Every time I log in with my character, I’m getting the cinematic about previous events (“From the moment the Dark Titan Sargeras …”).
I tried to remove WTF, Cache, Interface etc from my retail game directory, I used /console cvar_default
, all my settings were reset, yet this cinematic continues to play on every login. It looks pretty much like a bug, however I’m puzzled that I don’t see any reports of this bug from other people. I think that it started to behave this way since Wednesday (not 100% sure).
This is new account with a single Dracthyr Evoker character, not sure if that could affect something.

Me as well. I’ve already opened a ticket. What I’ve tried:
- full interface reset.
- a full scan and repair (after making sure nothing in the entire WoW folder was set to read only)
This is really just so silly.

Apparently is was somehow fixed for me, I just logged in and no cinematic.

Same issue here. It only happens on one specific character.
What fixed it for me was closing the game, Log back in, skip the cutscene. Close the game and wait 30 seconds. Cache should update and it should be fixed.

I am having the same issue here and I only just returned to the game today after having been gone for months. And I get hit with this annoying catchup cinematic everytime I log in and when you hit ESC and chose yes the game freezes upward of 30 to a full a minute before it finally exists the cinematic.
Same issue for me, getting quite annoying. Thought completing the Alleria in the void quests might fix it but no luck.
Same issue, it started appearing after reaching level 70
Same over here on lvl 70+ char. Tried disabling addons, clear cache and wtf, scan and repair option. and still the problem occurs
Hello and thanks for the reports!
We’re aware and taking a look at what might be causing this, but if you notice anything specific about the characters that seem to be affected or any other details you think may be relevant, don’t hesitate to pass it along through a bug report.
Thanks for taking the time!
Hi, I have the same problem and nothing is change
Open your config.wtf file in your WoW folder (…\World of Warcraft_retail_\WTF\Config.wtf)
Search for the text ‘playIntroMovie’, what value is it assigned?
Mine says SET playIntroMovie “13” and I don’t have this bug.
