Calia is dumb.

She was never mentioned as even existing until WAY into WoW’s lifespan, is a SUPER SPECIAL UNDEAD FUELLED BY LIIIIIIIIIGHT, and her most unique traits are being Arthas’s sister and the whole LIIIIIIIIGHT thing. Neither of which is terribly compelling. She also looks like a pin-up model with grey skin, which… isn’t the Forsaken’s thing. I mean, being sweaty fanboys for a grey-skinned pin-up model is definitely the Forsaken’s thing, but still. Give them a leader that actually looks like the vast majority of the race, please.

You want an Undead leader with actual links to the faction, with a philosophical nature that might lead them to a better path, without entirely forsaking (hah) their troubled existence? Alonsus Faol is right over there.

Your story is quite nice though. I just hate everything about the character you’ve written it from the perspective of.

Thank you! I didn’t write this to support Calia on the throne again. I’m against that. I think someone else will be a better leader.

I only wrote this to show Calia’s side of the story and how it feels to be a Princess in Lordaeron, losing a kingdom, her brother going crazy, all that.

I’m pretty sure they mentioned her.

She was just “missing” until wow decided to add her. Sort of like Alleria Windrunner was missing

From what I recall, Calia didn’t exist in the lore until Arthas: Rise of the Lich King. That’s nearly four years into the game, and even then she was a relatively bit player in the book. A book that not all that many people read, because having to read tie-in literature to know anything about a character kind of sucks.

Alleria, by comparison, is the first Windrunner, from way back in Warcraft 2 and it’s expansion.

Fair enough. That makes sense

Don’t let it put you down though. Like I said, the story is great.

I just felt the need to vomit my own dislike of a character all over it!

Now that would be interesting.

So, that’s how she landed in Orgrimmar, I see.

It’s actually pretty far.
Running from Southshore to Scarlet Monastery in classic is a rather annoying thing.

Actually, no, there is no evidence. The only time [since the beginning of the 3rd war] Southshore was seriously attacked was in Cataclysm. So, unless the devs retroactively add something into the time frame between the death of Terenas and Classic, “lived some time in Southshore” could take all this time. After all, she did not know there is any difference between the scourge and any other kind of undead.

If the devs could be able to write things like that from time to time, her story would be noticably better.

Calia is nothing. Blizzard better not make her connect to the Forsaken. We don’t want her in the Horde. She needs to go away asap.

She was briefly mentioned in Arthas novel iirc. But no details. In WoW rpg there was also the “Forsaken captive” part, but it did not materialize in the game in that form. iirc the devs wanted a light undead, somebody reminded them about Calia, so they looked for a way to quickly kill her in the story. Which feels somewhat rushed and confusing.

Well, there is undead fueled by arcane. [Meryl Felstorm] And in WoD there is a quest which depicts a life entity which behaves like a scourge

https://wow.gamepedia.com/The_Dark_Lady%27s_Concern

Also, necrolytes used void magic to raise undead. So, this topic is kind of complicated. Just like the details of what Calia is.

You mean as a character, or as a developers’ idea?

Kind of, but there are plently of story lines that involve Menethils from the very first days of proto-humans arriving from Northrend. There was an interesting video on topic.

I would add to it: perhaps Calia never really died and naaru just kept her soul, preventing her from loosing whatever could be there; reason why dreadlords could be so adamant in destroying Scarlets could be related to why Sylvanas was getting rid of books about Lordaeron - to remove the info about this connection; killing Calia specifically could be important for the plans of Sylvanas, but, if Saa’ra prevented the Menethil from being truly dead, this propably achieved nothing.

Given how the light affects undead, that is actually a way bigger thing than people seem to expect. Just her presence alone could be a blessing for some, and a terror for other undead.

IMO she look like a fake undead. I saw in mag’har scenario a naaru using “blessing of eternity”. So, there is a possibility, that Calia is just physically “stuck in time” and not really (un)dead. But who knows.

In the end that is likely going to happen, but a healthy reminder to the devs about how out of place she is near the horde, would not be a bad thing IMO.

Calia is certainly a something. But something for the alliance side IMO and ridiculously odd around the horde one. Although her path, if one exclude odd dialogues, actually make some sense.

I mean, she is connected. Always was. But there is more than one way to bake a cake.

:+1:

Well, she can be seen in Shadowlands recently, so that’s a welcome beginning. Also, the devs changed her from neutral to friendly to the alliance. And added some bits of dialogue suggesting she is not really interesting in leading the horde undead, and giving a few hints at where her story can go. So, we’re on the right track for now IMO.

Are you sure? How did this info went over my head lol

I looked for info about it. Checked Classic quests for both alliance and horde. Also looked at the summary at wowpedia

https://wow.gamepedia.com/Southshore

All the info there is are [such notes as]:

During the Third War, Southshore was a lively place.

Southshore was a quiet port town and one of the few pockets of human civilization that existed in Lordaeron, maintaining their allegiance to the Alliance. A few survivors of the Third War and adventurers called this town home.

Some time after the fall of Capital City to the Scourge, Calia Menethil took refuge in Southshore where her husband, a Lordaeronian footman, and their daughter had already been living. With everyone assuming she had died to the Scourge, she lived in secret with her family until the town was attacked by the undead.

So, it’s still possible that the devs will add something that was never mentioned before. I am not aware of anything that would be like a destruction of Southshore or an event driving it’s citizens away. [prior to Classic]

If you find something else on the topic, I could miss things - share. Knowledge is power ©

Don’t worry she won’t replace Sylvanas.

Someone mentioned that Blizzard confirmed this on Twitter, that she would not become the Forsakrn Queen. But I didn’t check Twitter myself to make sure as I don’t have Twitter.

it’s ok. Usually people just use abridged versions like wowpedia, or Nobbel’s videos. While they are great to learn about something being a thing, looking at the sources can reveal extra details that can show something previously unnoticed.

wowpedia, for example, marks Calia Menethil as a horde character, while we have interview from blizzcon 2019, stating

And there is a bunch of other things. Like, when I read just wowpedia, I thought that val’kyrs were loyal to Sylvanas. But I am not sure after learning more about them.

You’re welcome. But, just in case, double check things I mention, because English is not my native language so I can misunderstand things, or not figure out the meaning.

That is called progress , oh You knew it ?

Then get away with it before it is too late one pure soul righteous daughter and bloodline of good king Terenas Menethil lamely assassinated by jealousy and treachery by the banshee who’s fate with the intercession of a Naru and both Anduin and Alonsus becomes the next evolution step !

Just like when the racist and hainous treacherous genocidal Frieza hates of the saiyan created the one person to avenge all the helpless creatures and souls he killed and fullfill the prophety of his downfall !

Something greater than both human and undead yet both of it and able to harness the power of the light !

A leader than does not us them as arrows in her quiver and who create a brighter in all sense path and a place for already forsakens of all races, humans , kaldoreis , Sin’doreis and all others who will unfortunately share that fate knowing it or unknowingly or already share it and are hunted and rejected from everywhere and their wn previous faction !

So than they aren’t slaves to a tyrant and to be hunted and exterminated by everyone and every x- pack or so !

Calia is a non entity. She needs to be removed from the game before she can do too much damage to the Forsaken narrative.

i for one welcome the new advisor to the forsaken … as for a leader i don’t think they need one they too should have a council

I’m a sucker for the “Lost heir”-trope, and I didn’t like the forsaken under Sylvanas, but always thought they had the potential to be interesting, while reclaiming their place in the world, so I’m curious about Calia to be honest.
