Yes, I think running to the last boss of alterac valley would be better
Nah, most if them are rogues and warriors.
Rogue has the best kit to boost every class if ur pro
The only people legitimately defending this are people who buy the boosts or people who sell the boosts. Gear differences are annoying but i’m happy to sit at 1100 mmr on my undergeared healer until I get gear because it’s not fair to expect to beat a someone 40 ilevel above you just because. However, on my main who I had no problem reaching 2k a few weeks ago, we’re now getting battered by glad teams left right and center. This will literally be the largest factor is causing myself and others to quit playing this game. I’ve enjoyed the pve content, and have spent months clearing it great. But just being ruined at low rating by sweaty kids boosting ruins evenings of what’s supposed to be fun progression. – Rant over. Please no “Just be better” it’s boring and stupid. Everyone has to start somewhere.
There are, in my opinion, several avenues to look at which might reduce from how widespread it is right now and please, if you have any ideas to help please share. Introduce a decay system for rating. You already have to play 50 games at glad to get the title cool, good step, now play 15-20 games to keep it, or you lose it, same with mount.
Alternatively have a look at the old team based system for 3s, where you have your personal rating within the team that you can keep, but the titles are given to the top 3 and mmr is done based off of highest in team rating.
These are obviously not perfect ideas and there’s flaws but with the current system i can see it causing myself and many others to quick out of sheer frustration. You don’t see this is any other game, where you can spend entire nights playing against the top 1% of the player base because they’ve “earned their titles” and just boost.
I learned my alt cant survive a fully geared fire mage opener.
pvp scaling, templates, arena teams bonus, …
it’s almost like blizzard consistently provide very bad implementations of very good concepts which would almost certainly help with these issues and imo make a better experience altogether
Im 211 ilvl and I rarely found anyone being on my ilvl or under me in 1200. And on the top of that ofcourse half of them are palas and mages and rogs.
Tbh, 220 ilvl around 1800 would be completely fine, but these dudes mostly have 226/227 ilvl and play on glad-level in 3s or rbg. You can’t outplay players with way higher gear and more experience. Characterwide mmr would solve most problems, so when having 2,5k in 3v3 you can’t get matched with 1,6k players in 2v2. And the people to want to help their friends out would need to play an alt on lower rating which results in less gear or hard way to gear up fast. The cross-pvp with seperate ratings is the main problem and it would be easy to fix this I guess. But probably blizzard just earns too much money with tokens.
At what ratings do these boosters show up? I haven’t seen any in my ~200 games in low rating.
Yeah, the playerbase can. stop buying tokens, stop buying boosts. How anyone can spend a monthly fee on a game and buy a p2w token for 20£ is beyond me. do people not have IRL stuff that is more tempting to buy than 1 hour worth of fanboying a r1 to get those sweet pixels
Its not that obvious at super low rating since the pool of players is the biggest at the bottom. So youll rarely meet them.
Once you break 1700 every other game you play is vs glad or R1 glad level competition.
From my experience as a casual player who is learning the game. I just started gearing my druid, it is 201 ilvl right now, and im trying to hit 1.4k to further upgrade my gear. But at 1.2k cr we started to face very high item level players, ptobably 1/10 arenas we play are against simular geared players. We are slowly getting there tho. Hit 1395 today. The times we actually beat 215-226 ilvl+ players with 201 gear is small and honestly i learned nothing from it. They just got killed by unexpected burst. Next season ill be earlier on grinding my alt haha
These boosters dosnt realise they are killing the very content they love. New players starting arena will be scared away very quickly cus of this stupid boosting mentality… God i would love if there was some way to make it banable and enforce it.
Thing is blizzard are probably seeing an all time high sales with their wow tokens. Absolutely no way they are going to put an end to that.
They might not even be boosting but most of top PvP players don’t give a crap about 2s and they just don’t play them serious. It means these people play with their fans on streams in these brackets and don’t truely boost these people. If you meet this in 3s where there 2 fully geared people and 1 undergeared guy it’s 100% boost. Also some players park their char on certain bracket in 3s let’s say and then cap in 2s before they push.
The only solution I can think off is just matchmaking rework. First of all I’d remove MMR because it allows for wintrading and then make 1 MMR for all brackets. 2s, 3s, rbgs. In 2s win +10 rating lose -10 (more/less if you play vs higher, lower team), in 3s +15 and -15 and in RBG +25 -25. Make ranks like in Dota so if Challenger is between 1600-1800 then make different levels of challenger:
1601-1640 - Challenger *
1641-1680 - Challenger **
1681-1720 - Challenger ***
1721-1760 - Challenger ****
1761-1800 - Challenger *****
Make matchmaking based on CR and title not on MMR. For example if Gladiator 1 plays with Challenger 5 they will face Rival 5 - Duelist 1 players. I think it’s more fair.
Rank 1 active rank for first 1000 players in the ladder. Like Immortal in Dota showing the current rank in the ladder. First 1000 players in the ladder are Rank 1 and can use the title but only players who stay Rank 1 at the end of the season keep the title.
What this achives:
- Boosting is hard and the only possible way is with playing on someone’s account = ban. Many top tournament players wouldn’t risk it.
- Rating sitting is over. It’s a thing a lot of top players complain about. Many top players who achieved certain ratings don’t play anymore unless they are not in safe R1 range. That’s why many EU players play on NA where people don’t care about it.
- People will play vs similarly geared players (and some PvE players who are better geared but aren’t necessarily good).
Unfortunately this is never going to happen. Too much development and Blizzard doesn’t like to invest into PvP.
Well, you can go with that “who cares” attitude all you want, but obviously people attribute value to it. Or else they wouldn’t spend money on it. Same can be said for the game itself, or anything IRL, why do you consume things you don’t need to survive?
Simple answer is that your way of looking at it is fundamentally incorrect.
I bought 2 tokens early SL to sell them to be able to craft legendaries because they are insanely expensive this expansion but I don’t find it bad.
If i were to suggest a system it would be ilvl cap for each bracket. So example:
Player X
2v2 1800 rating (rival)
3v3 1100 rating (unranked)
This player got all his gear upgraded to 220 ilvl. When this player plays games bellow 1800 mmr. His gear will automatically adjust itself to whats the highest ilvl possible to have in this bracket. So if he qu 3s and plays at 1200 mmr. His gear will be adjusted to unranked ilvl (200). But this also has the same effect in his 2s games. If he plays a 1760 mmr game his gear will be adjusted to challenger (213) this could make it so its easier for those pushing 1.8k to fight a more balanced game. We see often that 2k rated players help their friends push 1.8k etc, and it would even the scale.
This system would also effect pve gear. So those who pve. better start grinding for pvp gear if they want higher versa.
One thing is fighting a more skilled player. But when his damage and defense is unrealistic for the bracket his playing in. U mostly learn nothing sadly
Yea must be the geae u all stuck 1.6
Not sure what’s so hard to grasp;
Gear improvements are stuck behind certain rating. So far so good. To get to a certain rating you have to slay opponents around the same MMR or slightly higher, only fair. You gotta learn to get beyond a certain level, perfect.
But what we have now, is FOTMs getting high rating in RBGs to use that gear in another bracket. So now you don’t only have to learn how to overcome certain comps and improve your own gameplay, but at the same time overdo yourself because you are 1:0 behind due to gear. Now some just play non-meta specs or comps and suddenly you are 2:0 behind.
The curve is much steeper in the lower brackets due to this. And this even ignores the boosters
