Class Tuning Incoming with 10.0.7 -- 22 Marc

Along with the launch of patch 10.0.7 next week, we’ll make adjustments to some classes that are underperforming or overperforming in endgame content.

Because of the timing of these changes, we intend to add all of the following to the 10.0.7 patch notes. Please note that some changes below affect talents that are new or redesigned in 10.0.7, and all should be testable on the 10.0.7 PTR soon.

  • Rhapsody now grants a stack every 2 seconds (down from every 5 seconds).
  • Holy
    • Burning Vehemence now causes Holy Fire to deal 30%/60% of its initial damage to all nearby enemies (was 15%/30%) .

  • Elemental
    • Swirling Currents increases the healing done by Healing Stream Totem by 40%/80% for Elemental (was 20%/40%).
  • Enhancement
    • Swirling Currents increases the healing done by Healing Stream Totem by 40%/80% for Enhancement (was 20%/40%).

  • Affliction
    • Dark Virtuosity now increases the damage of Shadow Bolt and Drain Soul by 5/10% (was 15/30%).
    • Kindled Malice now increases the damage of Malefic Rapture and Seed of Corruption by 4/8% (was 8/15%).
  • Demonology
    • Felguard auto-attack damage increased by 20%.
    • Wild Imp damage increased by 20%.
    • Vilefiend damage increased by 30%.

    • Frostbolt deals 100% increased damage in PvP combat (was 50%).

  • Retribution
    • Execution Sentence is now 65% effective in PvP combat.

  • Holy
    • Heal healing is now increased by 43% in PvP Combat (was 35%).
    • Flash Heal healing is now increased by an additional 6% in PvP combat for Holy only.
  • Developer’s notes: These are targeted buffs to Holy Priests’ overall throughput, which has continued to fall behind other healers.

  • Subtlety
    • Dark Shadow effectiveness reduced by 20% in PvP combat.
    • Danse Macabre effectiveness reduced by 33% in PvP combat.
    • Perforated Veins effectiveness reduced by 25% in PvP combat.

    • Focused Malignancy increases Malefic Rapture damage by 10%/20% in PvP combat (was 15%/30%).
  • Developers’ notes: These changes are targeted at improving Affliction Warlocks’ instant cast damage, while offsetting the potential burst from Malefic Rapture with the 10.0.7 talent changes.
  • Destruction
    • Bane of Havoc now has an 18 second internal cooldown with Mayhem talented.
    • Incinerate no longer deals increased damage in PvP combat (was increased by 13%).
    • Shadowburn damage is now increased by 25% in PvP combat (was increased by 30%).
  • Developer’s notes: We’re targeting a decrease to Havoc uptime and offsetting the PvE tuning changes with some reductions to Shadowburn and Incinerate. We want builds with instant casts to be viable, while preferring that the spec relies on Chaos Bolts for most kills.

  • Arms
    • Fatality now stacks Fatal Mark up to a maximum of 8 times against enemy players (was 20).

Thanks for further ret nerfs! Sure, palas’ were awaiting for this and previous fantastic tuning!

I think you guys forgot to paste guardian druid patch notes. Last time I checked - it is massively behind the pack in all content types. If you don’t like the spec - just remove it from the game

As a feral main from 2004-2017, and then Guardian through some of this time as well: please do. Guardian is a stupid idea, and the only reason it’s here is that Blizzard couldn’t figure out how feral is supposed to play. It’s supposed to be a DPS/tank hybrid alongside retribution and DK, but also with the ability to specialist more towards tanking than they do.

The longer they ignore this, the more similar to rogue the class will become. It’s now basically reached a point where they’re identical except that druid has 4 legs. It sucks!

Now that we’re have talent trees, there can actually be guardian talents for feral, so that can be part of the spec, but nooooo…

hahahahahaha this will fix warlock destro aoe for sure. in fights where you literally cannot stand still to cast and tanks kites all the mbos around …THIS WILL FIX IT!!
do you even have a dev responsible for warlocks? that played a warlock in hius life?

the weekly guardian druid changes looking good

Yes! We were really struggling with aoe as Holy :c

If you chase two rabbits, you will not catch either one. I think this is one of the core problems wow has currently in its entirety. Stick to casual content is my advice. You are trying to juggle hardcore, semihardcore, proplay, and casual tuning for three different game modes. Good Luck with that. My advice is to stick to semicasual-semihardcore tuning, tune completely seperately for each game mode, and let the rest figure it out on their own. Forget pro play especially in my opinion, because it’s not the niche of wow as a game.

Why are these changes coming days before the patch goes live, and before the bugs surrounding warlock 5% haste from Demonic Inspiration are fixed? Affliction Warlocks have very poor AoE damage and as such do substantially less damage than other classes in M+, despite their high single target raid damage. It seems like a poor design decision to take away the buffs before fixing bugs and before testing them. It also seems like a poor design choice to nerf the AoE talent that increased seed of corruption damage, when it has such a long cast time and does such underwhelming damage compared to other classes. Further, these talents are nerfed so hard that they are not desirable talent choices compared to others. Focused Malignancy is a 30% increase in Malefic Rapture, compared to the new talent that grants 8%. Withering Bolt is a 45% shadow bolt/drain soul damage increase compared to the new talent that now grants 10%. These new talents are nerfed into the ground, and if Affliction Warlocks are doing too much single target damage in raid, then talents that grant single target damage such as Withering Bolt, Focused Malignancy, or Malefic Affliction should be nerfed instead of these new talents. Affliction Warlocks still need buffs and rebalancing to be competitive choices in M+, as they are currently lagging behind most other DPS specs and are only viable in single-target raid at the moment.

Nerfing AFF, buffing ele healing

Lol perfectly balanced

I’ve seen the videos of trump playing video games, need someone to do the same developing games :frowning:

stil 0 changes for fury and its gonna be even more worse than it is atm

As long as it’s only in PvP.
In PvE Ret numbers are fine. The ST is very much equal to live and AoE is slightly stronger.

Please don’t nerf it to the ground after you went through the trouble of redesigning it.

Months are a weird lot: There is January, there is February, and then there is Marc.

Go figure.
