Never experienced one, you just think it’s a program, talk to them about something else and you will see that it’s people typing.
This has been the worst crafting system I have seen in any MMO. Just a massive pain to grind it up. Having spent weeks at the start of the expansion levelling crafters up, it was one of reasons I stopped playing this expansion. I don’t want to spend a whole expansion grinding what should be something you use once in a while, with the exception of consumables OFC.
Having come back to gear up for the next expansion, finishing crafting to completion is the last thing I want to do.
One hour max per week is a grind?
People just don’t care to look up. Weird, did they look up their rotation or it’s too much to be asked for?
There are plenty of treasures that give you points, zaralek has many of them too (there is your catch-up, muh, and also you can buy knowledge points with mettle from valdrakken and from zaralek), people are lazy and demand things to be easy for them. Let’s have a rotation also just one button, so people are satisfied being bums
It might be an idea to implement the craft order system within the auction house, make it with full bells and whistles so you can demand quality of your craft. As a seperate tab in the auction house imo it would be fine. That way you can still order up
Crafters however should just be able to sell what they craft through the auction house, where doing a craft order is an alternative for someone who gathered the materials to avoid paying for the materials.
The fact that a non crafter has a platform where they can say ‘hey I want this crafted for me’ without having to spam trade chat is a good thing on paper that we should keep around.
When I talk about catchup I mean specifically the knowledge points, I don’t really see how using old sparks will help there? at best it will get you some easier first crafts right?
still the issue that if you miss a week of weeklies, you are permanently a week behind everyone who didn’t miss a week of weeklies remains
I can’t agree enough.
Starting out I was very eager to do crafting and I had fun with it. But then came the knowlege cap, the poor amount of knowlege to find, not to mention that you couldn’t reset misspent knowlege. It has been years since our talent points were such a system, yet even then you could at least spend gold to reset. I do wonder what was the thought behind this.
Overall I don’t mind the specialisations, but getting stuck not being to level on other things than recipes requiring sparks or others gated in some way is never a satisfying system.
Finally the loss of knowlege points when taking a big break from the game (or starting late/new players arriving) is awful. On TOP on knowlege already being so sparse / week. I stopped playing in March and came back for the release of 10.2. I really do wish there were a catchup system for the crafting.
I’m also mostly talking about knowledge points. There are plenty of them. Lots of treasures in areas and in zaralek. You can buy points in zaralek/valdrakken.
Old spark also give you points since you can craft your first craft of some gear. People are lazy to look up. I guess you don’t even know what treasures are, do you.
You can literally learn something to craft at max rank within a week. If you get all those and open the tree correctly. It’s way different from day one for sure, there was no zaralek either. So there is a catch-up for you
Boosted a mage few weeks ago and i can already make max rings, necks and trinkets with her. I think most people dont know that there is actually catch up, they just need to invest some time to find it.
I like the system but it can be improved.
Ranks of materials kind of sucks as it takes up extra inventory slots, but from a gathering prof PoV it makes sense. I think gathering would need some changes first to remove material ranks (so skilling up still feels worth it).
Public crafts should need mats to be provided.
It makes sense for private/guild. Either you are already “haggling” or its a guildie. For public you are not haggling and are unlikely to know the person.
I would also like to see profession gear also have some more prgression throughout the expansion, rather than just crafting rank 5 items first patch and then forgetting about it.
Implementing better/genuine catch up. (I think this would help a lot dissatisfaction).
A sink for mettle, I am just collecting this right now and it is not well utilised in the crafting system, at least for some professions when you have maxed crafts.
I think it was an ambitious revamp…but abit too ambitious!
They really need to go back and simplify things a little bit. Most people arent playing professions as a money making ‘job’, they just want another aspect of the game to have fun with.
Its currently too complicated to be fun.
Crafting should literally just be what it used to be, but with a spruced up interface and the opportunity for casual world players to create great and interesting gear for world content.
For example, if you love mining, then you should be able to find special minerals.
If you love blacksmithing, you should be able to create something really cool with those minerals. Similar to how engineers can make worm-holes.
