of the main power budget of the spec is totally useless. (Just swap it with the one the priest from ToC uses and call it a day).

  • Glyph of Body and Soul: When talented, your body and soul reduces the duration of Weakened Soul by 15seconds, but your power word shield is on a 30s cooldown.
(This would mean holyPri can use their shields intuitively, without annoying the disc)

  • Serendipity, allow RENEW to gain stacks of Serendipity.

  • Surge of Light, also Double the healing of the Flash heal when it is instant and incapable of critting.

I have a disc priest. I know how they function. I also play Rdruid and Rshaman and i know how Disc interract with the rest of the raid. I have also cleared everything in Wrath and i know how they impact fights.

The shield are way to strong as it is now. They need to be dragged down a notch.

While I could see some arguments for buffing Holy, I don’t think they will. They clearly messed up horribly with the ret and feral buffs.

Buffing the second priest healing spec while warriors and hunters are in the state they are in (personally I see hunter’s actually doing really well in raids, but I acknowledge the top parses don’t reflect my personal view here), would be an absolute joke. Hunters are mediocre and warriors are beyond unwanted.
Hunters atleast have loottables in their favor, so they can gear easier to compensate, and they have some nice utilities - but remain thoroughly mediocre.
Warriors I’ve literally not seen anybody want a warrior for anything ever guild or pug in the entire expansion.

If disc priest shield was dragged down, how do you think that would impact raid composition?

They are either good enough to take, or not good enough to take, since they don’t HEAL they SHIELD and nobody is competing with them for that.

If you think Disc is the reason holy isn’t played, i think you are probably lacking class knowledge.

Nerf uh dk, then we will see way more blood dk dps!
Nerf affli warlocks, then destruction warlocks will rise up!

oh no, ferals and ret aren’t bottom of the barrel dog tier anymore? What a mistake blizzard has made! How can you be upset that a class has been buffed while also complaining the class you play hasnt been buffed.
Buffs and tweaks for every class should be standard, game is a subscription and pretending its solved or preserved is a waste of breath.

What are you guys smoking

My main argument is for buffing Holy Priests.

It would not change anything at all with raid comps as the unique way of shields would still help.

Discs still heal, they have more tools than just the shields. But the shields are so strong that most fights get trivialised by them.

With Pain Suppression it’s difficult to imagine any amount of PWS nerfs resulting in disc priest not still being relevant to most raid comps. You would probably see a situation where disc priests are multi-speccing with both disc and holy sets and switching depending on whether the boss requires disc utility or the raw healing of holy. The reduction of absorb healing would likely open avenues for an additional shaman or druid which seems like a much healthier situation.

Holy priests are good as it is, but jesus its just useless to play it in Anub hc, flash heals are so bad and i cant cast renew + PoM…
Only good thing is to throw Guardian spirit on maintank to boost beacons holy light on offtanks

Which fights in phase 3 are being trivialised by priest shields?

You guys are fully brain washed into thinking disc is the reason holy priests aren’t played.
Holypriest bring 0 nothing to a raid, and are worse than other raid healing specs.
Disc and holy aren’t competing for each others spot, nerfing disc does nothing to alter the viability of holy.

If you were going to play Disc on an encounter, and then disc is nerfed, you are still gonna play disc on that encounter, only now you’ll bring less HPS and look crap on healing meters (lol) because at the end of the day, thats the only reason you think disc is op, healing meters.

You go out in the rain with Coat and Boots, having a really nice coat won’t make you skip the boots, taking your coat off and holding a pair of boots to your chest won’t keep you dry either.
Holypriests are sandals.

“holy priests are fine”, yes thats why they represent 2.3% of all healers raiding TOGC25 right now right?

whole spec in the dumpster and all you guys got in the chamber is “disc too good idk chief”

Are you talking about phase 3 in Anub? Disc Priests also just flash heal.

Where did i mention p3 specificly?

Any fight with a lot of raid dmg get turned in to jokes by Discs.

k

do you know what thread your in

“If you were going to play Disc on an encounter, and then disc is nerfed, you are still gonna play disc on that encounter, only now you’ll bring less HPS”

This is kind of the point though. That loss of HPS from disc shields would bring a greater group need for raid healing from the struggling specs rsham, rdruid and hpriest.

You’ve admitted disc would still be viable without performing well on HPS so the fact it’s also top of HPS is the very definition of something overpowered and requiring a nerf.

This is 0 change to current roster and viability of holy priest, you would just end up making restodru and restosh a little higher on the HPS meter.

Will you simply ignore this everytime i say it?

Disc being good, isn’t why holy is bad

All raid healers are “bad”, it isn’t a holy priest specific problem. The need for raid healing in the game is in general very low compared to original wrath largely because of the increased understanding of the effective value of beacon and PWS and how they can be used to reduce the need for other healers and raid healing in general.

So long as you’re willing to accept the 4 (or less) healing roster of Hpally x2, disc + another as the default then any big changes to boost holy priests would only see another spec (likely resto druid) fall into a similar state.

The only actual solution is a return of 5-healing rosters as standard (which was the case in wrath) and that can only be achieved by nerfing the two most ridiculously overpowered healing abilities in the game to create a greater need for tank support healing and general raid healing.

So yes Disc isn’t taking Holy’s spot directly but PWS is creating an environment through it’s insanely effective absorbs where less raid healing is needed and cutting healing rosters to 3 or 4 becomes viable and encouraged.

I disagree, why in that case are there 5x more rdrus and rshams than holypri?

I would guess because there’s only 1 spot for an extra healer and the shaman or druid bring superior utility and buffs considering a disc priest is already offering most of what a holy priest could bring.

If there’s 2 spots for an extra healer the criteria becomes less strict and more of a player over class decision.

Yes. The one where they ask for buffs to the second strongest healing class. Holy worked fine in vanilla Wrath and it works fine now. People just don’t want it because Disc is so much stronger.

Any questions on that?

Disc is not stronger than Holy, they don’t do the same thing. How many times must this be repeated before you understand?
A spec is a spec, there are ways to buff holy that don’t buff disc.
Just like the best tank, healer in the game, paladin, got their dps spec buffed.

Everything after this is a waste of breath, you said it.
Holypriest are inferior to the other raid healing specs.

You guys insist on refusing to accept that holypriest suck and that it has nothing to do with disc.

A 5 healer comp is 2Holypala, Disc, Restodru, Restosha.

Whats next, you gonna say we should take 6 healers?

I would take an extra resto shaman, because… * drumroll * - they bring utility

It works so fine, nobody plays it. 2.3% of healers.
