Can we remove the Crafting Order system in TWW please?

Im mostly interested what you find so “stupid” about crafting orders, it dont really decribe a problem you have.

I mean, how often you need crafting orders really? Once, maybe twice every two weeks since sparks have 2 week timegate. Gems, enchants you can buy on AH whenever you want.
Besides, where is the problem making craft order? You go to craft order npc, choose an item you want, press “track recipe” checkbox, go to AH and press search button for mats you need for craft. Send order to crafter you found at price you negotiated and thats it.

I did mention it in the thread but I can make it into more of a bullet-point list and expand more on it.

  • They clearly wanted to make the “Unique Equip” gems that only JC’s could use before usable by everyone (As an example), that they can’t just be posted on the AH Adds a step that just isn’t needed.

  • When there are no duplicate crafting orders out of items someone would want, they need to rather just make a blind guess at a price or Google themselves into a Reddit post with people who outright lie about item prices in comment sections just to earn bank.

  • Why should this extra step even be a thing? Why go to the point of making items be soulbound so that they only can be given out by use of the Crafting Order house? Why not just make it so that they can be posted on the normal AH? It just adds a step that isn’t needed. ← And this feeds into the point of “How often do you need orders really” - It’s not a lot but when it is needed, why on Azeroth must it be tied to a system that isn’t just “Find it on AH, buyout, done.” ?

It keeps me awake at night wondering whatever was the reason to make this dumb change. Sometimes I think they like to troll the players.

Hope they listen and implement it.

I do the same. I unequip to make my inspiration drop as much as possible so I can try to ensure its a rank 1. Unfortunately does not always work and then I regret doing it if it procs.

What is the most rediculous thing to me is that despite me being maxed in herbing I still get more 2 stars than 3 star herbs, like what?

Feels extremely underwhelming.

They said they want to encourage social comunication between players, crafters and customers, and probably to make trade chat more alive with a final goal to make world more alive, more mmo-like. Personally, as a crafter, I made more friends in DF than last three expansions.
About crafter pricing, it is whole another story. Someone calculated that any player doing WQs for 1hour can earn about 15k gold just doing that in one reset. So, it shouldnt be very hard to pay 5k-10k gold for craft which took months to develop for crafter. Note, these are bis crafts you will be wearing whole season.
It is clear you want BoE best gear to be a thing. Problem is someone buy token for money, sells it for gold and just buys bis gear off AH. This might not be P2W, but it is P2Advantage.
This way you need to do the relevant content at relevant difficulty to earn your BiS and that is most fair about system.

Remove the hole in the wall because I can’t use straightforward UI because I’m too unsocial to do even the simplest tasks.

Personally I would prefer if they get rid of the Crafting XP bar from the old crafting system and just run with the crafting knowledge one. But instead of having so many points with only every 5 points getting an upgrade, I think they should just make those points more rare to get and reduce them down to 1 point = 1 upgrade in knowledge.

So like, you invest in 5 points in a single skill tree section and it is already maxed out, since each point is an upgrade in itself and that tree specialization section only persists of 5/5 upgrades.

Simplicity is key here. It should feel more like a skill tree from Skyrim, when it comes to unlock numbers.

for professions if you want the most money, just have herb and mine alts.

when sproecloak was bis, the zaralek glowspore farm was heaven.

not to mention you cant find any crafter on realms with less players or if you are alliance on any big horde realm, draenor kazzak etc.

Then the prices some people want 15-30k for a recraft where u pay the mats etc aswell/

You are descriping p2w its p2w it always will be p2w people that say other wise are simply coping im not sure how anyone would come to the conclusion that it isnt p2w.

Though its not even about it being your bis or not

I couldnt be bothered with the knowledge system but i heard my friend farmed the points for hours everyday so he could get more points which is just silly he has to farm rares for that

who asked? it has nothing to do with the conversation xD

I haven’t seen a single order on my server…

That is mostly problem with small realms themselves, not crafting itself. There is fewer BoEs, fewer guilds, fewer of everything on small ones.

That is not huge problem since orders works cross-faction. All you need is to make lvl 1 alt on oposite faction and find crafter in trade chat.

Overall, Recrafts are cheaper since they require only 40% of original mats. Yes, some crafters ask high prices, but you can always find cheaper offers, just ask for offers in chat.

Well, its not for everyone, and it failed in some manners while succeeding in others.

If I remember correctly some of the goals Blizzard shared were:

  • Give a form of “progression” to crafters and professions, as well as some depth.