Doesn’t have to be mega powerful stat-wise, but at least make it look good and have benefits for world content.
And for the love of god, don’t give the best plans and reagents to raiders. Those are two different groups of players and neither should be forced to do the content that the other prefers.
They don’t want to. They just want an easy crafting system, so the boys can sell them. Yay
There is not much to learn, honestly. People are just lazy, one YouTube guide 20 min will explain to you. And I don’t play game as just gold maker, but I do make tons of gold. Also, spark system is fine, or maybe people preferred torghast system and 100k legendary? Who knows lmao
The points in valdrakken/zaralek are one time tho, so they are not catchup as anyone has access to them, the people who are ahead of the people who are behind also can access these items right?
The treasures yeah fair I forgot you can keep finding them even after you hit your weekly cap which is a softcap for profession treasures, the return rate drops to abysmal levels tho, also if you have enough rep for the Tuskarr you’ve probably also given up on the treasure because 9 out of 10 things on the minimap are fish boxes which is extremely annoying
Granted, that doesn’t mean you can’t find the treasure, but its still so bad I would question the sanity of people who would try to barrel through anyway
I did keep up, missed a few weeks here and there, don’t have everything filled out but honestly I really couldn’t care less about things like stonework, having started an alt later in DI it wasn’t until then that I realized that this system only works if you were at it since day 1
This was incredibly galling to me. I didn’t want to follow a profession guide, so I just picked what felt sensible; and on my tailor I got completely stuck. I needed like 10 levels to unlock the last tab and the only thing that would get +1 was spark recipes.
Unsurprisingly, nobody wanted my 65-skill crafter to make a spark item for them, so I stopped tailoring until 10.1 came out and I could send him all the spare season 1 sparks from alts that had never used them.
Broken system that didn’t need to be broken with just a little bit of testing.
Yeah. If you craft, or if you think you might want to craft in future, and are currently up to date, you really can’t let too many weeks pass without logging in to tick off those weeklies.
All I want there is a sliding cap like we have with crests, like we used to have with valor, etc. If I come to the game with a fresh alt (or as a new player) I should be able to take a week off work and blast it to catch up. A bit of intensive gaming to get up to speed is a lot of fun, but when the game throttles you to a static weekly cap there’s much less joy to be had.
If they don’t want to offer us 52 weeklies at once, make it so that Rifts and Dreamsurges and Superblooms have a 100% drop on knowledge eggs if we’re below the global cap.
Edit: Also if a crafting recipe is BiS for many specs (Lariat…) then it shouldn’t be a low % drop. The recipe sells for 2.5 million on my server right now. Luckily I know some nice people who can craft them, otherwise I’d be getting scalped by strangers just trying to get their money back.
Why do you expect some catch-up to people who were farming profession for a year? Do you expect to catch-up in a day to people who have 3k+ IO too? Why don’t you work a little to say so?
Btw, the treasures are different, there are profession treasures that give you 3-5 points per treasure. When the game launched, there was no zaralek, so there is a catchup. Otherwise idk what you mean lol, start farming instead of whining maybe?
The same reason why I can expect a catchup in gear, that’s just the game Edit: It’s also a game that works in Seasons
Why should professions of all things in this game be the thing where you can get an untakeable lead in no matter what you invest in it?
You are asking for a profession system that will just hurt professions
I don’t have too, I’m caught up as far as I want to be
And that alt was abandoned a few months ago because I generally don’t play alts
so this is not a ‘I want things to be given to me for free post’ this is a ‘I am genuinely concerned with how this is designed and here’s why’ post
Wdym? I can literally craft lots of items max rank on characters I leveled profession a month ago. And it will take time for you to get 480 ilvl, you can’t get it in a week, so
Catch up doesn’t mean being given stuff. It means the opportunity to do all the things that were slowly given out over a long time, very quickly.
Same sum total work.
He has got a profession system that hurts professions I don’t bother on alts any more. I might make them alchemists for longer phial durations, that’s it.
