Can death knights leave the Ebon Blade? And join their factions instead

HOW are there new DK’s post-Scarlet Harvest era and if there are no Val’kyr around from the Forsaken either?

Catch me up. I am -WOEFULLY- behind on the times?

Basically, lich king magic.
and a WHOLE LOT of missing dead bodies from a recent war.

I thought he’s sitting on the throne, completely unknown to the very vast majority of people.

Not since Shadowlands? maybe late BFA
His also not the Lich King anymore
no one is.

I believe it largely depends on what level of “Death knight” a character is. There’s undead not raised by the lich king around. I’d be a bit wary with involving runeblades and Ebon Blade specific traditions/rites, but you’ve examples of Death Knights who’ve largely sworn allegiance to their own factions before the EB. Specifically those that appear in BGs / open world battlegrounds.

Death knights can raise death knights.

With the exception of Arthas himself, every known death knight was killed and raised by someone else, be it the Lich King himself, a Lich, val’kyr, necromancers or simply another death knight.

Dark Naaru work too, though the example for that involves necromancers as well. It’s a point to be made; you could pretty much play a frost or unholy DK draenei as a fallen Auchenai or a vindicator raised by them, and it’d have nothing to do with the EB.

Light Death Knights when?

I didn’t read the whole thread so I’m probably rehashing a few things that have already been said.

Death Knights can leave the Ebon Blade, but there is absolutely no reason to. You can fight for your faction even when you are still an Ebon Knight.

There is no such thing as Knights being declared “rogue” just for leaving the order. Death Knights don’t need to prove their Ebon Blade premium membership in cities and they don’t need permits, but they are subject to local law wherever they go, just like everyone else.

Also consider that, if you really decided to ditch the Ebon Blade altogether, you lose you access to runeforges, a steady supply of saronite, 24/7 medical support, and pretty much everything that makes Death Knights what they are. You effectively become a slightly more robust Forsaken.