  • Return a social factor into the game.

  • Make crafting gear play a role into the end game.

From my point of view they succeeded in their goals, although there are areas that problems have arisen, namely:

  • They overestimated the supply of orders: Most people do not need items crafted regularly, and most orders can be crafted by few crafters each hour. This created a problem that professions did not have public orders that could use (to either level up, or make gold).

  • Finding a crafter for specific item/rank is hard: They have been asked many times to allow public orders to have specific rank requirement. To be fair they declined that cause it would make their second goal fail, which is understandable. The problem still remains, and I think that a system like a posting board/expanded chat, would help the problem, by giving a place for crafters to post their prices/items/ranks.

But overall the system is “OK” in my book, and with some extra work and new tools it could become REALLY GOOD.

Some things that could be done:

  • Posting boards that show X crafters for each item. It could cycle through the day, give priority when online, and have all information for each crafter, so that it can be easy to come into contact, have transparent pricing, and allow different crafters to “clock in”. Ofc it would cycle out crafters that spent more time than intended, to allow others to get in.

  • Public orders by NPCs. Frankly this should have been done ages ago. Have very cheap public orders that “unlock” npcs that send you X personal orders each week, as well as more expensive public orders to provide a “baseline” for some items. This would fix the leveling order by providing some catchup of epic crafts, as well as making public orders more competitive/fair in their price.

Btw for some of your points:

This is actually a really good point. Transparency in pricing is an issue for both crafters and buyers. There have been many times where people ask me the price of something, and I just either tell them to tip whatever they want, or tell them a random number I feel ok with. Most of the time the best thing to do to get the price is ask 3-4 different people in chat to see their prices, and maybe haggle with them to get a better one (some of the crafters even enjoy that).

To be fair, the order system and soul bound items were implemented to give soulbound crafting materials a way to be used. AH uses just gold, but orders can use soulbound materials that the buyer provides. This is the ONLY reason that the system works as endgame gearing.

The question is why does work order exist when we already have AH?

Well. Overall - I like the system. It has some bottlenecks but it’s a good thing which should be expanded. Orders shouldn’t be locked only to current exp but all past expansions gear(for tmogs) also should be available there. That will bring some life to past expansions and farming resources there for people who playing without current exp on retail.
The only bad thing in it that if you late you’re late and can’t catch up with other people so for what usually people want e.g. in season 3 you can’t actually craft at required quality

Pretty sure they already confirmed it’s coming back. Though there could be improvements, for sure.

I think they need it in. If you can just make great gear BoE and post it on the AH it will make the game officially pay to win with the token. Crafting orders require certain bind on pickup items, which is why we can craft as good gear as we can. That is what the system is for and why it’s not gonna go away.

I can’t agree with that point as timegating isn’t a progression
Wide and huge diversity of possibilities and options that require you to put efforts in it - would be.

I haven’t bothered to craft for gold this expansion. Small realm, no orders. If they insist on keeping the orders system they need to make it cross-realm which is probably not feasible.

Removing it seems like a bad play, the profession system as is, is good on paper, but it falls in practice in a few areas;

  • no catchup
  • crafted items remember what they’re made out of and it affects the recraft skill level, this is extremely annoying and a reason not to recraft things that were not originally crafted by you (so taking on a recraft job), this ultimately hurts the regular player who doesn’t know about these mechanics
  • Knowledge was way to dripfed
  • Needs to be less reliant on work orders to progress to max skill level 100-

I feel like if you just solve those 4 issues which you can do by;

  • adding catchup
  • giving a crafted item a set in stone recraft skill that is only dependent on the quality of the item (1 to 5 star) and does not remember what it was made of.
  • stop being skimpy with knowledge
  • work on a better progression path to max skill

Going back to professions as they were means going back to dead professions unless its alchemy or enchanting.
Crafting gear epics with a mat list so big and a item level so low by the time you would craft it, it’ll be a downgrade because you already got something better from a heroic dungeon

i liked the idea of this system but it has been completely automated to the point where its almost cringe.

everytime i whisper someone its just an addon that replies to me with instructions it might aswell be an npc that crafts for me.

I think the crafting system is a good idea but just poorly implemented, you need to many different types of materials for items, I like the idea of getting knowledge points however the fact that it is time gated is never a good thing. They should make a way that you can farm knowledge points and I know you can get some from dirt piles/mythic + but those are also capped. The fact that you can order a BOP item from a crafter is a great implementation.
